In the 1920's Dr. Johanna Brandt experimented on herself to find a cure for her own cancer.

Her main focus was on "single food" experiments, which made her a world-class expert on a
long list of foods that DON'T cure cancer before she found the one that DID. Grapes are now
known to contain resveratrol, which does indeed have profound anti-cancer potential. Modern
research has found that an enzyme called CYP1B1 found in cancer cells converts resveratrol
into a chemical called piceatannol that kills the cancer cell. You can check your local health
food store or search the Internet for sources of resveratrol and try it for yourself to see if your
cancer has CYP1B1. "I have seen it work miracles in some cases of cancer", writes Dr.
Robert Jay Rowen. Two tablets of resveratrol daily can also help prevent cancer. After a
certain point the Grape Cure permits consumption of cottage cheese, which allows the Grape
Cure to dovetail nicely with Dr. Johanna Budwig's flaxseed oil and cottage cheese cancer
therapy.
Resveratrol belongs to a family of chemicals that have been named Salvestrols. Salvestrols
are produced by plants when defending themselves from attack by fungi. Salvestrols are
metabolized by the enzyme CYP1B1 in cancer cells, and the resulting metabolites kill the
cancer cell. You can obtain salvestrols by eating organically grown red and green foods.
Dr. Max Gerson's treatment for cancer patients includes drinking one glass of fresh juice
each waking hour of the day (see his book A Cancer Therapy). In Holland, Dr. Moerman's
vegetarian diet, including these juices, is recognized by the government as a legitimate
cancer therapy (see Dr. Moerman's Anti-Cancer Diet by Ruth Jochems).
Arthritis has been treated successfully with juices for many decades in Europe (see There Is a
Cure For Arthritis by Paavo Airola).
When people follow Dr. Gerson's cancer therapy the immune system becomes so strong
that organ transplants are rejected, so Dr. Gerson refuses to accept as patients anyone with
an organ transplant. This strengthening of the immune system is why juices are of value for
AIDS (see Roger's Recovery from AIDS by Bob Owen).

A virus is a protein coating covering DNA. The DNA of viruses mutates so quickly that
vaccines are a waste of time. Proteolytic (protein eating) enzymes can be an effective
defense against all viruses. The enzymes attack the protein coating, thereby inactivating the
virus.
Proteolytic enzymes in the body are depleted by the consumption of too much meat and dairy.
They body's supply of enzymes is restored by eating raw foods such as pineapple, papaya,
and fresh juices.
Bile vs. Lipid-Coated Microorganisms
Bile is a liquid produced by the liver. Bile is stored in the gallbladder until you eat a meal, and
then it flows into the small intestine where it digests fats. Bile also digests endotoxins and
lipid-coated microorganisms that are entering the body via the digestive tract. This includes
many
viruses
with
a
lipoprotein
coating.

Bile is highly alkaline. The bile thickens and its flow is reduced when it loses its alkalinity. The
bile is robbed of alkaline minerals when the remainder of the body is too acidic. Fresh juices
are a source of alkaline minerals, helping to alkalize the body and maintain a good flow of
bile.
Vaccines are often contaminated, and contaminated vaccines can cause cancer. A strong
immune system will defend you against any disease including bacteria, viruses, and fungi.
Plus, being healthy has many side benefits including a superior quality of life. Vaccinations,
inoculations and antibiotics are very limited in what they can defend you against, are
generally losing their effectiveness, often have debilitating side effects, may be contaminated,

There is a close connection between chronic inflammation due to infections, and the
development of cancer.

