Picnic Table
Pressure Treated Lumber
Instructions
To build the table top, first decide on the
width and length. A table 429 wide by 729
long will seat six comfortably. Tip: It’s
easiest to stain the wood before screwing
the pieces into place.
• Place 2 x 4s on edge, side by side, and
fasten them together by screwing 2 x 2
crosspieces on the underside. You’ll need
a total of four crosspieces (two pairs).
Attach these parallel to each other at
right angles to the tabletop decking, posi-
tioning each pair approximately 129 from
table ends. These crosspiece pairs form
the brackets you’ll slide the table legs into
for support. Crosspieces should be
screwed for maximum strength.
• The table legs are made of 2 x 4s and
2 x 10s screwed together to form a box.
Screw through the brackets into the
edges of the 2 x 10s to fasten legs firmly
to tabletop.
• Follow essentially the same steps to build
the benches. One difference is the bench
legs are sandwiched 2 x 10s rather than
