EXTRA-SENSORY PERCEPTION
(ESP) PHENOMENA?

This Research is a Special Requirement in Phys 311 Nuclear Physics at the
Cebu Institute of Technology, PH in the First Semester 1981-1982 (June-Oct. 1981).
Given ONLY to our batch by our searching (general: life, religion, science, ESP,
paranormal phenomena, Creation, Evolution, etc. in his very severe mid-life crisis)
teacher Engr. Feliciano V. Paradela, BSME, MS Physics; Deceased: Feb. 14, 1996.
[He found the Truth on October 19, 1981 after reading my ESP research below.
And he died in the Lord on Valentines Day 96 one month after being saved.
I was instrumental in his salvation, being maybe the only person he may
believe in my sharing to him the Biblical Truths found in The Navigator
Ministries tract, Bridge to Life, on January 7, 1996 during my visit. I am only
Gods instrument in his discovery of the Truth because of our historical
acquaintance 15 years earlier (at least the stories/ happenings at CIT from that time
endured). He was sick then and was half blind during my visit.]
The author is a member (since July 1, 1980) of the interdenominational Christian
organization, Navigator Ministries, international headquarters, Colorado Springs,
CO, U.S.A. The Navigators was founded by Dawson Trotman, an American, in the
U.S. Navy, in 1933. The Philippine Navigators was founded in 1961.

INTRODUCTION
The stories here are related to a most unusual happening in Cebu City during early-mid 1980s
at the Cebu Institute of Technology when a Civil Engineering faculty member (perhaps he was
already tenured then) started to behave like a demon-possessed person in the school environment
for 3 semesters or 1 years. The beginning of which coincided with this authors being excluded
out in the schools non-aviation environment as an airplane nut/ religious fanatic person starting
in Engr. Feliciano V. Paradelas Phys 311 Nuclear Physics class early in the First Semester 19811982 in June 1981. Engr. Paradela hits out me in class in front of all my classmates since near the
semesters beginning after I committed a trivial offense. But we became friends after the
semester after his discovery on the truth about his problems on ESP, Evolution, many things, etc.
Everyone knows what happened to Engr. Rudy Maneja (BSCE) when he led a Burningsurvival Ritual (using gasoline) challenge-to-the Almighty God of being resurrected from the
dead (faster than Jesus Christs three days); (he of course supremely-miserably failed as his
god he called Yawa Ellohem disappointed him as they failed both. Yawa Ellohem, the
original spelling in the local Daily SunStar, front page feature on August 11, 1985, can be
translated as Devil god). For Yawa is an audacious misuse of one of the combinations of the
TETRAGRAMMATON: JHVH, YHVH, JHWH, YHWH in which we have now the Almighty
Gods Name Jehovah or Yahweh. (The vernacular word Yawa means Devil in Cebuano, the
largest Filipino dialect spoken in mid- and southern Philippines.) But it was all a mystery to
many, even all the people who have heard about it. It is my purpose to reveal the whole truth
about it. This also has a bearing on this authors unusualness as a very passionate aviation/
aerospace enthusiast who, by Gods sovereign will, was engaged in a very emotionally-bloody
spiritual warfare for 1 years (or 3 semesters: June 1981-October 1982) starting that June 1981
in Engr. Paradelas class. My schoolmates evidently have an acquaintance with an aerospaceirrational person like me perhaps for the very first time. And consequently, I suffered a 3 semester emotional ordeal starting in Engr. Paradelas class (June-Oct. 1981 and up to one year later,
October 1982; after which I transferred to another school in Cebu City, the University of San
Carlos in my 4th year, 2nd semester in BSME in college). The rest was history (local; and more
maybe, in the future; but please understand, I am not having delusions). You can read the whole
truth here. I have kept documents and dossiers (about key people such as Capt. Villaruel) for my
Internet (free) publication purposes. I hope you will take time to read them; even review them.
I am sure you can see that I am the only human in this world who can explain such deep
mystery. In the uploading of my first Internet publication A Revelation of Darvin Anthony
Delgra (Writings of Darvin Delgra with Documents) at www.Scribd.com, I did not understand
what tags mean, at that time, and I just leave it blank. Luckily, for those who found my
publication, there is a service in the Internet which provides information about tags in those
publications which lacked it. That service, after reading my writings maybe considerablyessentially completely, gave my Internet publication these tags: Cebu City > Technology >

can think of many more publications in the future, but I have yet to sit and write them.

This author is the only one who can explain to all people the whole truth about that most
unusual happening in Cebu City in early-mid 1980s. And there will be a Part 2 and later parts
he believes can still be conceived, of his Internet publication he uploaded on December 22,
2012 for a confidential reason related to the December 21, 2012 End of the World hype. If

I proposed to change Engr. Rudy Manejas name spelling to Engr. Rudy Manja for it is
pronounced that way. The in n is prounounced i as in chin and not e as in egg. I
have also a reason for my choice of the letter . This is the cap above the letter e. You know
in geometry, going to the right is positive and going up is positive so going both in the right
direction and the up direction is positive. Therefore going outward from the center or origin, in
the 1st quadrant, is positive. The cap in goes up then goes down as it hit the top (the lower
boundary of heaven where the cap bounced down). This may be exactly what Satan did when his
heart became proud and wanted to be like God. This is found in Isaiah 14:12-20. The cap really
is a fitting symbol for Satans ambition and defeat or loss; because going down to the right is
negative (defeat). My idea is to single out Engr. Rudy Manja from all the Manejas of the
world. But I am not sure what is Gods stand on this issue. However, let us call Engr. Rudy
Manja that way. Even in the Bible, there are a number of people who are called Jesus; but not
Jesus Christ. (I dont really know how many since I know only one, such as Jesus, who is called
Justus in Colossians 4:11.) May God forgive me if I am wrong in my thesis; and if I sin regarding
this I am confident God the Holy Spirit will protect me from that one unforgivable sin of
blasphemy of the Holy Spirit since I am a Christian. However, in my discussions herein-after,
it would still be Engr. Rudy Maneja which will be the spelling of his name. I would just like to
remind people on how his family name is pronounced. This is common knowledge in Cebu and
around the region where people heard about the most unusual thing he did on August 10, 1985:
gasoline-burning public ritual 27 years ago. Again, I am the only who can explain it.
The author is urged by God the Holy Spirit to publish this Document before the 30 th
anniversary of Engr. Manejas ritual, August 10, 2015 (same day in 1985). Because the extensive
information on his work above (A Revelation of) is very long, the readers may miss reading
this document: this ESP mini-thesis. Thus the author using his common sense that most people
are very busy with their personal lives, and thus have little time for leisure reading, thought that a
straight-to-the point (about this ESP mini-thesis) edition of his work, must be published. There
are also related documents included here that are all about this authors unusualness as a talented
aviation/ aerospace-oriented person/ enthusiast that was among the causes of his being regarded
as different in the non-aviation environment of the Cebu Institute of Technology, Cebu City,
Philippines, starting with his supernaturally-malicious conflict with his searching teacher, Engr.
Paradela, beginning that June 1981 during his 3 rd year course, Phys 311 Nuclear Physics. This
happened simultaneously with the beginning of Engr. Rudy Manejas apparently demonpossessed behavior; (but the author believes, Engr. Maneja is a plain antichrist, a major one, at
the End Times). When the author transferred to the University of San Carlos-Technological
Center at the opposite northeastern side of Cebu City proper in the 2 nd Semester 1982-1983 after
enduring a 3 semester or 1 year very severe emotional ordeal, he succumb to an emotional
breakdown (or collapse of his emotional health) in the Christmas 82 or December 1982. His
emotional disorder lasted only 4 months to April 1983. And in June 1983 resumed his BSME

