COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course deals with the concepts, principles and theories of human
behavior and the care of the sick client across the lifespan with emphasis on
cellular aberration, acute biologic crisis, including emergency and disaster
nursing along with Intravenous therapy in varied settings.
GENERAL OBJECTIVE
At the end of the course, given relevant simulated situations involving
concepts, principles and theories of human behaviour, health promotion, disease
prevention, health maintenance, risk reduction, curative and rehabilitative aspect
of the care of the sick client across the lifespan, the student will be able to apply
the nursing process in the care of individuals, families, population group in
selected settings.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
1. Assesses client/s condition/health status through data derived from
case scenarios (history, physical examination, interpretation of
laboratory findings)
2. Identifies actual and at risk nursing diagnosis
3. Plans appropriate nursing interventions with client/s and family for
identified nursing diagnosis
4. Implements plan of care with client/s and family
5. Evaluates the progress of his/her/their clients condition and outcomes
of care
6. Ensure a well-organized and accurate documentation system,
7. Utilize bioethical concepts/principles, core values and nursing
standards in the care of clients, and
8. Integrate the various competencies in the various key areas of
responsibilities in the care of selected clients.
