FIRST, Create a new Gmail Class Account:

• Visit www.gmail.com.
• Click on the "Create an Account" button at the bottom, right.
• Fill in all requested information (using the Login and Password from above!).
• Click "I Accept, Create My Account" at the bottom of the page (You may NOT
change this account name or password!).
• Click through the links to go to your inbox.
SECOND, Create your Wikispaces Account to Login to the Class Wiki:
• Open up a NEW browser window (so you still have your new Gmail Inbox open).
• Visit room250.wikispaces.com.
• Click on the "Join" link at the upper-right corner of the page.
• Fill in the "Username" and "Password" with the SAME information from the box
above that you used for your Gmail account. Your "E-mail" should, obviously, be
your new Gmail account address ("Your Username"@gmail.com). Also, make
sure you have selected "No" under "Make a Wiki" before clicking "Join."
• This will create your account, but you will need to go BACK to your Gmail
account, click open the message from Wikispaces once it appears, and click on
the E-mail verification link to complete your account creation.
• Visit room250.wikispaces.com again.
• This time, click on the "Join this Wiki" link at the upper, left side of the page.
• Click the "Request" button
• Return to your Gmail account, again, and open the message from Wikispaces
accepting you into the class wiki once it appears.
• Click on the link inside the E-mail that will take you back to the class Wiki, where
you should be a full member, now (the "Join this Wiki" button should now say
"New Page").
THIRD, Create a New Page for Yourself on the Class Wiki:
• Click on the "New Page" link at the upper, left side of the page.
• Type ONLY YOUR FIRST NAME as the title of the page, then click "Create."
• You will immediately be taken into the editing mode on your page. Create a
homepage for yourself that will ultimately become a space to display at least one
poem you write during this unit and, eventually, more of your work to serve as
your own electronic portfolio.
◦ Write a little bit of general information about yourself and take
some time to play with different fonts, colors, lines, tables,
photos, etc.
◦ Make sure all information is appropriate to share with
EVERYONE!
◦ SAVE OFTEN!
• You may also spend a little time surfing other student pages that have already
been created or are being created (BE SURE TO FOLLOW ALL RULES OF ONLINE
BEHAVIOR IN EDITING PAGES AND ADDING DISCUSSION POSTS!
INAPPROPRIATE EDITS AND COMMENTS WILL EARN YOU A "0").
