Giving Update
The ministry of SHC is funded entirely by the
generous giving of Gods people. You will
notice that we do not pass the offering plate;
however, there are offering boxes in the back
of the auditorium. We believe from the Word
of God that the Spirit of God will lead people
towards giving back to God of their first fruits.
...God loves a cheerful giver, (2 Cor. 9:7).

Please prayerfully consider what the Lord

would have you do.

REMEMBER ... ITLL

ENCOURGE YOU!
Titus 3:3-8

Presented by
Pastor Matt MacCollin
August 16, 2015

But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind
appeared, He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have
done in righteousness, but according to His mercy... Titus 3:4-5

In Life magazines special edition on mobsters and

gangsters, there was an article with Wild Maggie Carson.
She was the leader of a band of young thieves. To be
exact, the gang was called The Forty Thieves of Five
Points, NY. Five Points at that time was a slum in New York
City.
With plain features and disfigured by small pox, Maggie was
sullen and disagreeable. Her matted hair, filthy dress and
compulsive habit of rubbing her eyes with clinched fists
made her repulsive to almost everyone but her gang of
unwanted children. Maggie and her gang would slip
through windows and doors left unlocked, taking loot back
to an older bunch of thieves. Her sinful nature left Maggie
wanted by the law, angry and unapproachable. Anyone
who approached her was met with a silent stare or a

scream to be left alone.

But eventually something
changed. According to the magazine article, Maggie was
saved! Apparently someone took a chance and reached
out to the ragged unreachable.
Reverend L. M. Pease reached out and shared the gospel
which Maggie accepted. She then went to the Five Points
Mission (an orphanage) and through a series of events met
Mr. and Mrs. Howe who ran the mission.
They then
considered bringing Wild Maggie into their family. When
approached by his wife as to whether they should adopt
the former criminal, Mr. Howe said, Never mind... I know all
about her. The more reason one should care for her! I
would rather take one of the worst, for the triumph will be
greater if we succeed. Well said!
Three people stepped out in faith, God intervened and
Maggies life was never the same.

PAUL WROTE TO TITUS WHO WAS A TRUSTED

PASTOR IN CRETE
Paul emphasized in this letter several themes:
 Gods choosing of people

 Gods grace toward people

Christ being God and that Christ will return

 Christs

sacrifice
accomplished

on

the

cross

and

what

is

Peoples awareness of life in Christ

Our passage today is beautiful because of what it reveals

about Gods love.

Our passage is everyday truth we should review often.

Who we were before Christ:

Our conduct, our depraved

mind and how dumb we were...
 Foolish

 Disobedient

 Deceived

 Enslaved

 Malice

 Envy

 Hateful

When

Gods kindness appeared

accomplished is awesome!
 Salvation

 Mercy

 Righteousness

 Regeneration

 Renewing

 Holy Spirit

 Grace

 Heirs

 Hope of eternal life

and

what

Christ

God wants us reminded often of our high calling.

 Be careful

 Be engaging

Be what people need it glorifies God.

THOUGHTS FOR THE ROAD

Remember to preach the gospel to yourself every day.

Remember in Christ you are a new creation.