Potassium and Sodium
Potassium is an essential element that acts in many ways to improve cell structure, assists
the kidneys to detoxify blood and maintains the alkaline/acid ratio in the blood and body

tissues.
The ratio of potassium/sodium is now generating great interest. As early as 1920 a German
physician, Dr. Max Gerson, was claiming that many chronic illnesses could be related to an
imbalance between potassium and sodium.
We should, according to Gerson, have a potassium to sodium intake of about 4:1.
His theory was that potassium rich foods would generate and activate the white cells within
the body - these are the cells that attack and destroy cancer and other illness related cells.
Being interested by Gerson's work and conclusions, I decided to seek out other expert views.
Through my friend in Singapore, Robert Yam, I was to contact Dr. Lai Chiu-Nan, who now
resides in America, but is still highly recognized within Asia for her research and knowledge
about cancer and its treatment. Dr. Lai holds a PhD in chemistry and has written a book, 'The
Pursuit of Life'. I was fascinated with what Dr. Lai had to say about potassium and sodium:
"Let me emphasize the importance of the potassium/sodium ratio. In our research it was
found that increasing the potassium level in the growth media can revert cancer cells to
normal cells. The best potassium source in food is vegetables. The high potassium foods are
vegetables and fruits. The poor potassium sources are animal or processed food."
Dry Lai went on to say:
"For cells to perform normally, they need to concentrate potassium and expel sodium. In the
cells, potassium to sodium ratio is about 10 times. When cell membranes are damaged,
potassium is leaked and the cells start to divide. Dividing cells and cancer cells have a lower
ratio of potassium to sodium compared to normal cells. That cancer cells grow in an
uncontrolled manner is probably related to the lowered potassium-sodium ratio...
...Why am I emphasizing the ratio of potassium and sodium in food? Because it plays a role
not only in cancer but also in high blood pressure, heart disease, and diabetes."
Dry Lai also found during her research that in the U.S. the average intake of potassium over
sodium is about 0.7; less than the body constitution, which is around 2:1. Cancer, heart
disease and diabetes are common in the U.S., and can be attributed to this factor in the diet.
Chinese in general eat more rice and vegetables, and it appears their risk of getting these
diseases is less.
If you think your family regularly has a food balance of 4:1 of potassium over sodium, just
read the ingredients section on almost any packaged food (including cereals) in your pantry,
but this time don't look just for cholesterol and fat content, but examine the ratio between
potassium and sodium. The findings will shock you.
In fact, one of the world's leading brands of corn flakes boasts a ratio of 29mg potassium to
280mg sodium for every serving!

Vitamin C
Vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) is anti-viral. Most species of plants and animals use enzymes to
manufacture vitamin C from simple sugars within their own body. However, in the long course
of evolution, the gene responsible for vitamin C production became non-functional in certain
species. This is why guinea pigs, primates and humans lack the enzyme that is needed for
the last step in vitamin C production. As a consequence, for these species vitamin C is an
essential nutrient in the diet. The appropriate dose of vitamin C is "enough C to be
symptom free, whatever that amount may be." Based on observed vitamin C production in
other species, humans require about one gram of vitamin C for each 50 pounds of body
weight every day. If vitamin C has been lacking from the diet and a viral infection has taken
hold, one gram of vitamin C per hour with juice each waking hour of the day may be helpful.
However, prevention is always better than a cure, so it is simply a fact of human life that
vitamin C is a necessary part of the daily diet.
Starting in the 1940's until the early 1970's, Dr. Frederick R. Klenner used vitamin C to treat
viral infections in over 3,000 patients. He wrote 27 papers on this use of vitamin C that were
published in various medical journals. From these papers we find that Dr. Klenner found
vitamin C useful in the treatment of poliomyelitis, chicken pox, measles, mumps, scurvy,
diphtheria, hemolytic streptococcus, herpes simplex, herpes zoster, influenza, colds, viral
encephalitis, pneumonia, cold sores, canker sore, viral hepatitis, mononucleosis, diphtheria,
bacillary dysentery, pancreatitis (acute and chronic), cardiovascular disease,
hypermenorrhea, ulcers (peptic and duodenal), postoperative and radiation sickness,
rheumatic fever, scarlet fever, tularemia, whooping cough, tuberculosis, rheumatic fever,
Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, trichinosis, tetanus, urethritis, chronic cystitis, cholesterol,
arteriosclerosis, cavities, corneal ulcers, and more.
A lingering cold or flu acts to deplete vitamin C. The lack of vitamin C weakens the capillaries,
allowing the infection to spread from the blood to tissues, particularly the brain which has the
largest capillary bed in the body.

might very well never develop arthritis."

