HOW TO PLAY
GAME OF THE YEAR EDITION

1. Install Dead Island GOTY Edition (REVOLT or PROPHET Release recommended)

2. Download the LAN-Fix V2 + DLC Unlocker and extract it to your Game InstallFolder
3. Join the Dead Island Network
4. Start the Game with DeadIslandGame.exe or via Shortcut
5. Play till Chapter 1 (Otherwise you can't join Games)
6. Set your Online Settings to LAN
7. Join any Match
8. Have Fun

STANDARD EDITION
1. Install Dead Island (RELOADED Release recommended)
2. Download Update 7 (V1.3.0.0) and extract it to your Game InstallFolder
3. Download the LAN-Fix V2 + DLC Unlocker and extract it to your Game InstallFolder
4. Join the Dead Island Network
5. Start Steam with "Greenluma.exe"
6. Start the Game with DeadIslandGame.exe or via Shortcut
7. Play till Chapter 1 (Otherwise you can't join Games)

HELP SECTION
HOW TO FIX: Bloodbath Arena DLC not working@
1. Open the folder where the game was installed
2. Open the DI/Data folder. There will be the Menu folder, and files starting from act1 through all
the others.
3. Find the files called DLC0 through DLC9 and delete ALL the "DLC*_present" files, but leave
all the "DLC*_available" files alone. So remove DLC1_present, DLC2_present, etc. up to
DLC9_present.
4. Start the game. Bloodbath Arena should properly become available for you to play.

HOW TO PLAY: WITH STEAM/GREENLUMA/SMARTSTEAM

OPTIONAL: Create a new Steam Account with a new Email address!
NOTE: You can use the "INTERNET" Mode now. With Steamworks.Fix all DLC will be unlocked, no
matter what you're using (SmartSteam or Greenluma). Normal Steam works too.
1. Follow the Instructions on the Top
2. Download the Steamworks.Fix and extract it to your Game Folder
3. (Optional) Remove the "steamclient.dll" File from your Game Install folder

4. Download and Install Steam Client

5. (Optional) Download latest GreenLuma and extract it to your Steam Folder
6. (Optional) Download SmartSteam Client and extract it anywhere
7. Run Steam/Greenluma/Smartsteam and login
8. (Optional) Join the Steam Community Group
9. Run "DeadIslandGame.exe" or Shortcut
10. Play till Chapter 1, now you can join LAN games > Ensure Online settings is set to INTERNET

HOW TO FIX: GREYED-OUT LOBBIES

If your lobby is greyed is due to one (or both) of the following reasons:

You have to play till Chapter 1

The size of your steam_api.dll located in game folder is 16kb (as opposed to something
like over 120kb) which means you're using an update/fix that doesn't require steam to run the game
and therefore you cannot play multiplayer. Use thissteam_api.dll

The number inside steam_appid.txt file is 91310 or 57940 , you need a different
number, like 65900 or 17700. Your lobby will be greyed if you use 57940! So change it.

Also please make sure that your game visibility is set to LAN (in game, Options>Online->Game Visibility)

HOW TO: RETRIEVE LOST SAVEGAMES

Move your saves to the current save folder

RELOADED's (SP) Save Game Path = "C:\ProgramData\Steam\RLD!\91310\"

Fix V1 Save Game Path = "..\Steam\userdata\<USER_ID>\17700\remote\" or

"..\Steam\userdata\<USER_ID>\65900\remote\"

Fix V2 Save Game Path = "..\Dead Island\Save" (Current)

HOW TO FIX: POOR LOBBIES

If you have no lobbies in the lobby list or just a few, traveling to the map Last Resort can make a
difference. Also make sure you have appid 17700!
You can also try this (as seen here)
1. Go to your steam install dir. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\.
2. Delete clientregistry.blob.
3. Go to your Dead Island install dir. C:\Program Files (x86)\Dead Island\.
4. Find steam_appid.txt Right Click Properties Untick Read-Only.
5. Edit steam_appid.txt and change whatever 5 digit number in there to 65900 (or 17770 if the
lobby is greyed out with the previously mentioned).
6. steam_appid.txt Right Click Properties tick Read-Only.
7. Go to Network and Sharing click change adapter settings press ALT click Advanced
Advanced Settings then change your Wireless or Local Area Connection to the TOP.

8. Restart your computer, boot up Tunngle join Dead Island channel, boot up smartsteam or
greenluma, boot up Dead Island, press ESC click Game Lobby and youre good to go!

