14:00 18:00 Intercultural Training Studying and Living in Germany
Studying and Living in Germany
Coming from Brazil, studying at a German university with its own specific culture
and living in Germany might be challenging - although we are all from academic
background. In this workshop, we will work on the issue of studying and living in
Germany. We want to collect tips and tricks on how to survive successfully in a
German university, how to communicate and cooperate with your professors, other
students and the university administration at TUM and to what to pay attention to in
daily life, e.g. in the dorm.
In this workshop, you will:
learn to understand the function of stereotypes and reflect their influence on
our perception of intercultural situations
learn to analyse intercultural situations in the university with the tool of the
culture dimensions
discuss strategies to deal with intercultural situations in Germany and at
TUM
get the basics to feel more secure when intercultural situations occur
learn how to deal with Culture Shock
The workshop will be a mix of input, working on case studies, discussions, group
work, etc. We are looking forward to meeting you!