Dr. Klenner's work provided the foundation for Dr. Robert Cathcart, Dr. Mathias Rath, Dr.

Linus Pauling, and many others. Search the Internet for more information.

Vitamin D is anti-viral and anti-bacterial.

Do you ever wonder why colds and the flu come in the winter? That is when we have the
lowest level of vitamin D due to lack of sunlight. Our skin makes vitamin D when exposed to
the ultraviolet B rays of the sun. UVB light is blocked by glass. People should spend more
time outdoors in natural sunlight. Sunlight is a natural disinfectant.

has a high level of vitamin D in the blood.

Vitamin D vs. Viruses, Bacteria and Fungi


Vitamin D stimulates the body's production of antimicrobial peptides which have been shown
to attack bacteria, fungi and viruses, including the influenza virus, and which play a key role in
keeping the lungs free from infection.
Vitamin D Council recommended amounts
Based on the body's indicated daily vitamin D usage, the Vitamin D Council recommends the
following amounts of supplemental vitamin D3 per day in the absence of proper sun
exposure.
- Healthy infants - 1,000 IU/day
- Healthy children - 1,000 IU/day per every 25 lbs. of body weight.
- Healthy adults - 5,000 IU/day
Additionally, children and adults with chronic health conditions may need as much as double
these amounts.
Iodine and Potassium Iodide
Iodine is anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal.
Tincture of iodine is a disinfectant used on cuts and scrapes on the skin. The bottle generally
says "For External Use Only." This is because of other constituents of the tincture, such as
isopropyl alcohol. However, when travelling where the water is of uncertain quality we often
put a drop of iodine in our water bottle to help purify the water.
There are two types of iodine that the body requires for good health. These are elemental iodine and
potassium iodide. Japanese people get these from seafood. Lugol's iodine contains both iodine and
iodide. There is a tablet you can buy called Iodoral that contains 5 mg iodine and 7.5 mg iodide for a
total of 12.5 mg, which is about the same as what the Japanese people get daily from seafood.
Iodide is needed by the thyroid gland and skin. The breasts need iodine. Either form of iodine can be
used by the kidneys, spleen, liver, blood, salivary glands and intestines. Every organ and tissue in the
body has a requirement for iodine or iodide.
According to Dr. Mercola, "There is a large body of evidence suggesting that low cancer rates in Japan
are a result of their substantially higher iodine levels..."
An article by Dr. Sircus includes a table showing the effectiveness of iodine versus bacteria, yeasts and
molds, actinomyetes and rickettsia. These are the organisms listed in the table: proteus, staphylococcus,
pseudomonas, streptococcus, escherichia, salmonells, candida, serratia, spores - bacillus and
clostridium, trichomomonas, enterobacter, klebsiella, clostridium, shigella, corynebacterium,
diplococcus, mycobacterium, bacillus, sarcina, trichophyton, aspergillus, mima, heralla, edwardsiella,
citrobacter, providencia, acienetobacter, epidermophyton, microsporum, pencillium, nocardia.
According to Dr. Derry, "iodine has the broadest range of action, fewest side effects and no
development of bacterial resistance."