studies at USC-TC. Although with reduced course load as per his original psychiatrists
recommendation (for the first semester; but with regular course load for the rest of the following
semesters thereafter). He graduated with a BSME degree from the USC on March 23, 1986. He
has determined from friends and acquaintances from CIT that Engr. Maneja may also have left
CIT that 2nd Semester 1982-1983. In the last year of the authors extended 7 year college career,
on August 10, 1985, he heard over the radio in their rented apartment near the USC-TC campus,
the very-blasphemous-to God challenges of Engr. Maneja. This is because he invited the media
to cover his feat. But it was all a mystery until the authors revelation. I hope you will take
time to read them. He heard over the radio this factual challenge of Engr. Maneja: that theirs is
the true religion and that all people who will join them will survive the coming Nuclear War.
Thus his ritual to prove his challenge to all people that theirs is the true religion. But this
particular issue (nuke war) is not spread among the local people as a story of great concern. But
the author really heard about this fact first-hand over the radio: on August 10, 1985, Saturday.
In December 1982, Engr. Paradela and me met with the scientists from the then Philippine
Atomic Energy Commission (now Philippine Nuclear Research Institute) from Diliman,
Metro Manila who visited the colleges in Cebu City. He told them about the happenings at CIT
for the past year (June 1981-October 1982) and the scientists were very shocked to hear a solid
evidence for the first time about a demon possessed person/ (major antichrist) in the very public/
highly educated environment of the CIT (Cebu Institute of Technology). Actually, I first met the
scientists at the University of San Carlos-Technological Center (where I transferred to in
November 1982 when I was already then in 4 th year, 2nd semester BSME) in Nasipit, Talamban at
the opposite northeastern side of metropolitan Cebu City where they held a symposium at the
Audio-Visual Hall one early evening in December 1982 when I was then very near my
emotional breakdown (collapse of my emotional health due to my very severe emotional ordeal
at CIT for the recent 1 years). I was late in coming to the symposium. But it was my very
serious impression that these people in front are scientists because of their topic (and looks and
bearing also). After the symposium, several of the students came to them to ask questions; I also
came near but did nothing. Later, they assembled outside the USC-TC Engineering Building on
the paved road; pausing for a while perhaps thinking what to do next. And then I came near and
asked one of them: are you a scientist sir? In a very much alarmed reaction (because they are
scientists searching for new discoveries)/ very much interested-intrigued lightning-quick
response, the one I asked (which turned out to be Dr. Antonio E. Refre, Ph.D., then Head of
PAEC), answered in extreme amazement yes!. Then I asked a second question: do you
consider yourself a scientist sir? Then in an even higher tone of his voice and more intrigued
amazement, he answered yes!!! Then they (the scientists) took out their wallets and got their
calling cards and each gave them to me (but not one of those are in my possession now); (the
calling cards published here on page 44 of Dr. A. Refre, Ph.D. and Mr. Osroxzon Amparo,
M.S. Nuclear Science, Purdue U. I got much later during my visit in December 1996 to PNRI).
And Dr. Refre said: OK, you go to CIT tomorrow. When I went to CIT the next evening, they
held a symposium, again, for the CIT students. And my former Phys 311 Nuclear Physics teacher
Engr. Paradela approached the scientists. I approached one of the scientists who turned out to be
from my old hometown Digos City (Sept. 8, 2000), Davao del Sur. He is Mr. Osroxzon Amparo,
M.S. Nuclear Science, Purdue University, a son of former Digos Councilor, Mr. Fidel Amparo
(deceased) whose residence is at Crumb Street. I heard about him from my high school teachers
at the Holy Cross College of Digos (now Cor Jesu College) that there was a scientist who is an

alumnus of our high school and who probably was a former HS Valedictorian. The topic I had
with Mr. O. Amparo was simply the physiognomy of highly intelligent, talented people. And he
agreed with my ideas. But some of my former schoolmates who saw us in front at a side, I heard
from feedbacks later, spread stories that I understood our topic with one of the scientists, and that
I am a genius. (Later, in 1996, I discovered in a Mensa advertisement in the Discover Science
magazine that I passed unofficially their minimum requirement for membership (IQ 130, 98%ile
Wechsler) with my GRE Graduate Record Examinations General Test 1250 (Verbal +
Quantitative) essentially-perfectly simulated score in the official ETS (Educational Testing
Service: the test maker, Princeton, New Jersey) reviewer, Practicing to Take the GRE General
Test, No. 8 that they accept as alternative qualification; and there are many tests other than the
GRE that they will accept as alternative qualification such as appropriate scores on the SAT and
MAT Miller Analogies Test; etc.) My actual score is 1190/ 1995 (V+Q) which I discovered in
an Internet resource after 2000, that this is equivalent to IQ 126, 96%ile (Wechsler). A very close
boyhood friend of mine, my alter ego (math secret) 770, 92%ile GRE Math scorer, now Ph.D.
in Artificial Intelligence (Computer Science) from the University of Adelaide, Australia (July 31,
2014), Dr. Manuel B. Abello, Ph.D. is also an 1190 GRE (V+Q) scorer. But we have different
profiles: mine is GRE Verbal: 500, 55%ile and GRE Quantitative (Math): 690/ 695, 77%ile. And
his scores are GRE Verbal: 420, 31%ile and GRE Math: 770, 92%ile. You can find on pages 5457 our scores and his M.S. and Ph.D. diplomas. I am lucky to have a very close boyhood friend
with these attributes/ talent. I hope we will be able to work at Boeing, St. Louis as he became
interested to join me there as per my suggestion. May the good Lord God in Jesus bless us. But it
is genuine Philippine aeronautical development that I have in mind ever since young. This is my
sober self-called mission. Or this mission is really a calling from Almighty God in Jesus because
of my experiences. I will do it through genuine aero education, even just a quality BSAE degree
program for our talented aeronautics youth (whose existence are yet to be recognized by our
clueless government leaders), preferably, in one of our countrys distinguished university. My
prospect now is at the University of Southeastern Philippines, A Iigo Street, Barrio Obrero,
Davao City, where I used to teach before, and where I have friends in the Engineering Faculty.
Because of this fact in my life and my discovery in the Internet that Ph.D.s and M.D.s in the
U.S. have an average of IQ 125, 95%ile (Wechsler), I am not closing my options for a future
Doctoral (Ph.D.) advanced study in the U.S. And the program which interests me greatly now is
the Ph.D. in Aerospace Systems Engineering at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. So
also now, I am not closing my options on the Thesis M.S. Aero Eng. Degree Program (Aircraft
Systems Engineering specialization) at the CSU, Long Beach (as a preparation for Ph.D. study)
when I will be back studying there in 2018 or 2019; hopefully God willing in Jesus, may He
bless my aspiration and dream of a U.S. advanced degree to finally come true. (I finished there
one (1) school-year or two (2) semesters of my BSAE Deficiency-removal Plan in my MSAE
Degree Program in 1999-2000 with a GPA of 3.25/4.0; after which I came back home due to lack
of private family funds as I have no scholarship.) I have made an assessment of my abilities and
talents, and because of my close Ph.D.-degreed friend alter ego (math secret) who will never
decline my request for help in my math problems I am stuck up with, I really may prove to be
successful in Ph.D. graduate school; hopefully, God willing in Jesus. Also, I need this degree for
my proposal projects in aerospace with the Philippine government so they will find me worthy to
be listened to. I plan to do a 5 year short-stint career (two (2) H-1B Working Visa terms) at The
Boeing Co., St. Louis, Missouri as my dream company. May the good Lord God in Jesus bless
my career plan. I have also a contact there (see page 88): Eduardo V. Segura, (former) Lead

