IV Answer in brief.

4 marks

Q-1: How will you confirm that given seeds are monocot or dicot?
Ans: 1) Soak the given seeds in water for 6-8 hours.2)Take seeds one by one and press it between your
finger and thumb .3)Seeds which divide into two halves are dicot seeds and the seeds which cannot divide
into two halves are monocot seeds.
Q-2: Why is seed dispersal necessary?
Ans: If a plant seed fall near the parental plant ,then more plants grow in nearby area but it is necessary that
the plant species spread over different and distance places. So by seed carries, seed dispersal over long
distance is necessary.

Q-4: How are seeds dispersal by wind? Explain it with example.
Ans: Some seeds are very light in weight and have thin fibers. So they can move to many distant place due
to wind. Thus wind helps in seed dispersal.v Eg. seeds of Calotropis, Pomgamia (Kanji) and bombax are
light in weight fibrous . So they are dispersed by wind.
Q-5: Explain in short about underground stem.
Ans: Ginger, potato occur in soil become fleshy. They are food storing stem. Such stem possesses
adventious roots, nodes and bucks. Scaly leaves occure on the nodes, even though such structures is in soil,