Editor's note: The thyroid needs both iodine and selenium in reasonable balance. When supplementing
with iodine it is necessary to ensure that sufficient selenium is also consumed. The best selenium
supplement seems to be 200 mcg selenomethionine or selenocysteine . Selenomethionine and
selenocysteine are the organic forms of selenium found in foods. One brazil nut contains about 100
mcg of selenium. (A brazil nut a day keeps the doctor away?)
If selenium is deficient, ensuring that there is sufficient selenium in the diet can have a
powerful beneficial effect on the immune system. In Canada and the U.S.A., the estimated
average daily intake of selenium is generally regarded as sufficient. Selenium deficient
regions include New Zealand, most of Africa, much of Europe and parts of China. Selenium
absorption is inhibited by Crohn's disease. Selenium is removed by kidney dialysis. Certain
viral diseases consume selenium (HIV-1, HIV-2, Hepatitis B and C, and Coxsackie B).
Research in China indicates that selenium supplementation in deficient populations offers a
protective effect against these viruses. Many millions of people around the world have
hepatitis. When in doubt, a few brazil nuts a day seems harmless. "The toxicity of selenium in
humans seems to have been greatly exaggerated." - Dr. Harold D. Foster. This is something
we have also noticed with other nutrients that have the potential to displace pharmaceuticals,
such as iodine and potassium.
Every cell has a resonance frequency. Knowledge of these frequencies for bacteria,
viruses, etc. can be used to generate the right frequency to kill the organism. The frequency
generator can use sound or electromagnetism (light) frequencies. This is the technology that Dr. Rife developed back in the
1930's to cure cancer and other diseases. He would biopsy the cancer cells, find their
resonance frequency in the test tube and then expose the body of the cancer patient to that
frequency. His results were excellent. His work was destroyed by the medical establishment.
(Resonance therapy is not good for chemical company sales).
There is even a certain frequency that works as an anesthetic. (Also not good for chemical
company sales).
William Campbell Douglass, M.D. highly recommends EWOT. Exercise With Oxygen Therapy
(EWOT) is doing light exercise, such as on a treadmill or stationary bicycle, while breathing
pure oxygen. EWOT produces the benefits of hydrogen peroxide therapy and you can do it at
home. Set the O2 flow at 6 liters per minute, hook the little tube to your nose, and exercise at
a moderate pace for 15 minutes while breathing pure oxygen. As part of your cancer
prevention and health maintenance program, do this at least once a month. If you are ill with
any disease, do EWOT more frequently. In particular, do EWOT after operations,
chemotherapy, radiation treatment, x-rays, and burns. EWOT should be offered by every spa,
clinic and health club in the country.
Bottled oxygen is generally a prescription item. However, you can purchase for home use an
"oxygen concentrator" such as is used in "oxygen bars".
There is an electrical potential difference of about 300,000 volts between the surface of the
earth and the lower level of the ionosphere. With the ionosphere beginning at about 80 km

above the earth's surface, this means there is a voltage potential gradient of about 4 volts per
meter. For a person two meters tall, the voltage potential gradient is nearly 8 volts between
the bottom of the feet and top of the head.
Electrons on the earth are constantly being attracted toward the sky, but the air is a poor
conductor. Electrons flow along a surface, but to leave the surface they need a point to
channel the flow. This is why tree tops, leaf tips, and the hairs on your head are pointed. They
are designed to facilitate the flow of electrons through the physiology.
This flow is healthy. Free radicals are molecules short an electron. The flow of electrons
energizes the body, neutralizes free radicals, and increases alkalinity by neutralizing H+ ions.
This is why a walk in the morning is a rasayana ("rasayana" is a Sanskrit term indicating that
something is beneficial for all people). The dew covered grass transfers an abundance of
electrons to the body through the feet. This is a reason why being surrounded by reinforced
concrete in an office tower is unhealthy. The metal bars in the reinforced concrete channel the
electron flow around the interior rather than through it.
Ideally we should always be grounded to the earth. Shoes, flooring, bedding should all allow
us to be grounded to the earth. There is a growing body of research demonstrating the health
benefits of this grounding. You can read about it in the book called Earthing: The Most
Important Health Discovery Ever by Clinton Ober, Stephen Sinatra and Martin Zucker. Watch

