Top 10 Global CEOs who are from India

With Google announcing the reorganization and becoming a fully-owned


subsidiary of Alphabet Inc. everyone attention turned onto Googles new
CEO Sundar Pichai, an India-born former Product-chief at Google. Sundar
is not the only one to achieve this feat, India felt proud when last year
Microsoft announced Satya Nadella as its CEO. Here is a list of CEOs of
Multinational Corporations who are of Indian origin.
1. Sundar Pichai

Pichai Sundararajan better known as Sundar Pichai hails from


Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He earned his Bachelor of Engineering degree
from IIT Kharagpur in Metallurgical Engineering. He holds an M.S. from
Stanford University and an MBA from the Wharton School of the
University of Pennsylvania, where he was named a Siebel Scholar and a
Palmer Scholar. He joined Google in 2004 and led the product
management and innovation efforts for a suite of Google's client
software products, including Google Chrome and Chrome OS, as well as
being largely responsible for Google Drive.

2. Satya Nadella

Nadella, who hails from Hyderabad, has a Masters degree in Computer


Science from the University of WisconsinMilwaukee and an MBA from
the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. After joining
Microsoft in 1992, Nadella quickly became known within the company as
a leader who could span a breadth of technologies and businesses to
transform some of Microsofts biggest product offerings, according to
Microsoft.
3. Indra Nooyi

Nooyi received a Bachelor's degree from Madras Christian College in


1974 and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (MBA) from
Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta. She joined the Yale School
of Management in 1978 and earned a Master's degree in Public and
Private Management. She was named President and CEO of PepsiCo
on October 1, 2006, and became chairperson of the company on 2
May 2007. Her name figures consistently among the worlds most
powerful people, and is ranked 19th in the Equilar 100 CEO Pay
Study.
4. Shantanu Narayen

Narayen holds a Bachelor of Science in electronics engineering from


Osmania University, an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley,
and a Master of Science in computer science from Bowling Green State
University in Bowling Green, Ohio. Narayen, who too hails from
Hyderabad, is known for his leadership skills, technology insight and
operational expertise. CEO of Adobe systems, Shantanu Narayen is
among the worlds top paid tech CEOs.
5. Surya Mohapatra

Mohapatra holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Regional Engineering


College (now the National Institute of Technology), Rourkela, a Master of
Science in Medical Electronics, University of Salford, England; and a
Doctorate in Medical Physics from the University of London and the Royal
College of Surgeons of England. He was earlier president of Quest
Diagnostics Inc from June 1999 and its chief executive officer from May 4,
2004, to April 30, 2012. He currently serves as the chief executive officer
and president of Osborn Group, Inc, a company that offers risk assessment
services to the life insurance industry.
6. Francisco DSouza

D'Souza did his graduation in business administration from the University


of East Asia, has a Masters in Industrial Administration and a Master's
degree of Business Administration from Carnegie Mellon University.
Francisco, who hails from Goa, was chief operating officer, with
responsibility for Cognizant's global delivery, marketing and sales, business
development, and client services organizations. Currently working as CEO
of Cognizant Technology Solutions, hes named as one of the best CEOs has
nearly 25 years experience in IT industry.

7. Dinesh Paliwal

He did his BE from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee; MS in


Applied Science and Engineering and MBA in Finance from Miami
University
(Oxford,
Ohio).
Dinesh who is from Agra, was instrumental in building a diverse board and
strong leadership team, expanding the companys business in high growth
markets. During his 22 years with ABB, he held management positions in
five countries and was instrumental in the companys dramatic turnaround
during the period 20022007. As CEO and chairman of Harman

International, Dinesh Paliwal transformed Harman International into a


customer-centric and innovation-oriented company.
8. Sanjay Jha

He received a BS in engineering from the University of Liverpool and a


PhD in Electronics Engineering from the University of Strathclyde.
Sanjay Jha, who hails from Bihar, has also served as the COO of
Qualcomm, after beginning his career in the company in 1994 as a senior
engineer. Former co-CEO of Motorola, he is chief executive officer of
chipmaker Global Foundries, a semiconductor foundry that
manufactures integrated circuits mostly for companies such as AMD,
Broadcom, Qualcomm, and STMicroelectronics.
9. Ajay Bhanga

Banga graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) degree in Economics


from St. Stephen's College, Delhi University and MBA from the Indian
Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He began his career at Nestle in
India and spent two years at PepsiCo. Currently working as MasterCard
CEO Ajay Banga was ranked No 1 in the Chief Executive magazines Wealth
Creators Index. He is also the younger brother of another well-known CEO
M S Banga.

Sanjay Mehrotra

Mehrotra received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Electrical


Engineering and Computer Sciences from the University of California,
Berkeley, and is a graduate of the Stanford Graduate School of Business
Executive Program (SEP). Sanjay Mehrotra is co-founder, president and
chief executive officer of SanDisk Corporation, a global leader in flash
memory storage solutions. Earlier, Mehrotra served as SanDisks president
and chief operating officer starting in 2006.