Engineer of the Department 303 Fluid Dynamics of the former McDonnell Douglas, St. Louis,
MO (merged with Boeing in July 1997); (retired in August 1990; he was my fathers high school
friend and Boy Scout colleague; one year ahead and not a classmate, at the Abellana National
High School in Cebu City, in the late 1940s). In late July 1990, his wife Adelaida Segura passed
by our place on her way to a relative in Matanao, Davao del Sur and left her husbands calling
card, which my mother (deceased: March 1, 2002) placed in the conspicuous place of our tall
cabinet with a central mirror, near our dining place, in our former house in Digos. And I took it.
(Adelaida is a first cousin of my auntie, Carmen Belleza Vda. de Delgra, the widowed wife of
my late uncle, Atty. Martin V. Delgra, M.A. in International Law, U.P. (deceased: February 7,
1977) elder brother of my (now 85 years old: 2015) father, Engr. (CE: retired) Glicerio V.
Delgra.) Because I became very boastful, showing his calling card to my (former) classmate
friends at the MATS College of Technology in Agdao, Davao City during my post-baccalaureate
BSAE studies (up to March 1990: finished 3rd year BSAE at MATS; from April 1988 at PATTS
College of Aeronautics in Pasay City, Metro Manila which I transferred from); (etc.), I burned
his calling card together with Capt. Panfilo Villaruels card (but I have another calling card of
Capt. P. Villaruel; on page 44). I missed his calling card but what I did may be very necessary: I
have to tame my tongue to be modest. I think all people just have a spectrum of levels of
boastfulness. I hope you dont find me presumptuous with this statement.
I think the reader you now have an idea that the most mysterious happening at CIT (Cebu
Institute of Technology in June 1981- October 1982 for three (3) semesters, which is my personal
encounter and showdown with evil) is extremely multifaceted: It is really now local history. Also
aviation/ aerospace history; although I am just an aero enthusiast/ aerospace eng. graduate
student (currently on extended/ expired leave from my M.S. in Aerospace Eng. Degree Program
from CSU, Long Beach). And maybe also history of science: specially the discovery of the
scientists from PNRI (Diliman, Quezon City, Metro Manila) that Almighty God (especially the
Trinity God of my church, the Catholic Church of which I am a member since birth) exists. But I
am not a conventional Catholic because I am a Navigator Ministries member since July 1, 1980,
my spiritual birth with the bona-fide Christian witness of my discipler, Mr. Romeo Dilla, BSChE
(CIT: early 1980s) (see Internet www.Navigators.org). I learned my Bible knowledge from the
Navigators in our many activities including the one-on-one discipleship training with my
(competent discipler) Mr. R. Dilla. Mr Dilla is now a successful shipping trade businessman
based in North Carolina, U.S.A. We have further contact through our FACEBOOK accounts.

ABSTRACT
Many people of all ages and from all races have experiences or encounters from the extraphysical world. There is definitely and evidently something beyond and outside the physical
universe, such as entities that exist there. Common activities such as spirit of the glass are done
by people curious about the spirit world and knowing things in the future, etc.
In response to my teachers, Engr. Feliciano V. Paradelas (BSME, M.S. Physics) searching
about extra-physical questions such as: which is true, Creation or Evolution?; and specially his
yearning to know, specifically, if there is any truth about the Extra-Sensory Perception (E.S.P.)

phenomena(?), because he has had experiences in these things as he once confided to me

personally, that he does not understand the truth about the existence of E.S.P., this research has
been launched for his benefit.
I have found out from reading a book on ESP whose author has a D.D. degree (Doctor of
Divinity?), that the main activity in ESP is spirit contact for their assistance in helping us
humans develop such inherent powers in man for our benefit. In short, the author of that book
claimed that we all have such inherent power (ESP) waiting to be developed through the
assistance of spirit teachers. Then he further claimed that these spirits are friendly without stating
whether they are good or evil, and subtly suggesting that spirit teachers are from(?) God.
Because the book on ESP, Helping Yourself with ESP by Dr. Al G. Manning contains both
quasi-religious teachings and scientific facts (pseudo-scientific facts really), the analysis of this
report is twofold: one scientific, and the other Biblical. Ultimately, the writer being a Biblereading Christian, believes the Bible as Gods Word, is the final authority to which every
question in life, in the whole universe, past, present and future, shall be reckoned with and
judged upon. (This writer is born a Catholic and a member of the international, interdenominational, evangelical Christian organization Navigator Ministries since July 1980. I am still a
Catholic as my group is not a church.) In summary, this writer believes the Bible contains all the
answers to all of lifes questions, especially spiritual questions (the last two words not in italics).
The writer conclusively found out that ESP is a most sinister sham brought straight from the
spirit world for the spiritual destruction of people, human beings like you and me, who are
infinitely important to God, being our Creator. And that we must be wary not only of ESP but in
every activity that promises us to deny our own finiteness such as fortune telling, transcendental
meditation, etc.
I have a comment on the statement of a high school (girls department) schoolmate in Digos:
that I have only refuted one book on ESP. I discovered in 1990s decade that this woman, now in
her late 40s, has been involved in a group in Digos that delve deeply into paranormal phenomena. I would like to tell her and all of you, readers, that in mathematics study, a single refutation can prove the falsity of a math conjecture, & a complete proof is needed to prove otherwise.
Rather than be swayed by the cheap talk of those in favor of ESP, advocates, etc., we should
instead rely on God through his revelation in his unfailing Word, the Bible. And seek humbly His
will in our lives, and to trust His promise to be with us always through our earthly journey.

Chapter 1
INTRODUCTION:

This research is particularly intended for my searching Physics 311 Nuclear Physics teacher
Engr. Feliciano V. Paradela, BSME, M.S. Physics originally, but now I have decided to make it
public thanks to the information technology of the late 20 th Century. I originally intended to
write a complete book, but since it will be necessarily long, a thought entered my mind some
years ago that I will do it through the Internet. I decided I will publish a voluminous excerpt
on my work. Also, I realized that this action can also be an effective marketing strategy for my
forthcoming book with the same title here (or other titles). But I really dont know when it will
be published. However, the information you will read here will be substantial information on a
most unusual happening in a school in Cebu City way back in 1981-1982 and in mid-1985.
Because of my most unusual experience at the Cebu Institute of Technology more than 30
years ago, I am no longer an ordinary individual here in my country (but I dont revel on this).
Even if certain people have not seen a picture of me, they know me, maybe from descriptions
heard about me. Some, even many people, evidently heard stories, both conflicting positive and
negative issues in my life way back in college and beyond, and its relation to the happenings in
my first school, CIT. Even in my second school, University of San Carlos in Cebu City, there are
also unusual issues about my college life, but I will tell you here that only me, a few or one other
single person, and the Almighty God who sees it all, knew everything about these issues. I have
discussions on these in this books (excerpts yes, I call it excerpts) Afterword.
This research has been launched to find out if there is any truth about the ESP phenomena.
There have been claims that these phenomena is of some help to those who possess it, like being
protected from harm of any kind, faith healing (which I suspect has a holy type), knowing
things in the future which they call precognition, out of body experiences the call astral travel,
and many other forms of such phenomena.
In the secular world, we often hear of stories about ESP. Many claim that it really exists and
they really experienced it. Our objective in this report is to find out whether these things are
natural physical phenomena and therefore can be explained by the laws of science or the
scientific method. Or is it some form of religion or anything else? The following findings (in
Chapter 2 of this report) will reveal its true nature when interpreted in light of the Scriptures.
First of all, I must apologize for the ideas that may seem offensive to you Sir (Engr. Paradela).
And all you dear readers who may have not suspected to date that ESP could come from the Evil
One. I am not in favour of ESP (our ordinary experience) and I never will; though I suspect that
there may be also might possibly be a holy-type of these phenomena, but rarer, even much rarer.
In an analogy to the word pride which has a negative connotation and is one of the specific
condemned sins in the Bible (you can find references to this in the Old and New Testaments of
the Bible, especially in Psalms and Proverbs), there is really such thing as holy-pride. Like, as
an example, one refuses to engage in activities that are damaging to the family honor because of
pride of ones clans impeccable reputation. There are no invented, coined terms for these
opposite words, as far as I know, and so just the ordinary word is used but used in a specified,
and carefully-stated clear context. About ESP I used to believe in such things before when I was
young and had some experiences that I can ordinarily call coincidences, or whatever one may
call them. Whatever these things are, they still have to be proven is there are any truth in them.
And I also may need to be critical to make clear our definition of Truth in our study to really