Vedic homes always have a kalash on top. If gilded, the decorative kalash is a conductor,
wide at the base and pointed on top. One theory is that electrons are drawn up through the
living quarters to the base of the kalash and then emitted into the sky. This may create a
constant flow of healthy electrons through the house. In many religions, we take off our shoes
in a temple so the body is grounded and the flow of electrons through us is unimpeded. Tall
towers and spires above the holy structure may increase the voltage gradient and amplify the
flow. On a mountain top this effect is greatly magnified, which may be one reason why "wise
people" are frequently depicted sitting on a mountain top. Negative ions around waterfalls and
in the air after thunderstorms also contain extra electrons, as does Alkaline Water and water
treated with Microhydrin.
Paramagnetic rock is a semiconductor. Chips of this rock in the soil aid the flow of electrons
and plants grow in this flow. Medicinal plants growing wild are more potent than cultivated
plants, partly because farm soils are losing their paramagnetism. Crushed paramagnetic rock
costs $22.50 per ton and the recommended application is one ton per acre. Rock chips are
better than rock dust because they last much longer. The dust can wash away.
In addition to being an electrical conductor, the human body is also a good antenna. Anyone
who has touched a TV antenna and found that the picture improved can readily understand
that the human body is an antenna. A tree is a good ELF and VLF antenna.
The earth itself has certain resonance frequencies called Schumann waves and all life on
earth evolved within this electromagnetic environment. The natural Extremely Low Frequency
(ELF) electromagnetic waves have the same frequencies as the human nervous system.
Paramagnetic material over a diamagnetic base creates an ELF antenna amplifier. Ancient
religious structures are found to be ELF "resonance cavities" which quiet the mind and create
a sense of peace. The ancients enhanced these frequencies in holy places, not in homes.
By giving careful consideration to the materials and design of our buildings we may have an

opportunity to use the physical structure to energize the occupants, improve the health of all
who spend time there, and help create an experience of heightened awareness and
enlightenment. (The word "enlightenment" means "filled with light". When you close your eyes
what do you see inside your head, darkness or light?)

Coconut oil is composed of 48 percent lauric acid (a 12-chain saturated fatty acid), 7 percent
capric acid (a 10-chain saturated fatty acid), 8 percent caprylic acid (an 8-chain saturated fatty
acid), and 0.5 percent caproic acid (a 6-chain saturated fatty acid). These fatty acids give
coconut oil its amazing antimicrobial properties and are generally absent from all other
vegetable and animal oils, with the exception of butter which has about 3 percent lauric acid. Bruce Fife, N.D. pages 66 - 67.
Laboratory tests have shown that the medium chain fatty acids found in coconut oil are
effective in destroying viruses that cause influenza, measles, herpes, mononucleosis,
hepatitis C, and AIDS; bacteria that can cause stomach ulcers, throat infections, pneumonia,
sinusitis, earache, rheumatic fever, dental cavities, food poisoning, urinary tract infections,
meningitis, gonorrhea, and toxic shock syndrome; fungi and yeast that lead to ringworm,
candida, and thrush; and parasites that can cause intestinal infections such as giardiasis. Bruce Fife, N.D. page 70.
The Top Four Cancer-Promoting Foods
Dr. Horner brings up an excellent point, and that is that in order to be effective, you must
first STOP doing that which is promoting cancer growth (or poor health in general), and
then all the other preventive strategies have the chance to really have an impact. Addressing
your diet should be at the top of your list, and rather than adding certain foods, you'll want
to eliminate the most dangerous culprits first.
Naturally, processed foods and soft drinks do not belong in a cancer-preventive diet...
Dr. Horner, believes red meat from animals reared in confined animal feeding operations
(CAFO's) is also a MAJOR contributor to cancer. These animals are given antibiotics,
growth hormones and other veterinary drugs that get stored in their tissues. Additionally,
cooking the meat over high heat creates heterocyclic amines, which further add to its
carcinogenic effect.
While I do recommend eating meat, I agree that there is absolutely NO benefit to eating
CAFO beef. The ONLY type of meat I recommend is organically-raised, grass-fed meats.
It's hard for a lot of people to grasp the difference between CAFO and organic meat, but
truly, they are like two different species in terms of their nutritional content. One is health
harming while the other is beneficial.
So when we're talking about the detrimental impact of red meat on your health, especially
in terms of feeding cancer, please understand that we're talking specifically about CAFO

