1. Introduction
1.1 About this document
This document is envisaged to describe the functions of the Nursing Station Module of
Jeeva. This document is based on the customized version of the Software implemented
at KEM Hospital.
1.2 About the Module
The Nursing Station module handles all the requirements of the Wards / Nursing Stations
of the hospital. The activities of this module can be classified into the following
categories

Ward Management

Following are some of the salient features of this module

User-friendly Interface (GUI).

Integrated with other modules like patient billing, pharmacy, In-patients,

Purpose
This is used for booking laboratory tests for the InPatients in different wards controlled by nursing stations
across the hospital.
This is used for ordering medicines for the In-Patients
by the nursing stations. Indents can be raised on the
central pharmacy or any other designated stores.
This is used for charging the patients for the services
rendered in the ward.
This is used for transferring Patients from one bed to
another in the same ward or different ward
This is used for viewing the laboratory results of
different tests and procedures performed for the selected
patient
This is used for viewing the status of the laboratory
orders raised by the ward / nursing stations
This is used for entering data which has to be captured
while dealing with medico legal cases
This is used for giving special instructions for patients
by the doctor/nurse.
This is used for viewing the Operation Theater
Schedules
This is used for viewing the status of the pharmacy
indents raised.
This gives the details of the medicines issued to Patients
in the wards

2.2 Patient List


Purpose
The details of patients admitted in the ward are displayed in form a list. Select a patient
from the list and then required activities of patient management can be performed. The
admission, discharge and transfer processes update the list.

2.3 Laboratory Orders


Process
This process is used for raising requests for laboratory / radiology investigations
prescribed for the patient. These requests will be displayed as pending orders in the LIS /
RIS system.
Cancellation Of Requests
The system will have provision for canceling the requests raised. The cancellation will
be allowed only for un-accepted requests. The necessary audit trail will be maintained by
the system.
Request Status
The request status can be monitored by the Lab Order Status option. The following
processes will update the status of the order.

Request Acceptance
The requests raised by the Ward / Nursing station are posted into the LIS / RIS as pending
orders. These orders are then accepted / rejected by the respective laboratories.
Charging for the Tests Requested
The charges for the tests / investigations requested are updated by the Order acceptance /
Sample collection process in respective laboratories.
Document Generated
This process will generate a Laboratory Request, which will be uniquely identified by a
Lab Order No.

2.4 Pharmacy Indents


Process
This process is used for raising indents for medicines / disposables prescribed for the
patient. These indents will be displayed as pending indents in the respective stores
(pharmacy module).
Cancellation Of Indents
The system will have provision for canceling the indents raised. The cancellation will be
allowed only for indents for which issues are not made by the respective store. The
necessary audit trail will be maintained by the system.
Indent Status
The indent status can be monitored by the Pharmacy Order Status option.

This process is used for charging the patient for the services / procedures performed in
the ward.
Cost Of the Service
The cost of the selected service is based on the tariff category and the bed category of the
selected patient.
Service Description
System will have a provision to display the frequently used services. This list can be
defined based on the nursing station. The services to be charged for the patient can be
picked from this list.

3.2 Pharmacy Indents


Process
This process will be used for raising indents on Central Stores or any other designated
stores. The system will have facility to setup pre-defined list of items to be indented on a
weekly / monthly basis.
Indents raised by this process will be sent to the designated stores and the store will issue
the indented material. The nursing station / ward would be considered as a Department
by the Pharmacy module.
Cancellation of Indents
The system will have facility to cancel the Indents raised. However cancellation will be
allowed for indents, which are not yet accepted by the designated store.
Indent Status
The indent status can be monitored by the Department Indent Status option.

Process
This process will be used for raising indents on General Stores or any other designated
store.
Indents raised by this process will be sent to the designated stores and the store will issue
the indented material. The nursing station / ward would be considered as a Department
by the General Store module.
Cancellation of Indents
The system will have facility to cancel the Indents raised. However cancellation will be
allowed for indents, which are not yet accepted by the designated store.