find out the real truth. The holy-type of ESP (etc.), again, may simply be called Gods divine
revelation to his holy prophets (and not ESP a much later, modern coined word).
I have found out in my research that ESP is not called the seventh sense but the sixth. The
author on that book on ESP Helping Yourself With ESP, Al G. Manning himself stated this, that
all ESP has been poetically called the sixth sense. 1
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
There have been reports about psychic phenomena. We often find in magazines of general
interest, articles about ESP. In the February 1981 issue of the Readers Digest magazine, there is
an article entitled The Woman Who Sees Through Psychic Eyes. The woman is Dorothy
Allison. She has helped scores of police departments locate scores of missing persons through
pictures that flash into her mind.
The fact that Dorothy Allison has helped locate missing persons proved that ESP can exist
according to the senses. But the reality of its general existence is questionable. I am not making
any statement here whether Dorothy Allisons case is the ordinary unholy-type or the holy-type,
in reference to my discussion above. You judge for yourself: the reference is stated above, but
there are no details given here in my research. Our aim in this report, in particular, is to know
whether there is any truth or Truth about the existence of ESP, and that depends on our
definition of Truth which will be used in this report. This study deals only with the ordinary,
common, usual ESP experience. The author did not make any attempt any research on the holytype of ESP. I hope you will be satisfied with the conclusions I have arrived at in this study.
DEFINITIONS OF TERMS
The following are terms used by the author of the book on ESP (Al G. Manning) to present his
ideas. A word may have more than one meaning, so to be safe, all definitions in this section are
denotative, that is, the dictionary definition of the word, except those definitions given the
author, Al G. Manning (later in this research).
Not all terms used in Helping Yourself With ESP are defined, for if it is, then the pages covered
will exceed the 21 pages preferred for this report. Only those words which I think are the most
important are defined. These definitions come from my old dictionary Funk and Wagnalls
Dictionary of the English Language.
Clairvoyance 1. The ability to see things not visible to the normal human eye; second sight.
2. Intuitive sagacity or perception; mind reading. 2
Psychometry 1. The science of measurement of the psychophysical, especially of their
accuracy or duration in time; mental testing; also psychometrics. 2. Divination by physical
contact or the proximity of the properties of things being touched or approached. 3

knowledge; the doctrine of the essential nature and fundamental relations of all that is real. 2.

Speculative Philosophy in the widest sense. 3. The principles of philosophy as applied to the

use, abstruse and bewildering discussion. 4

Chapter 2
THE SIXTH SENSE PHENOMENA
There are, or have been, questions whether ESP is real or a falsity. There have been claims that
such phenomena are natural that is the phenomenon taking place are governed by the laws of
nature and science. To know whether this is true or not, it is essential to know the nature of ESP,
the persons having such powers, the purposes of such activity, where do they (the psychics)
got their powers, etc.? Are such powers inherent in man and could be developed by the

techniques introduced by those who claim they are psychics? What is this activity for? Is it for
the good of mankind or for its destruction? Does it exists or is it just a hoax? Finally, is there any
truth or Truth about its existence(?) which will depend on our definition of truth or Truth we
will use here in this study. I believe if these questions are answered, we will know what is really
behind such phenomena. Let us examine a few reports about the ESP phenomena. I believe I
dont need to write about every kind of ESP phenomenon but only a part of it is sufficient to
reveal the nature of the whole thing. I would like to repeat here what I wrote in the Abstract of
this study:
I have a comment on the statement of a high school (girls department) schoolmate
in Digos: that I have only refuted one book on ESP. I discovered in 1990s decade
that this woman, now (2012) in her late 40s, has been involved in a group in Digos
that delve deeply into paranormal phenomena. I would like to tell her and all
of you, readers, that in mathematics study, a single refutation can prove the falsity of
a math conjecture, and a complete proof is needed to prove otherwise.
It should be noted that verses from the Bible are not interpreted but only presented as
the authoritative basis for the interpretation of the ESP phenomena.
A. Reports on the ESP Phenomena:
All of these reports are taken from one source only that book on ESP authored by Al G.
Manning (D.D.?), Helping Yourself With ESP? a female classmate in my Nuclear Physics class
lent me near the end of the 1st Semester 1981-1982. I have noticed that the names of the persons
who reported such experiences are not stated nor their personal backgrounds revealed. Actually,
in all of the reports of psychic experiences in that book, not even one name of a psychic stated.
Last year while I was still driving cross-country trucks, I had an excellent
demonstration of spirit protection. Late at night I got very sleepy, so I pulled my
rig off the road to take a short nap. It happed that I stopped at the top of a long
grade, and I must have not set the brake properly. I woke up with a start to
see that my truck was careering down the hill at terrific speed. But my fear
quickly vanished as I noticed the shadowy form of a powerful Indian handling
the steering wheel with a skill that was obviously out of this world. He kept
the truck on the road around a couple of wild curves and finally brought it to
a stop in a safe place on the shoulder. I had seen Tomahawk in my meditations
before, but this was my first obvious demonstration of his physical protection.
I feel his presence now every time I get at the wheel of a motor vehicle. He is
a constant source of physical protection. 10
One morning I had already risen for the day but something prompted me to
flop across the foot of my bed and sort of wake up more fully. And a strange
sight came in view like two diamond shaped frames in which were enclosed
sparkling jewels (not lights) like the glitter of precious stones. Some blinked
off, others on-off and on they went, all colors for a few seconds, beautiful
beyond description. They dimmed out and I saw sky and stars like the whole

universe moving to the right and gradually fading out. Something within me
reasoned, I am seeing the whole Universe, but it neither excited me nor
scared me. 11
A young man working at the very bottom in a furniture factory began to get
an urge for a career in electronics. He took this feeling to his teachers in his
quiet place and asked for guidance. In the peaceful atmosphere of the meditation, everything seemed to make sense, so he enrolled in an electronics
assembly class at night. After twelve weeks of hard work he received a
certificate and began his search for a suitable job. He was chosen over
fourteen other applicants with similar backgrounds for his first job in
electronics assembly. Next came the urge for an engineering degree, and
again he sought guidance in his quiet place. This time help came in the form
of his companys financing the costs of books and tuition in the evening
section of a local college. It took eight years of hard work, but he regularly advanced on the job as the new educational degree in his work improved
his qualifications. And his years in the shop contributed to his being one
of the top electronic production engineers in the state.
A middle-aged man was told that his wife need a very serious operation.
They were both working, and it seemed to take all they could earn to keep
the children in high school and make ends meet. In his quiet place he talked
over his intense desire to find a way to finance the operation. After about
ten minutes a voiced to say, Worry not, good brother, you will have help
within three days. On the third day there was a check for $2,000 in the
mailbox with a letter from an attorney in a distant state explaining that this
was a bequest from the estate of a distant uncle. 12
B. Interpretations of the Sixth Sense Phenomena
The interpretation of the psychic phenomena is two-fold. First scientific, and the second based
on the Bible says. This is so because I have out that such an activity is associated with religious
teachings and scientific facts. Actually such an activity attempts to bridge the gap between
science and religion.
An Excerpt from an article of the magazine Science Digest stated:
A Majority Claim
Why then has the belief in the paranormal become so normal? Why do 58% of Americans
claim that they have personally experienced ESP?
Vivid anecdotes are more persuasive and memorable than dry facts. For example, one recent
University of Michigan study found out that a single vivid case had more impact on opinions
about welfare recipients than factual statistics.

