Men’s Player Spotlight: TOM ROOT


Tom Root is not only a new player to the game of
tennis but he is also a new residence to Orange Beach
area. He and his wife, moved her from Lexington KY.
Tom began in September 2009 after meeting many
of the guys that play every Monday night.
In addition to playing tennis, Tom enjoys racquetball, golf
and swimming.
Tom enjoys the people he has met while playing ten-
nis. He also enjoys Biking, boating, reading, traveling and
working out.
What would you like to see more in the tennis com-
munity? Tom says “I am very impressed with the overall
tennis community and the way everyone supports each
other.

Junior Player Spotlight: ALEX OLSSON


Alex is 15 years old and goes to
Gulf Shores High School. His dad in-
spired him to begin playing at the age of
5.
Ground strokes compared to vol-
ley’s are his favorite because he can hit
them harder. Also, singles compared to
doubles is his favorite type of game be-
cause he does not have to worry about
letting his partner down.
Alex enjoys hanging out with
friends in his free time. He enjoys the
competition and friends that he has meet
playing the game of tennis.

Woman’s Player Spotlight:        GWEN WHITNEY 
  Gwen has lived in the Gulf Shores area for  friends she has made.  She has made a lot of
