Hi Camp! Im not technically in Daily Double(I just exist with them in 3rd period). But when I
heard about the theme, feminism, for this issue, I
just wanted to put a quick disclaimer out for anyone
who may be confused. Feminism doesnt mean
that you hat men/anyone who doesnt identify as
female! It simply means you support equal rights
for all genders! For that reason, Im a feminist and
Im proud to say it! (If youre curious about this I
suggest doing some research and definitely check
out Emma Watsons speech at He for She.)
Womens Soccer
By Katherine Lambert
Womens soccer managers recently did something
so sexist I just had to write about it. They tried to
make the womens soccer players wear shorter
shorts, do their hair up fancy and put on excessive
make up. Now the women are getting more
beautiful, putting on make-up. They go in the field
in an elegant manner, Cunha (Brazil womens
soccer manager) recently said in an interview from
Montreal, as reported by The Globe and Mails
Stephanie Nolen. Womens football used to copy
mens football. Even the jersey model, it was more
masculine. We used to dress the girls as boys. So
the team lacked a spirit of elegance, femininity.
Now the shorts are a bit shorter, the hair styles
are more done up. Its not a woman dressed as a
man.* Well, excuse me! I thought soccer was
about playing soccer. Apparently I was very much
mistaken. Soccer is about (for women, at least)
looking pretty. Yeah, right.
Sepp Blatter, the president of the world
governing body Fifa, said women should have
skimpier kit to increase the popularity of the game.
Let the women play in more feminine clothes like
they do in volleyball, he said.** Excuse while I
go and puke. (A) Norwegian footballer (soccer
player), Solveig Gulbrandsen, said: If I wanted
to wear a bikini I would have chosen to play beach
volleyball.** You said it! Im glad to know
somebodys standing up for them.