Peoples belief in ESP is similarly rooted in dramatic stories and experiences. At California
State University at Long Beach, Barry Singer and Victor Benassi had someone demonstrate a set
of tricks designed to simulate ESP. Even when they were forewarned that this was simply a
magician who would merely pretend to read minds and demonstrate psychic abilities, most
students were convinced that the performer was psychic.
People fail to recognize chance events for what they are. People believed in ESP because they
see ordinary events as highly improbable. Ask someone the chances that at least 2 people in a
group of 30 will have the same birthday. Most underestimated the correct answer there will be
2 such people 70 percent of the time.
Given billions of events in the world each day and innumerable possible pairings, some coincidences are bound to occur. We all have our favourite incredible coincidences. Heres mine:
The King James version of the Bible was completed on William Shakespears forty sixth birthday. In Psalms 46, the forty sixth word is shake, and the forty sixth word from the end is
spear. (It is perhaps more incredible that someone discovered this.)
Given the hundreds of psychic visions of Atlantas child killer a few are bound to be close.
Indeed many psychics offer scattered gun predictions, almost guaranteeing a few hits, which the
media are only too happy to report.
Preconceptions bias interpretation and memories. One of the most startling facts about the
human mind is the extent to which preconceived notions bias the way information is interpreted
and remembered.
Sometimes our minds block something we could readily see in what we were only predisposed
to perceive it. While reading this words for example, you have been probably unaware that you
are looking at your nose.
Our prejudgment can induce us to see and recall what we already believed. Even when observing purely random events, people become easily convinced that significant relationships are
occurring when they see them. Conversely premonition that fail are usually forgotten.
False Perception
Our intuition can be distorted by chance events that sustain over existing ideas. Indeed,
researchers have used these deficiencies in human intuition to manufacture false beliefs in ESP.
Fred Ayerodf and Robert Abelson of Yale asked 100 students to try to transmit mentally one of
five symbols to another student, who would guess what was transmitted. The ESP rate proved to
be neary identical to the chance rate of 20 percent. Nevertheless, students were confident that
ESP was occurring more than 50% of the time.
We yearn to believe. Finally, people may believe in ESP because they want to. In the Creation
story, humanitys fall, to most people, are denied rather than accepted.

Todays believers in ESP proclaim our potential for godlike omniscience reading minds,
knowing the future, etc. They tempt each of us to deny our finiteness.
Many are also motivated by yearning for mystery in an age when religious faith has waned
and science may seem to demystify existence. Archbishop William Temple once commented that
when people cease to believe God, they do not believe nothing; they believe anything.
Pseudomysteries
Fortunately, creation still contains mystery aplenty without our having to invent pseudomysteries. Physicists describe strange, non-substantive realities which are seemingly contradicttory theories. Psychologists are only beginning to fathom the awesome processes by which the
human brain assembles neural impulses in visual image. Our mind cannot comprehend how the
Universe began from nothing, or alternatively, how it could exist without a beginning.
These grand mysteries reminds us of our minds limit. So also our vulnerability to paranormal beliefs, even in the face of repeated failures to confirm psychic phenomena. Indeed, the
belief we can hold with greatest certainty is the humbling conviction that some of our beliefs
contain error. Hence our need, at all times to check our beliefs against the facts as we could
discern them and to discipline our undisciplined credulity. 13
THE NATURE OF ESP
We will know the nature of ESP by the ideas presented by the author of the book Helping
Yourself With ESP by Al G. Manning, D.D. (?). As I read the book I found out that such activties are associated with spirit contact. This author himself confirmed this: This is the idea there in
that book that one must have the help of spirits in order to acquire powers like clairvoyance,
automatic writing, etc. Consider the title in Chapter 2 and parts of other chapters in that book;
they are:
How to Contact Powers Greater Than Yourself and Get Real Help
How to Summon Your Spirit Teachers to Assist you
There are still lots of other How tos about spirits in that book, yet the author claimed that
such phenomena are inherent in man and can be developed by the help of spirits. An investigation of these phenomena reveals that such activity is a spiritual matter, and the scientific facts
presented in that book do not follow the methods of scientific research; which I mean that they
cannot be investigated using the Scientific Method (see Internet). I dont have to expound much
on this but to simply state is here that ESP is outside the realm of science. I am not a scientist (or
at least not a full-fledged one yet: I have two admission offers, in the 1990s, to the M.S. in
Aerospace Engineering Degree Program from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona
Beach, Florida; and the California State University, Long Beach where I studied for one year in
my BSAE Deficiency-removal Plan in my MSAE degree program in 1999-2000, then I went
home to the Philippines due to lack of private family funds); but I can refute his (the author, Al
G. Manning, of that ESP book) ideas scientifically. You know it very well, dear readers, that such
phenomena are not natural.

Here is an excerpt from the pamphlet Is Evolution Scientific? that gives light to the question
of the validity of the Theory of Evolution and proves also the authority of the Bible as the basis
which every question in life and in all creation, should be interpreted:
THE BIBLICAL ALTERNATIVE
It is the writers believe that the consistent and satisfying interpretation referred to above is
found in the Christian Scriptures, which provide an account of Creation, nature, consciousness
and being (both on the material and spiritual planes) as magnificent as it is complete. For
centuries, the best of human intellects have found this Biblical worldview challenging, satisfying
and stimulating, fusing as it does, the moral and spiritual dimensions of human existence into a
single grand and purposeful design. One of the founders of modern science, Isaac Newton,
declared as the mainspring of his researches the discovery of those facts that would most work
with reasoning men to a belief in the Deity, and the unquestionable motive of most of the early
natural philosophers was to reveal the hand of God in the natural universe.
It is not the purpose of this booklet, however, to set out the Christian philosophy of being.
Unfortunately, the ravages of evolutionary thinking are so advanced in our present society that
many are yet unprepared to consider the Biblical alternative. It seems necessary, at least for
some, to begin by removing some of the aura of infallibility that surrounds the Theory of
Evolution. This is perhaps a destructive activity, but we can learn a great deal which is to our
benefit as a result.
Our purpose, therefore, is to examine critically the nature of genuine scientific theory and to
apply the principles so established, to the Theory of Evolution, to see whether it does, in fact,
pass muster as scientific in the best sense of the word. 14
CREATION AND EVOLUTION
It is unavoidable that this topic be included in this report. This is because the teachings of that
book on ESP favors the Theory of Evolution and not in Creation. Here is an article from the
Christian publication, Our Daily Bread:
Although we as Christians cannot scientifically prove that the Bible is true nor
explain the mysteries of the universe, we have a far better ground for belief than an
atheist had for his. What a tremendous faith he must marshal in order to hold to his
position! He has to believe that everything in the world came into existence by pure
chance, even though the laws of probability are stacked against this assumption. A
scientist who is not a Christian recently acknowledged that there are astronomical
odds against the Theory of Naturalistic Evolution. He said too many things that are
necessary for the origin of life had to happen in just the right way, under just the
the right circumstances, and at just the right time. But he quickly added that he
accepts this highly improbable concepts of beginnings because he hasnt found a
a satisfying answer to the problem of evil.

The fact is, every thinking person constructs some of belief system. This is
necessary because many things are simply beyond the reach of the scientific method.
The person who says he is an atheist makes a confession of faith, but its based on
a blind leap into the dark. We also confess our faith when we acknowledge the
Bible to be Gods Word and place our trust in the God it reveals. But this is a
reasonable step, not a desperate plunge. And when we take it, we find freedom from
guilt, victory over sin, and peace in the face of suffering and death. Accepting
Christ is more logical and more rewarding that becoming an atheist. 15
INTERPRETATION 2
The following are the things the author of that book on ESP stated and claimed:
A person could have anything he may desire.
ESP is the answer to lifes problems.
ESP has the source of personal strength.
He said that much of Jesus Life story is involved with demonstration of ESP.
It isnt necessary to give up any of lifes pleasures, but we should avoid overindulgence of all
kinds.
ESP has the answer to the question of being or existence.
Each spirit lives in a world of his own mental creation; and this is formed at first from the
very beliefs and quality of consciousness he brought with him for his earthly life.
He said that God is the life and the very substance of your being.
The only sin in the universe are the negative thought patterns and their manifestations.
All of life especially in the business world, there is room for only one emotion: it is that
manifestation of positive love which is enthusiasm.
Life is an endless series of a game by which we strive to attain real spiritual advancement.
He said that the angels referred to in the Bible in Psalms are the spirit teachers.
All progress is the result of the psychic.
He said that the love of money is a good emotion.
Kill out all ambition for material advancement, then work as the one who has it.
If an evangelical Christian (Bible reading and believing Christian) read my findings in my
research: the claims of the author of that book on ESP, he or she will readily note that these
teachings very, even supremely contradictory to what the Bible teaches. If we examine these
teachings, we will find many internal contradictions in them. For example, the author said or
stated: the love of money is a good emotion. then he said also kill out all ambition for
material advancement What the Bible says about the love of money is this: For the love of
is the first step towards all kinds of sins. Some people have even turned away from God because
of their love for it, and as a result have pierced themselves with many sorrows. (1 Timothy 6:10,
Living Bible). We see that the teachings in ESP is not in harmony with the teachings in the Bible
even in just the smallest degree, for if it is, then it should not have contradicted even a single
correct teaching in the Bible. Here is an article in the Sidestreets magazine:
If these spirits are from God then why are some of their instructions and messages
different from those found in the Bible? I mean they have a semblance of truth but

