Installation of LIDOS

To install LIDOS, your system must meet certain requirements. In the course of the installation
process, a number of tests must be successfully completed before LIDOS can be used.

3.1.

System requirements

Operating system: Windows operating system, from Windows 95

DVD drive (only for installation from DVD)

"Single workstation" installation:

approx. 50-85 MB free hard disk space.

"Single workstation with data" installation:

Several GB of free hard disk space. For more details regarding the volume of data, refer to the
label of the DVD.

3.2.

LIDOS installation options

You have the option to choose between four different installation options. These are described in
more detail at the end of the reference guides.

Installation option 1: "Single workstation" (system data only)

Only the system data required to run the program is installed on the local PC. To run LIDOS, the
respective DVD must be placed in the drive.

Installation option 2: "Single workstation with data"

All data of the respective machine type is copied to the local PC. Refer to the DVD label to find out
the data volume and check whether this space is available on your PC. If you have already
installed a previous version of the same machine type data, only some of the data is replaced and
added, so that the space requirements are lower. By synchronising the data, the time required for
an update is considerably shorter than that needed for an initial installation.

Installation option 3: "Server"

Select this installation option if you wish to transfer the data from the DVD to the server. This has
the advantage that an unlimited number of workstations can work simultaneously using the data on
the server.
Client Installation option 3-1: "Single workstation" (system data only)
Install LIDOS with the server data on the workstations.
Update: If you have already set up LIDOS workstations as clients in a client-server environment,
the workstations must also be updated as the server data can otherwise not be accessed.
Client Installation option 3-2: "Single workstation with data"
Install LIDOS with server data on a laptop or other mobile PC. All necessary data is copied.
Subsequently, it is not necessary to be connected to the server to use LIDOS. This installation
option is used to quickly update laptops (with or without DVD drive).

Installation option 4: "WebService Client"

The system data of all earth moving machine types are installed on your local PC. To use the
LIDOS WebService, you must be connected to the Internet. Through the WebService, you are
automatically granted access to the service documentation.

Service documentation

The Liebherr service-documentation is included on DVD 3 and is available in five languages:

-

German (de)
English (en)
French (fr)
Italian (it)
Spanish (es)

Each DVD contains the service-documentation in one language.

Refer to the DVD label ("DVD 3 xx") to find the copy in the desired language.

4.1.

System requirements

Operating system: Windows operating system, from Windows 95

DVD drive (only for installation from DVD)

"Single workstation with data" installation:

Several GB of free hard disk space.
For more details regarding the volume of data, refer to the label of the DVD.

Note
Language settings
The service-documentation can be installed in five languages. Please note that the
LIDOS program must be adjusted to match the selected data language.
For details regarding the switching of the data language in LIDOS please refer to
chapter 2.5 "Language settings" in "LIDOS_GB.doc".

Note
Service-documentation
The service-documentation can be installed without installing the LIDOS program.
If LIDOS is installed at a later stage, the service-documentation cannot be directly
accessed from LIDOS, as the
button is not available.
 Repeat the service-documentation installation.
> The LIDOS program is updated with the missing
button to access the service
documentation. As the data of the service-documentation is synchronised, the

4.2.

Installation of service documentation

You have the option to choose between different installation options. These are described in more
detail at the end of the reference guides.

Installation option 1: "Single workstation" (system data only)

Only the system data required to run the program is installed on the local PC.
To work with the service documentation, the respective DVD must be placed in the drive.

Installation option 2: "Single workstation with data"

All data is copied to the local PC. Refer to the DVD label to find out the data volume and check
whether this space is available on your PC. If you have already installed a previous version, only
some of the data is replaced and added (update), so that the space requirements are lower. By
synchronising the data, the time required for an update is considerably shorter than that needed for
an initial installation.

Installation option 3: "Server"

Select this installation option if you wish to transfer the data from the DVD to the server. This has
the advantage that an unlimited number of workstations can work simultaneously using the data on
the server.
Client Installation option 3-1: "Single workstation" (system data only)
Install the service documentation with the server data on the workstations.
Update: If you have already set up workstations with the service documentation as clients in a
client-server environment, these must be updated after the server installation is completed. Direct
access to the documentation by clicking the
button in LIDOS is not possible.
Client Installation option 3-2: "Single workstation with data"
Install the service documentation with server data on a laptop or other mobile PC. All necessary
data is copied. Subsequently, it is not necessary to be connected to the server to use the service
documentation. This installation option is used to quickly update laptops (with or without DVD drive).

"ProSecCo" license utility

To work with the various LIDOS programs, they must be installed and properly licensed. For this
purpose, you need the "Professional Security Control Client" ("ProSecCo") license utility. In the
"ProSecCo" utility, the authorization code sent to you by e-mail or fax must be entered and stored.
After the authorization code is registered, the "ProSecCo" license utility shows all programs that
are currently licensed and thus installable. You can then continue with installing these LIDOS
programs.

Note
Uninstalling LIDOS
If you have uninstalled LIDOS, the "ProSecCo" license utility and the authorization code
remain on your PC. You therefore do not need to apply for a new authorization code, if
you wish to reinstall LIDOS or an updated version of the program at a later stage.

Note
Installation Server
No authorization code is required for "Server" installation (server license currently not
available).
To complete a client installation, a valid authorization code must be registered in the
"ProSecCo" license program on the client.

Note
"ProSecCo" license utility
If the "ProSecCo" license utility is uninstalled and subsequently reinstalled on your PC,
you must request a new authorization code.
The previously used authorization code is not valid.

FAQ

7.1.

When do I need to apply for an authorization code?

You need a new authorization code ...

-

if you have not yet requested such a code for LIDOS.

if you wish to install the program on a new PC.
if the hard disk of your PC has been replaced.
if the image of a data recovery program has been loaded to your PC.

7.2.

How can I use the program if I have no DVD drive?

There are two options to install LIDOS on a PC that is not equipped with a DVD drive:
-

"Server" installation with subsequent "Single station with data" client installation
Installation through a DVD drive of a different PC

1. "Server" installation with subsequent "Single station with data" client installation
The data from the DVD can be transferred to the hard disk of the server from any PC with a DVD
drive.
To do this, complete a "Server" installation as described in chapter 3.5.
On the PC without DVD drive, start the "Single station with data" installation as described in
chapter 3.4.
This allows you to install LIDOS on a PC that is not equipped with a DVD drive.
This installation option is also very quick.

2. Installation through a DVD drive of a different PC

Make the DVD drive of another PC available and place the DVD in this drive.
On the PC without DVD drive, set up a connection to the DVD drive made available above. In
Windows Explorer, select the menu option "Tools Map network drives ..." to establish a
connection to the DVD drive. Select the letter of the drive and enter the destination directory
("\\server name\release").
 Start the LIDOS installation.

7.3.

Can I combine different LIDOS versions?

There are no restrictions as regards the installation of different LIDOS programs. Depending on the
requirements, you can complete one or more LIDOS installations.
Each LIDOS program can be run independently.

7.4.

What does the expiry date indicate?

Two weeks prior to the expiry date, you will be prompted every time you start your PC that you
should install the latest program version. During these two weeks up to and including the date of
expiry, you can continue working with the current program version. Subsequently, the expired
program cannot be run anymore. To install the update version, you do NOT need to request a new
authorization code. Simply install the new program version and continue working with LIDOS.
