Advantages

1) IS 802, 806 - add the ability to analyze and design towers constructed from
Indian angle and circular hollow sections

The current design scope of STAAD(X).Tower has been expanded to design both angle
and tubular sections as per the following codes of practice:

Case Studies
Courses
Structural eSeminars
More Resources

a) Single equal leg angle sections as per IS:802 (part I/Section 2) -1992 for the
structural steel design of members of tower structures.
b) Tubular sections as per the Indian code of practice IS:806-1968 for the structural
steel design of tubular members of tower structures.

The design philosophy and procedures follow the allowable stress design method and
both failure by overstressing and failure by stability are considered.

2) Implementation of the Bentley Section Property Catalog (SPC), Section and

Material Catalog
In order to improve the integration potential of STAAD(X).Tower with products within the
Bentley structural group (using integrated structural modeling via Structural
Synchronizer V8i) and future products, the database in STAAD(X).Tower has been
updated with that provided by the Structural Synchronizer. STAAD(X) is leading the field
in products that will be using this section database system, but, in due course, more and
more products will be moving over to this system making integration between structural
applications a smoother process.

3) Complete redesign of the wizard to create user defined bracing panels

Though STAAD(X).Tower includes an extensive list of commonly used bracing patterns
for tower structures, you may find it necessary to add a custom pattern for your tower
structure. STAAD(X).Tower now includes a simple to use wizard that allows bracing
patterns to be created and added to the standard set so that it can be quickly called
upon and used when needed in the current and any future model.

4) Improved user reports to include snapshots of the model

User reports can now be enhanced with images taken directly from the program and
added to the user report along with the other input and result data and even exported as
a PDF file or emailed directly.

5) Export of models to STAAD.Pro

While STAAD(X).Tower provides all the key analysis and design features needed for
the majority of cases, there may well be occasions when special circumstances arise
and it will be necessary to use features that don't exist in STAAD(X).Tower, but do exist
in STAAD.Pro, such as different forms of analysis or unusual geometry. In order to do
this STAAD(X).Tower has been supplemented with the export option to transfer the
geometry and loading directly into a STAAD.Pro *.STD file.

6) Provide context sensitive help

The range of help functionality has been expanded to assist you while working with
STAAD(X).Tower. Select any item on the Explorer window and the associated help is
displayed in the help window.
More information about these features and enhancements can be found in the STAAD
(X).Tower online help.