were not the whole truth. Jesus said, I am the Truth and everything you read in the
Bible is consistent with that statement. Jesus never contradicts himself but Satan
Does because as Jesus said he, Satan, is the Father of Lies. 16
I have found out that these inherent powers in man (according to the author on that book on
ESP) could be developed through the aid of spirit teachers. He further said or stated in that
book: there are many other things with which to consult the spirit teachers to assist a person.
We know already that such activities are essentially linked with spirit contact, but we dont know
who these spirits are, whether they are from God or not. The Bible teaches us this: Dearly loved
friends, dont always believe everything you hear just because someone says it is a message from
God: test is first to see if it really is. For there are many false teachers around, and the way to
find out if their message is from the Holy Spirit is to ask: Does it really agree that Jesus Christ,
Gods Son, actually became man with a human body? If so, then the message is from God. If not,
the message is not from God but from the one who is against Christ, like the Antichrist you
have heard about who is going to come, and his attitude of enmity against Christ is already
abroad in the world. (1 John 4:1-3; Living Bible). In the Revised Standard Version of the Bible
it says: Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are of God;
for many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every
spirit which confesses that Jesus Christ has come into the flesh is of God, and every spirit which
does not confess Jesus is not of God. This is the spirit of antichrist, of which you have heard that
it was coming, and it was in the world already. (1 John 4: 1-3; RSV).
That book on ESP also quoted this but with an addition:
In modern language, treat any new spirit with the same friendly but cautious reserve you
would use on a stranger who knocked on your front door. See that he qualifies himself to you by
his words and actions before you place too much trust in him. 17
If the author on that book on ESP really believed the Bible as complete in itself, then he
should not have added something to it. He gave us this instruction to test every spirit, but what he
said is a plain denial of the authority of the Bible. Now here is the trickery or deception made by
this author when he said: In modern language, treat every spirit with the same friendly but
cautious reserve... He wants to implant in the minds of the readers that what the Bible teaches
cannot be applied in todays secular world. He interpreted it in such a way to suit his purposes.
But such a person will pay the penalty of every careless, offensive word he said. The Bible gives
us this warning: And I tell you this, that you must give account on Judgment Day for every idle
word you speak. (Matthew 12: 36; Living Bible). And I solemnly declare to everyone who
read this book: if anyone adds anything to what is written here, God will add to him the plagues
described in this book. And if anyone subtracts any part of these prophecies, God will take away
share in the Tree of Life, and in the Holy City just described. (Revelation 22:18-19; Living
Bible).
The author on that book on ESP said the only sin in the Universe are the negative thought
patterns and their manifestations. Surely, this is not what the Bible says about sin. The
following definition of sin is taken from the Bible Dictionary. Take note of the very big
difference:

Sin is failure, error, inquity, transgression, trespass, lawlessness, unrighteousness. It is an unmitigated evil. But the definition of sin is not to be derived simply from the terms used in the
Scriptures to denote it. The most characteristic feature of sin in all of its aspects is that it is directed against God. David expressed this in his confession: Against thee, thee only, have I sinned.
(Psalms 51:4), and Paul in his indictment, the carnal mind is enmity against God (Roman 8:7).
This orientation must be kept in view when we consider the different terms. Any conception of
sin which does not have in the forefront the contradiction which it offers to God is a
deviation from the Biblical representation. The common notion that sin is selfishness betrays a
false assessment of its nature and gravity. From the outset and throughout its development sin is
directed against God; this analysis alone accounts for the diversity of its forms and activities.
When the Scriptures says that sin is the transgression of the law (1 John 3:4) it is to this same
concept that our attention is drawn. Law is the transcript of Gods perfection; it is His Holiness
coming to expression for the regulation of thought and action consonant with that perfection.
Transgression is violation of that which Gods glory demands of us and is, therefore, in essence
the contradiction of God. 18
The speaker in our symposium on Creation and Evolution aboard M.V. Logos Christian
Bookship which made a port call in Cebu City that first semester 1981-1982 says that Sin is the
attitude of the heart. That attitude which makes us choose our own way and not giving God first
place in our lives. This is also in harmony with the teachings in the Bible. Sin is not merely a
negative thought pattern. So what that on ESP teaches is definitely against the Bible, the Word of
God. This conclusively proves that the teachings on ESP is not from God.
I have observed that the main idea in that book on ESP is spirit contact. The gifts or
powers acquired by a person is the result of contacting spirits for their help in developing such
inherent powers in man. I have observed or found out that demons, the Devil and Hell are
never mentioned in that book. One of the greatest achievements of the Devil is that he was able
to make the majority of people believe he doesnt exist.

CONCLUSION:
There is no truth in ESP. ESP could exist according to the usual five senses but its existence
is questionable. I mean it is like magic in that our senses agree that what comes out of magic is
real because we see, hear and feel that it exist but there is no logical basis for such an existence.
I believe half of magic is really evil power at work and not a trick. Consider a man floating
in the air. It is too hard to believe that it is a trick. Or a man cut in half and still alive. I believe
that the television program intended to convince people that all magic are a trick is also a decep-

tion of the evil one a double deception. First the magic, then a TV program to convince people
that all those magic are just sorts of tricks. Let us be wary that the evil one is too deceptive. He is
not to be trusted in all his tricky activities though he may be just masquerading to entertain us.
The main activity in ESP is spirit contact and it is not stated or proved whether these spirits are
from God. The author of that book on ESP claimed these spirits are from God, and if they really
are then the spirits should acknowledge that Jesus has come in the flesh, or actually became
man with a human body in agreement with the Biblical instruction or exhortation. In that book
the warning from the Bible about spirits is quoted but something is added so that the spirits will
not be tested, but only dealt with the same friendly but cautious reserve one would use on a
stranger who knocks at the door Before the author of that book on ESP, Al G. Manning, D.D.
(Doctor of Divinity?) said this, he stated this: In modern language By stating this he means
that what the Bible teaches is not applicable to the present secular world. The author interpreted
the Biblical instructions about testing spirits as equivalent to treating strangers, and here lies the
deception: If these spirits really are from God then Dr. Al G. Manning should have agreed to
what the Bible says about spirits.
The Bible teaches us this: Jesus told him, I am the Way yes, and the Truth and the Life. No
one can get to the Father except by means of me. (John 14:6 Living Bible). Jesus is the Truth.
There is no truth in ESP because it is not in perfect harmony with the teachings in the Bible
though that book on ESP teaches things that may have a semblance of truth, but not the whole
truth really. Jesus never contradicts himself but Satan does, because as Jesus has said, Satan is
the Father of Lies.

