Question 1:
Please refer to Chapter 3 in Ronald W. Frys e-book entitled Get
Organized: How to Study Programme (available online at WOU
MyDigitalLibrarys E-Course Reserves:
http://woulibrary.wou.edu.my/library/finding_lskills.aspx).
(a) There some suggestions in this chapter to help
improve our concentration. Discuss if each of these
steps can help you focus while studying.
(25 marks)
(b) The author has suggested several places for us to
study. Where do you usually study? Why have you
chosen that particular place(s)?
(15
marks)

(c) When do you study best? Elaborate your answer with

personal experiences and relevant examples.
(10 marks)

Answers:
(a) In this chapter, the author has some suggestion on staying
focus on our study. Before we start our study, we should create
a place which is comfortable for us to study. The place should
have a proper chair, desk and lighting. We also can take some
time to decide and design the place so that the study area is
suitable and comfortable to us. The placement and intensity of
lighting may affect our concentration and focus on our study.
We can have some test on the intensity and the way of placing
the lighting so that we able to find a comfort zone which the
light is not too bright or too dark to us. Sometime attraction
from other people may affect our concentration during our
study. Set some rules for ourselves and also let other to know
the rules of yours. This is to let others peoples know that we
are staying focus to study and this is very important for us.

(b) Places that I use to study will be library. I choose to study

at the library as library able to provide a comfortable
environment to study. It has a bright lighting as well as
standard table and chair. Study at library able to keep us focus
as the place is quiet and less distraction from others such as
friends are calling you. Study at library can easily access the
materials that I need to do my research for my study. I also can
create a comfort zone with my course mate to study together
as we can set a small corner with few comfort chairs and some
soft music. When I study at library, it will give me a mind set to
study and I able to keep more focus on it.

(c) Best time for me to study will be at night time. It has been
my habits since I was in secondary school. I had chosen to
study at night time when I know that my best performance
period is at night. I usually feel tired during afternoon and I will
get some nap. At night, especially mid night, I am able to stay
more focus to do things. Night time also make me few cool as
the air temperature is lower compare to day time. This will not
making me feel sleepy.

Question 3:
Have you attempted the Index of Learning Styles Questionnaire
provided by the North Carolina State University
(http://www.engr.ncsu.edu/learningstyles/ilsweb.html)? What is
your Learning Styles?
After recognizing your learning style, what are the steps you
can take to maximize your learning?
(25 marks)

Answer:
After attempting the Index of Learning Styles Questionnaire by
the North Carolina States University, I found that I am more as
a Visual Learner.
As a Visual Learner, I can make use of colours. I can use
different colours of highlighters to highlight the main point so
that easy for me to memorise. For example, I can use different
colour for fact points and other colour for theory point. Other
than using a highlighter, I can process flow chart or mapping to
list out not only main point but also able to connect with other
concept. It is easy to get focus by enclosing the points or facts
into boxes or circles and connect them with lines or arrows.
Besides of materials in paper form, using reading materials in
videotapes or CR-ROM form also help me to maximise my
learning. It helps me more to better understanding in aspect of
some process by showing me the steps and sequences.
Providing me the actual visual on the course which involving
some kind of experiment. While materials such as diagrams,
photographs also able to show a better explain as we always
says: A photo means a thousand words.