How simple things like girls and boys toy sections are
affecting young minds
By Eleanor Dunne
Girl and Boy toy sections. Seems simple, right?
Wrong. Simple things like girl and boy toy sections can
effect how young people see the world. When a little girl
comes running up to you saying I like princesses! Boys
cant like princesses, girls cant like Superheroes! you
think Oh, shes too young to know better. Shell learn
when shes older.
But the thing is, if we dont teach, they dont learn.
Kids learn from an early age that girls are helpless, they
arent as good as boys. Boys cant like pink or dolls, and
girls cant like blue and superheroes. Things like toy sections
labeled girls and boys help enforce that. The Legos
and superheroes in the boys, dolls and princessess in the
girls. I didnt realize that girls are just as good as boys until
my mom forced me to read Harry Potter and watch Star
Wars. (Thank you, Hermione and Princess Leia!) Phrases
like run like a girl or a girl beat you can also imply
that girls are weak and helpless. Even things like Disney
movies can tell kids that girls cant rescue themselves! For
example: Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid,
Snow White, Aladdin, and 101 Dalmations. Disney made
a start with Frozen, Brave, Tangled, and Big Hero 6, but
they ruined Brave by giving a new image to Merida for the
merch. Not to mention Big Hero 6. The movie was great,
but they left Gogo and Honey Lemon off almost all the
merch!
Marvel is doing an okay job with their characters
(better than DC), but some of the characters in the comics
are a bit *cough cough.* The movies show that Black
Widow is a strong female character, but it discourages
girls because THERE STILL ISNT A BLACK WIDOW
MOVIE. CMON MARVEL! Not to mention Barbie. Barbie
is super sexist! Sure, its trying to tell girls that they can do
anything, but other things say otherwise. For example, the
Barbie I can be a computer engineer! book was so sexist,
they took it off of Amazon.
I think we could decrease the sexism in children by
getting rid of the girl and boy toy section and combining
them into just toys. Target is doing that (yay!) but itll take
a couple months. Hopefully, Target will be an example to
other buisnesses and theyll do the same. People could also
get a mix of pink and blue for their baby, no matter whether
its a girl or boy. Lastly, we get rid of phrases like run like
a girl or girl color or thats a girl thing and encourage
girls to do what they like, whether its watching Star Wars
or playing with dolls.
Feminism
Bye Mr. Ask
Ok so, one of the themes in Daily Double is
feminism, AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT
THAT IS! If you know what it is, put the
definition in the in the Ask for Ask pocket
OH! I forgot to tell you that Mr. Ask [me]
is actually a blood sucking alien, but due to
to the no sacrifice rule, I am forced to live off
food and water. This is what I look like: *big
fat fluffy kitten picture*. Until next time...
Emma Watson
By Katherine Lambert
Emma Watson is the greatest actress
of all time. She was, in case you dont know,
Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter
movie series. Not only does she play an
AMAZING character, she is an AMAZING
person in real life. She is part of the He for
She organization, which promotes gender
equality. Maybe you saw her speech on
YouTube, which was also AMAZING.
Unfortunately, also on YouTube, there is
also a video titled Emma Watson Speech
REBUTTAL. How someone who is dumb
enough to say something like that has the
intelligence to make a YouTube video, I
dont know. I guess you can find instructions
for anything on the internet these days.
Unfortunately, it doesnt end there.
In Hollywood, Emma Watson and other
female actors arent being paid as much
as male actors. According to a survey this
year, for every dollar men are paid, women
are paid 78 cents overall! Mothers are paid
even less than that. Republicans blocked the
Paycheck Fairness Act, which is a bill that
basically would have made it completely
illegal to pay female actors less than male
actors. What is really surprising about that
is all of the Republicans who were there
voted against it, even the three women. The
top Republican in Senate claims the attempt
at the bill was not actually supposed to do
something aout he problem, but instead to
win female votes for Democrats. What the
heck! There are better ways to do that!
Conservatives say that no such inequality
exists. They say the pay gap is a result of
womens life choices.
After Emma Watsons previously
mentioned speech, some people who
apparently are against gender equality
threatened the release of fake, insulting
photos of her.
What is their problem with gender
equality? It just means the two genders
being given given equal rights. Is that really
so bad? The answer is NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Project MC2
By Francesca Lodovico
Project MC2 is a cool new Netflix show. It
highlights how smart girls can be. As USNews.
com writer Lynn Elber states, Yes, its true.
Women do run the world, the head of a femalesonly spy agency tells four schoolgirl recruits in
Project MC2 Netflixs new series for tweens. As
if.
But spinning reality isnt the shows intent.
Instead, it seeks to encourage girls to do the math
and realize they are capable of succeeding in the
male-dominated fields of science and technology.
And this is true! So please check out this series.
1. The cornocoupia
While everyone else would be getting useful supplies I
would be running away from everyone else. The kids in
the hunger games are very intense and scary. I wanna get
out of there A.S.A.P.
2. Lack of food and water
First of all the water supplies are proaboubly blocked
and the other tributes are proboubly waiting for me there.
I wont risk that! Also if I killed a rabbit to eat I would
feel bad about it for a very long time.
3. Lack of social skills
Im not very charasmatic or friendly so I would get no
support from the capital. I would be to intimidated to
attempt at making an alliance.
4. I would just suck
I dont have any useful hunger games skills. I cant hide
or kill or set up traps. I would die right away.
Thats it for now thanks for reading! Peace out

Ask Harry 5
By: Rachel Alpert-Wisnia
Dear Whoever You Are, Many campers have been taking too many
cookies/snacks. Should we turn a blind eye, because they just want
yummy food, or get mad, because it is unfair? What should we do?
-Concerned Counselors
Its acceptable to want good food. Desserts are really good, but a good
solution is to provide a little more dessert, and only give it to them if
they have food on their plate. Check if they have food and give them
more cookies to them if they do, and only one if they have no food/one
crumb of food/just a drink.
First Question:
Whats your favorite movie?
My answer:
Harry Potter movies. Duh.
Second Question:
Why am I so evil?
-Dante
My answer:
Well, Dante, Ive seen you around
and I may have an answer for this
question. Because you love killing
children.
Third Question:
Do you really really like ice
cream?
My answer:
Yes, yes I do. Especially frog
flavored.
Fourth Question:
Dear Hairy Potter,

called Hairy Potter, but if you

book is the sixth. Wanna know
why? Its the first book where I
kiss Ginny. And as you all know,
Ginny is a GREAT kisser. So
that was pretty eventful.
Well, that was fun! Stay tuned for
