DOLE, TESDA CONDUCT JOB SKILLS MATCHING AND EMPLOYMENT
COACHING FOR TECH-VOC GRADS
The Department of Labor and Employment and Technical Education and Skills
Development Authority offered technical-vocational graduates with job skills matching
and employment coaching in pre-labor activity on April 21, 2015. More than 200 techvoc graduates lined-up for the said event wherein a pre-registration activity for the
scheduled Labor Day 2015 Grand Jobs Fair was also conducted.
DOLE-Cordillera Regional Director Henry John S. Jalbuena, said that The Department
is preparing you (tech-voc graduates) to have decent jobs and livelihood as expressed
in 2015 Labor Day theme: Disenteng Trabaho at Kabuhayan Alay Natin sa Bayan
through this job skills matching and Employment Coaching.
He also added, DOLE is getting you ready to the ASEAN Integration where there will
be labor force movement from one industry to another industry and one country to
another country. We have to adjust to the need of the labor market; we need skilled
workers for the betterment of our country.
Composing the participants are tech-voc graduates from metal trades, Automotive,
Construction, Information and Computer Technology, Health, Social and other
Community Development Services, Tourism and other trades.
For the employment coaching, Ms. Judith Adina, guidance counselor of the University of
the Cordilleras presented How to Market Yourself; Ms. Lucille T. Gayaman, Senior Labor
Employment Officer of DOLE gave a lecture on Labor Market Information while Mark
Tungpalan of DOLE Baguio-Benguet Field Office discussed Labor Education for
Graduates.
This pre-labor day activity will help the Tech-Voc graduates application process for the
Job Fair easier because the DOLE-CAR will already match their qualifications to the job
openings in the jobs fair. They are also advised to bring the pre-employment
requirements and DOLE will guide them to their employers, locally or abroad, that best
match their qualifications.

Director Jalbuena, disclosed that as of April 21, there are already 42 employers who will
join the May 1- Labor Day Jobs Fair with around 14,000 job vacancies to be open for
application.
TESDA Regional Director Jucar added, Kung mag-aaply ka ng trabaho, hindi lang
naman tatanungin sa iyo kung anong kursong natapos mo, pero tatanungin din kung
anong skills ang mayroon saiyo.
Jalbuena added, The DOLE together with its partners is willing to walk the extra mile
for you to have decent work and for the higher of quality of life of Bayan.