HOW TO: PREVENT LOST SAVEGAMES

1. Completely uninstall Steam (WARNING: This will completely delete any savegames you already
had unless your steam_api.dll is 16kb in size)
2. Delete the Steamfolder
3. Clean your Windows Registry with CCleaner (Using at your own Risk!)
4. Create new account on Steam
5. Re-Install Steam and copy Greenluma
6. Add Dead Island to Non-Steam Games
7. Follow the "How to Play" Tutorial

HOW TO: PREVENT GAME STUTTERING

If you experience stuttering while playing, set your Game Visibility to LAN or Single Player. The
stuttering is due to the Internet Matchmaking system.

HOW TO: SKIP INTRO

Just add a parameter through Tunngle or through a shortcut, use the parameter "-nologos"

GENERAL TIPS

When you have come to Chapter 1 you can press Esc and then click Game Lobby to join others.
Remember that you can only join games that are on chapters that are lower than the one you are on,
or games that are on the same chapter as you. Not games on higher chapters (they will not even
show up in lobby).

In-game, you can fast travel to Arena Lobby (you need to be in at least chapter 2) and join/host
games there (you cannot host or join others while you are inside one of the 4 arenas - you can only do
so in Arena Lobby); OR you can walk to the door inside (fast travel to)Jungle Tunnel where there is
the side quest with the lady asking you for help her husband in the flipped-over car.

You can check your scores(and those of other people using the same appid as you) by going to
main menu (blood menu) and choosing Extras then Leaderboards, and there you can also see coop
scores by clicking Next Leaderboard.

Este artculo te servir como una sencilla gua paso a paso para instalar en tu
computadora el software adicional necesario que te permitir jugar Dead Island en lnea
con otras personas. Los programas que te permitirn activar el modo de juego
Cooperative son Tunngle y SmartSteam.

Pasos
1.

Descarga el juego. El funcionamiento de esta gua est verificado para las versiones
RELOADED y KaOs.

Instala Steam y crea una nueva cuenta de usuario desde esta

Ahora descarga SmartSteam en: http://cs.rin.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?t=56305&f=29 El
link de descarga hasta hasta el final de la primera entrada en el tema. La versin actual es
la 1.4.1.

Coloca los archivos de SmartSteam que acabas de descargar en la carpeta de
archivos en la que instalaste Steam. En otras palabras: copia la carpeta comprimido
SmartSteam de tu directorio de descargas a la carpeta de Steam, y extrae ah los
archivos.

Instala Tunngle y crea una cuenta de usuario. El link de descarga lo encuentras en la

Si tu computadora usa Windows XP, al final de la instalacin de Tunngle se abrir
una ventana emergente que solicitar tu permiso para instalar adicionalmente un
adaptador. Da clic en "Continue" o "Aceptar" o la opcin afirmativa disponible. Es
necesario que instales este adaptador al final de la instalacin. No hay ningn virus ni
malware oculto en los archivos. Al final de la instalacin, reinicia tu computadora.

Ahora que tienes la versin original del juego, Tunngle y SmartSteam instalados en
tu computadora, necesitas descargar la actualizacin de Dead Island. La ltima
actualizacin disponible del juego es la Update 3, que puedes descargar

Copia el archivo de actualizacin que descargaste a la carpeta de Dead Island,
donde tienes todos los archivos del juego. Extrae los archivos del paquete de
actualizacin para sobrescribir los anteriores.

Ya casi ests listo para jugar en lnea en el modo Co-Op. Entra con tu usuario y
contrasea en Tunngle y encuentra una red o sala de Dead Island abierta, buscando
"Dead Island" en la barra de bsqueda. Ejecuta el archivo SmartSteam.exe que tienes en
la carpeta de archivos de Steam. Ve al botn "Games" en la parte superior de la pantalla,
porque Steam se cargar como opcin default, y necesitars cambiar a la opcin "Add a
Non-steam game to your Game Library". Encuentra tu archivo DeadIsland.exe en la
carpeta de archivos del juego y adelo.

Ahora puedes ir a la carpeta de archivos de DeadIsland, dar doble clic en
deadisland.exe y ejecutar el juego de la manera usual. Ve a Options > Online y elige el
modo Cooperative y conexin LAN. Da clic en "Play" y permite que el juego avance hasta
terminar el prlogo. La siguiente secuencia de juego comienza cuando has ayudado al
salvavidas. Ya puedes presionar la tecla ESC y dar clic en Game Lobby. Ah encontrars a
otros jugadores en lnea para enlazarte en una partida cooperativa, y olvidars que alguna
vez tuviste problemas para hacerlo.