student who did mediocre performance starting 3rd year in college. This letter is a short document
about what happened in my college days: it was a most amazing thing, perhaps it will leave its
mark in history (but please understand I am not having delusions). If you are not a Christian or
atheist, this will be a chance for you to believe in the existence of the Christian God (Trinity) and
the power of Jesus Christ, the Almighty Gods Son and the Messiah. My psychological condition
was first caused by my personal encounter and showdown with evil in my college days for 1 &
years (June 1981 to October 1982), after which I transferred to another school in Cebu City.
This was the cause of my mediocre performance later in college and the roller patterns in my
grades. SO PLEASE DO NOT GLOSS SO MUCH on my seemingly-average undergraduate
academic performance. Please consider my unusual new resume as a strong basis for your
evaluation of me. You may not believe this, but my psychiatric condition is unique in world
history and even, perhaps, in par with King Nebuchadnezzars psychological illness we can read
in the Bible as Gods temporary punishment. (But my case is different in that it is not a punishment.) I was excluded in my first schools sub-society at the Cebu Institute of Technology as an
airplane-nut/ religious fanatic starting 1st Semester 1981-1982 when my Nuclear Physics
teacher, Engr. Feliciano V. Paradela, BSME, M.S. Physics, hits out me verbally in class every
meeting for the whole semester (since the sems beginning) in front of all my classmates after I
committed a trivial offense (details below); I was already 3rd year BSME student then in Phys
311 Nuclear Physics. He was also in a deep-seated multifaceted very severe mid-life crisis with
very many problems ranging from Extra-Sensory Perception (ESP), paranormal phenomena, etc.,
to life, science, religion, Creation, Evolution, etc., and was searching for solid, conclusive
answers ever since young to his many problems. He was probably more than 50 years old then
and he has not established a solid religious faith yet; also, as he confided to me when I
approached him in my daring, he told me he has had supernatural experiences. At the same time,
another teacher in Civil Engineering, Engr. Rudy Maneja, BSCE (I dont know if he holds a
graduate degree) started to behave like a demon-possessed person: he claimed to be the Messiah
and blasphemed God and Jesus. (But I believe this teacher is not demon-possessed but a plain
antichrist; a major one at the End Times.) He died publicly by self-immolation by fire using
gasoline in a public ritual at the historic Plaza Independencia in Cebu City he scheduled on
August 10, 1985, Saturday (I have learned somewhere, probably from the news or an elementary
school friend-classmate/college schoolmate (BSCE) at CIT, that he postponed two schedules
before this date). He challenged to duplicate Jesus Act of Resurrection, but by another power, by
his almighty he called Yawa Ellohem (this is the original spelling in my Cebu SunStar daily
newspaper clipping copy). Yawa is a misuse of the Tetragrammaton YHWH (one of four spelling
versions) in which we have now Gods Name Yahweh (Jehovah). Yawa incidentally is the
Cebuano (Visayan language, a Philippine dialect; Cebu is an island in the middle of the Visayan
central-Philippine island group), term for Devil, so this teachers god was the Devil god.
During the duration of his apparently demon-possessed behaviour at the CIT, also for 1 &
years starting from June 1981, I was the No. 2 weird person there; and Engr. Paradela the No.
3. (I have researched from a schoolmate/ acquaintances later that he may have left CIT after 1 st

semester 1982-83, the same time as that of my transfer to the University of San Carlos at the
opposite northeastern boundary of metropolitan Cebu City in November 1982, 2 nd Semester,
1982-83.) For my non-aviation schoolmates, it was perhaps the first time that they knew of an
adult college person who would look at an airplane flying overhead as with aviation people.
Also, since I have no outlet for my very much-intense aviation/aerospace interests, as a rulebreaker, I would talk aviation to slightly interested friends who seemingly/ apparently just
understand me. But the gossipers who heard that I was excluded in the schools sub-society
starting in my Nuclear Physics class, muddled the issue, as I can soberly surmise. To-date, I have
heard all insane labels applied to me. But I have virtually no regrets: the Almighty God may have
precisely called me to engage in such bloody (emotionally) spiritual warfare in my college days:
A connected fact with this was my receiving a The Way Living Version Bible, Catholic
Edition, during my high school graduation in 1979 as a Bronze Medalist 3 rd Honor in Religion in
our Catholic school, then Holy Cross College of Digos (now Cor Jesu College) run by the Sacred
Heart Brothers. (The giving of Bibles as supplementary award during high school graduation, as
far as I know, is not a usual practice of our school. And that the Bibles were brought from the
Vatican in Rome, Italy by a Brother who returned from there on a tour, which I can vaguely
remembered it a relayed information to my father Engr. Glicerio V. Delgra (BSCE, past
Municipal Engineer of Digos) from one of my schools religious order member. I cherished this
fact ever since in my life.) My stay at the CIT was for 7 semesters or 3& years; my stay at the
USC where I transferred to was for exactly another 3& years in an extended 7-year college
career. (The normal length of study in all engineering programs here is 5 years. In the recent
years, I have discovered hundreds of curious coincidences in my life in this manner; and more
are discovered as times passes.) My teachers (in Nuclear Physics, Engr. F. V. Paradela) questions
were answered after he read my mini-thesis research he requested us to do: Is There Any Truth
About the ESP? or Extra-Sensory Perception (given only to our batch). He also requested us to
research/make a term paper on What is Man Searching For? as alternative topic. His definitive
answer from my research: ESP is mostly evil, usually the work of demons. (This is because I do
not rule out the possibility of the holy-type of the ESP phenomena to happen. But the holy-type
of these phenomena may just be called Gods revelation to His holy prophets, and not ESP. As
there are clearly many instances we can read in the Bible that holy messages from God are
revealed to His prophets supernaturally throughout the Bible.) And consequently the God of the
Bible really exists as a solid reality: The power of Jesus was demonstrated and the scientists from
the Philippine Nuclear Research Institute in Manila, who visited CIT in Christmas 82 at the time
of my transfer to the USC were convinced that God really does exists: the Devil exists, therefore
Almighty God must also exist. This was the cause of my mediocre performance later in college*.
But my first two (2) college years GPA (grade point average) was 4.00562 (B on the U.S. 4.0point Letter Grade Scale) on the CIT 3.0 pass and 5.0 excellent scale (with 0.5 increments);
no D grade equivalent in the Philippines. I hope that my health condition is not a cause for
non-consideration as I get emotional residual-illness relapses** at certain times of 1-week to 1month duration. Please consider favorably my re-admission application. Equal opportunity

My very painful emotional experiences in college more than thirty years ago is especially very
severe because of its connections to a most unbelievable achievement of mankind (aerospace),
and those people who engage or believe in it or pursue it they being regarded as different from
the rest of the lesser-endowed majority of people. Although, we are already now in the 21 st
Century with giant leaps of technological development in aerospace spurred by two World Wars,
etc., like the Cold War of the 1960s (etc.), my country, the Philippines, has yet to have a debut in
genuine aeronautical development. My countrys aeronautical development did not venture far
beyond aircraft maintenance and the assembly of finished aircraft components, as spinoffs of
military aircraft purchase. In short, the status quo of our cultural groups aeronautical
development, and the general attitude of people toward aerospace, is very much like that at the
turn of the 20th Century in advanced countries when along with the legitimate aeronautical
experiments carried out by the Wright brothers and Samuel P. Langley of the Smithsonian
Institution, etc., there were lesser-endowed individuals who joined the fray to be first to take to
the sky with their weird, unscientifically-and-ill-conceived mechanical contraptions supposed-toachieve human-made flight (but all known attempts failed). And most sober peoples and even
the majority of learned scientists opinion, about the aviation frenzy around the turn of the 20 th
Century, was that it was the highest kind of foolishness and the peak of lunacy. Although, I
was just known as an airplane nut-religious fanatic (starting in Engr. Paradelas Phys 311
Nuclear Physics class), with Engr. Maneja simultaneously beginning his very much mysterious
unusual behavior in our trio of weird persons freak-out in normal societys world
controversy (June 1981 October 1982 at CIT), it was especially severe for me as an excluded
person in that non-aviation environment (CIT) that may FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME have
an acquaintance with a very much passionate aviation/ aerospace enthusiast weird person.
They dont know that there are many people like me, but we are found in places not dreamed of
by the ordinary person. These are the airports, military air bases, aircraft companies, NASA (etc.
such as its counterparts in other advanced countries), aerospace engineering departments of large
universities, aero specialty colleges such as the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (with
which I have my first admission offer: December 16, 1992, Conditional Admission: Master of
Science in Aerospace Engineering I was not able to attend this school but instead at the CSU,
Long Beach in 1999); etc. People like us have a special bond the love of aviation/ aerospace
and often, we make friends with each other very easily. This is the world I am longing to be with
since childhood. The aerospace company I am aspiring to work with and planned to do a 5-year
short stint career before I retire is The Boeing Company, Saint Louis, Missouri. I have a friend
there who retired as the Lead Engineer of the Department 303 Fluid Dynamics (Aerodynamics)
of the then McDonnell Douglas Corp., in August 1990. Boeing sounds very similar to boang
(crazy in the vernacular), the most painful insane label here. May God bless my single prospect
career job application at The Boeing Company, Saint Louis, MO (Military Aircraft and Missile
Systems Group). You can see on pages 86-88 Boeing, SLs very positive reply letters in mid-1990s.
I saw a book before but did not borrow it that was in in early 1980s when I was still
studying at CIT. That was at the USIS or United States Information Service library in Cebu City.
The title of the book was: Is There A Place In The World For Me? I heard also the Librarian
when she saw the books title and commented: boang? (crazy?). This person that was the
books main character (who may not be aviation oriented such as with my case) was apparently
experiencing a freak-out in normal societys world syndrome that he or she never found the