beef, aka "factory farmed" meat. Next on the list of cancer-promoters is sugar (this includes
ALL forms of sugar, including fructose and grains).
"To me, sugar has no redeeming value at all, because they found that the more
we consume it, the more we're fuelling every single chronic disease," Dr. Horner
says. "In fact, there was a study done about a year ago and the conclusion
was that sugar is a universal mechanism for chronic disease. It kicks up
inflammation. It kicks up oxygen free radicals. Those are the two main
processes we see that underlie any single chronic disorder, including cancers. It
fuels the growth of breast cancers, because glucose is cancer's favorite food.
The more you consume, the faster it grows."
Next is the type of fats that you consume. It's important to remember that every cell
membrane is made out of fat, as is your brain. According to Dr. Horner, bad-fats in the diet
are a major contributor to ill health and cancer. On the list of fats to eliminate are:
Animal fats from CAFO-raised animals
Trans fats
Partially hydrogenated or hydrogenated fats
Healthy fats of particular importance for cancer prevention are omega-3 and omega-9.
According to Dr. Horner, omega-3 in particular serve to effectively slow down tumor
growth in estrogen-sensitive cancers such as breast-, prostate- and colon cancers. Fourth on
the list of cancer promoters is ANY item that contains xenoestrogens (chemicals that mimic
estrogen). This can become a rather long list once you start including any food
contaminated with such estrogen-mimicking chemicals, such as BPA, found in the linings
of canned goods and in plastics. The list gets truly unwieldy when you include personal
care products that contain such chemicals as well

Vitamin DThere's overwhelming evidence pointing to the fact that vitamin D deficiency plays a
crucial role in cancer development. As mentioned earlier, you can decrease your risk of cancer by
MORE THAN HALF simply by optimizing your vitamin D levels with sun exposure. And if you are
being treated for cancer it is likely that higher blood levelsprobably around 80-90 ng/mlwould be
beneficial. The health benefits of optimizing your levels, either by safe sun exposure (ideally), a safe
tanning bed, or oral supplementation as a last resort, simply cannot be overstated. In terms of protecting
against cancer, vitamin D has been found to offer protection in a number of ways, including:
Regulating genetic expression
Increasing the self-destruction of mutated cells (which, if allowed to replicate, could lead to
cancer)
Reducing the spread and reproduction of cancer cells
Causing cells to become differentiated (cancer cells often lack differentiation)
Reducing the growth of new blood vessels from pre-existing ones, which is a step in the
transition of dormant tumors turning cancerous

Normal Metabolism vs. Cancer Metabolism


"The fuel on which the body's cells run is called adenosine triphosphate (ATP). ATP must be
created by all cells, including cancer cells, for energy. The biochemical process in which ATP
is created is called oxidation phosphorylation and is oxygen-dependent. Healthy cells require
the conditions of alkalinity and high molecular oxygen (O 2) to produce ATP and function
properly. In contrast, non-oxygen-respiratory organisms - like cancer cells - make ATP by
fermentation phosphorylation, which requires the conditions of acidity and low oxygen to
function, and actually produces additional acids." - Philpott, page 75.
Cellular Respiration
The human body's main fuel is a simple sugar called glucose. Glucose comes from the plants
we eat. Through photosynthesis, plants use light energy to produce glucose and oxygen
from carbon dioxide and water.
Carbon dioxide + water + energy -- glucose + oxygen
6CO2 + 6H2O + energy -- C6H12O6 + 6O2
Plants then use the glucose to create cellulose and complex carbohydrates. When we eat the
plants, the complex carbohydrates are broken down by our digestive system into glucose.
Then this food energy is converted to chemical energy by a series of reactions known as
cellular respiration. Aerobic respiration uses oxygen.
Glucose + oxygen -- carbon dioxide + water + energy
This reaction occurs in mitochondria in cells. Aerobic respiration extracts the maximum
amount of energy from glucose, because the molecule is completely broken down.
When the supply of oxygen is insufficient, there is a back-up system known as anaerobic
respiration, that can release energy without oxygen.
Glucose -- lactic acid + energy
This reaction occurs in the cytoplasm of the cell. It does not put any extra pressure on the
respiratory or circulatory systems, because it does not produce carbon dioxide. Cancer cells
have either wholly or partially switched to anaerobic respiration. Enzymatic
decomposition of glucose in the absence of oxygen is also known as "fermentation", though
in humans the end result is the production of lactic acid, not alcohol, because we lack the
enzymes to produce alcohol.
Glucose -- ethanol + CO2 + energy (plants and fungi only)
"The ideal task of cancer therapy is to restore the function of the oxidizing systems in the
entire organism." - Dr. Max Gerson, page 7.
The energy derived from glucose is carried around the cell in the form of a chemical called
adenosine triphosphate (ATP). Aerobic cellular respiration creates as many as 36 ATP
molecules from each glucose molecule, and anaerobic respiration creates only 2 ATP
molecules. Anaerobic respiration releases only a small fraction of the available energy.
Cancer cells must feel very tired!
So what causes cancer? The process starts when insufficient ATP is being made by the
mitochondria. This could be the result of a lack of oxygen, lack of mitochondria, damaged
mitochondria, or other reason. Faced with insufficient energy, the cell will begin to produce

