PATRON Introduction Date:...................................
Prof. Mathura Pd. Shrestha
ADVISORS Climate change has been a major issue of world today with multipronged
Mr. Nanda Kr. Thapa effects in all aspects of life threatening the very continuation of civilisation of
our mother earth. It has also got adequate attention lately worldwide though
Dr. Shyamal Bhattacharya
much remains to be done yet. The impacts of climate change are of course all
Dr. Bharat Pradhan interrelated making the subject very complicated needing multidimensional
Dr. Sharad Onta approach to address the issues. Of the various impacts of climate change
Dr. Ganesh Gurung impact on Health is also one of the major one and we, being Medical students
Dr. Mahesh Maskey wish to enlighten ourselves on the issue specifically.
Dr. Somnath Aryal
The health impacts of climate change are also multipronged some directly
Dr. B.R. Joshi
affecting the health while others indirectly. The effects on health ranges from
Dr. Nilambar Jha the direct loss of lives and public health infrastructures due to increasing
Dr. B.H. Paudel natural(due to climate change) disasters like excessive precipitations, floods,
Dr. B.K. Bhattarai and other extremes of weather to those arising from the changing trends of
Dr. Narendra Bhatta infectious diseases, occupational health hazards and environment related
Dr. Mohan C. Regmi diseases. The effects of decreased agricultural productions because of
extremes of weather and the resulting malnutrition also have immense effects.
Dr. Madhur Basnet Much has been talked of and done regarding the health impacts of climate
Co-ordinator change though more remains to be done. Even then whatever has been done
Anmol Pradhan has been less talked about at the grass root levels with the related people. So
Sub Co-ordinator being Medical students we aim at learning about the issue more thoroughly
Gyaneshwor Rai and take initiative at our level whatever we can, regarding the issue. This
seminar is also organized in preparation for the World congress of
Secretary International Physicians for Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW) being held in
Aakash Kr. Soni Switzerland in September 2010. As young student leaders we are planning to
Joint Secretary start a new project on Climate Change and Health Impacts in the IPPNW

endeavor would count something in the matter.