place in the world that will accept her, or find her acceptable (or his behavior acceptable, etc.).
But she (I remember vaguely that the author is a woman), may have made a good recovery that
was why she was able to write her book. If I find a copy of her book in the local BOOKSALE
Bookstore, I will secure one. I am interested about the many dimensions of their (our) condition.
On page 31 of this document, I included this paper, a page in the Readers Digest book
entitled Great Events of the 20th Century: This article is on Sigmund Freud, the great psychological theorist that pioneered a way to treat people with psychological disorders, (etc.). I am very
much happy to discover this article in this book especially this message: In recent years,
however, some psychiatrists have campaigned against the ready use of drugs. Britains R. D.
Laing, for example, has taken the view that insanity may in some cases be a normal response
to an intolerable situation. The patient may best be served, Laing suggests, by alleviating the
circumstances lying at the root of his illness and by providing an entirely tolerant environment
in which his feelings can be vented rather subdued by drugs or other traditional therapy. In a
sense, Laings view, is the ultimate thus far of the attitude of tolerance that began with Freuds
research and theories. But I have a look at the spiritual dimension of this mysterious illness:
Consider this theory in psychology: feelings (or delusions) of persecution (etc.). Is the
persecution not happening? And that it is just a delusion of false belief or false perception of the
psychological patient? Experiences such as mine can divide humanity into two classes of people:
Those who belong to God; and those who belong to [otherwise] who are very judgmental and
who follow the ways of the world in joining this [otherwise peoples] wicked ways. Those who
belong to God will refrain from joining the majority in their spiritually wicked ways. You see
those young children throwing stones at perceived mentally ill and-left-out-in medical treatment
people? Maybe only half of all those young children will do that. When people grow up, nothing
has changed. The attacks only become more and more subtle and more and more sinister. Am I
just having delusions for those 3 semesters (June 1981-October 1982) at CIT during my lifes
most difficult emotional ordeal? Which led to my becoming a normal psychiatric patient with a
most unusual normal psychological disability? The happenings in my life when I was 19-20
years old then and 3rd year and 4th year in BSME at CIT has varied repercussions in my life. I
became a public and (local) historical figure which I never aspired to become. But I am also
controversial because of my lifes secret decisions (which people can only guess as to what is my
motivation). Like my correcting my proud history teacher (in front of our class during Summer
Term 85) at the University of San Carlos (USC) Main Campus who in his hubris (overweening pride) just assumed from gossips school-wide among the aerospace-clueless people
(mostly students in a non-aviation school), that I am the only one in the school who has zero
interest about history. And acted accordingly, even attacking me three times (the first two subtly,
in class). The third time was in the middle of the Christmas 84 Disco for being just fit for the
garbage as my interest is too narrow. Just airplanes only and nothing else, as he just assumed.
Why my act of disciplining my proud teacher happened is because I am a blameless person (it is
my sober belief that there are a sizable number of blameless persons in this world and they are
the only ones who know it, aside from God Almighty who sees it all from above). (I would like
to make it clear here that blameless persons are not sinless as all people are sinners. And that
there is only one person who is sinless, the perfect person God-Man Jesus Christ.) Psalms 15 in
the Bible describes the character of the blameless person. Psalms 15:4b who keeps his oath even
when it hurts. (NIV). In the Living Bible Version Psalms 15:4b says keeps a promise even if it
ruins him. This thing that is done or will be done by a blameless person will be most controversial: it will ruin him or her. But it has to be done. It was as though Satan who saw us in the

middle of that Christmas 84 Disco in the entrance hall of the USC-TC (Technological Center)
during that socialization, made his cheap challenge to God Almighty that if my teacher will not
be recompensed (because of the reticence of a socially-concerned what will people say(?)
Christian) then he will have the upper hand because Matthew 7:1-2 failed(?). This verse says:
Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others you will be
judged, and with the [same] measure you use, it will be measured to you. There are many more
promises of God in the Bible that are at stake and which Isaiah 40: 8b sums it all, that everything

of disciplining my proud teacher in his sinful hubris, is totally justified. It is the very words of
God that are at stake. Unknown to people, 11 years after that Christmas 84 Disco I visited my
teacher at his office (95) at USC-Main and asked for apology for what I did to him in the Summer
Term 85. He expressed though non-verbally that he agreed that what I did to him was just fitting
and proper. (It is really more than just fitting and proper it is the very words of God that are at
stake.) Then he said, Merry Christmas. And then we finally parted ways with peace in our
minds and hearts. On Judgment Day, there will be surprises. People will know the cold truth then.

evil spirit in charge of gossiping. Because they have their doctrine evidently the same as the Nazi
propaganda machine of World War II: that if a lie is spread widely and long enough, it will

person (but modest considering them in a world-class-wise perspective; with objective measures
such as the GRE Graduate Record Examinations; etc.). I have taken English proficiency tests

normal. Education in the U.S. is different. An admission decision by the Graduate Committee
is based on a profile of the applicant, and not just grades. Among the most important factors are
creativity, inventiveness (for engineering applicants), imagination, etc.; in short, talent. No single
or few factors are enough for a positive decision of the graduate committee of a grad school Dept.

borderline gifted IQ-wise with a 126, 96%ile level IQ (Wechsler), allowed me a deep

Aerospace engineering is essentially a specialization of

mechanical engineering. In particular, aerodynamics and
propulsion are a specialization of the fluid dynamics option
available in many mechanical engineering programs. As a result,
mechanical engineers usually have little trouble transitioning to
course work in the aerospace field. It is therefore quite common
for someone with a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering
to pursue an advanced degree in aerospace.
Likewise, mechanical engineers are quite common in the aircraft
industry. While aeronautical engineers tend to be experts in
designing the overall layout of an aircraft, it is mechanical
engineers who most often do the detailed design work to put
those concepts into practice. For example, an aerospace engineer
may design a shape for a wing to achieve aerodynamic
efficiency, but a mechanical engineer would determine where
the various structural components need to be in order to build
that wing and connect it to the fuselage. MEs also typically
complete official drawings used on the assembly line telling the
workers how to put the aircraft together.

AERODYNAMICIST: My Dream Career

Seeking an experienced Aerodynamicist with
knowledge of aircraft sizing, performance and
stability & control. Applicant should have a
complete understanding of fluid dynamic
technical principles, theories, concepts and CFD
(Computational Fluid Dynamics)
design/analysis methods. Tasks include:
performance analysis, stability & control work,
basic aircraft sizing, CFD grid generation,
aerodynamic and propulsion CFD design,
analysis of internal and external flow, and postprocessing of CFD solutions. Must complete a
variety of conceptual and preliminary design
CFD studies in a thorough, imaginative and
practical manner, as well as, document and
present results. Familiarity with aero tools
including: Fluent, vortex lattice codes,
DATCOM, Hoerner and airfoil design tools is
desired. Must have a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering and directly related work experience.
M.S. is a plus. Pilot, aircraft homebuilding and