ATP through the anaerobic fermentation of glucose. In the early days if the mitochondria start
making enough ATP it is possible for the cell to switch back to aerobic metabolism. However,
if the cell divides while still fermenting glucose, then the daughter cells will now be irreversibly
anaerobic. These daughter cells are acidic which further damages their mitochondria. The
entire cell adapts to this new situation just to survive. Even though these cells are cancerous,
they are benign.
How does cancer become malignant? The unhealthy part of the body naturally becomes
inflamed. Inflammation attracts healing (immortal) stem cells from the bone marrow. These
stem cells depend on cues from the environment to guide their differentiation and
development. In the anaerobic cancer-causing environment, what follows is "a downward
spiral of metaplasia (the conversion of normal to abnormal tissue); dysplasia (emergence of a
precancerous growth); and finally carcinoma (frankly malignant cancer, capable of
metastasizing)." Only a tiny minority of the cells in a tumor are capable of starting a new
tumor. These tumor-inducing cells are the bone marrow stem cells.
Extract of the herb feverfew kills malignant stem cells. You can grow feverfew in your
garden. Extract of feverfew is available on the Internet. Pancreatic enzymes (Dr. Beard) and
vitamin B17 (Dr. Krebs) should be effective. See 1, 2, 3, 4 The entire 8 step program for
cancer is needed to deal with all aspects of this situation.
Athletes are very familiar with anaerobic metabolism. When the aerobic capacity of muscles is
exceeded, then it is supplemented by anaerobic metabolism. Lactic acid produced by
anaerobic metabolism builds up in the muscles and causes soreness. During rest after a
workout the body washes away lactic acid, the metabolism slows and the anaerobic
metabolism ceases. In time, the body responds by strengthening the muscles and increasing
the number of mitochondria in the cells.
However, when ill health in the form of poor circulation and damaged mitochondria causes
anaerobic metabolism to commence, the anaerobic metabolism is likely to continue for a long
time, even indefinitely. The buildup of acid in the anaerobic tissues may even accelerate the
loss of health and the further decline of aerobic metabolism. The fermentation of glucose in
cells can give rise to many ill health conditions up to and including infections and cancer.
Cancer does not originate in cellular DNA. Proof of this comes when you swap the nucleus of
a healthy cell with a cancer cell. The cancer cell with a healthy nucleus remains cancerous.
The healthy cell with a cancer cell nucleus remains healthy. (See Dr. Thomas Seyfried, pages
3-4) However, the acid environment inside a cancer cell will result in DNA damage.
Cancer cells eat only glucose. Healthy cells can also eat fat. A diet containing abundant fat
and minimal glucose/sugar/carbohydrates will starve cancer cells. Fat and water do not mix.
Fat is combined with protein in the liver to form "ketone bodies" that are water soluble so the
blood can carry the fat to the cells. A diet high in fat and low in glucose/sugar/carbohydrates is
called a "ketogenic diet" because it creates ketone bodies. A ketogenic diet generally has
fewer calories than a diet based on carbohydrates. Calorie restriction is both antiinflammatory and anti-angiogenic. Search the Internet and youtube.com for more information.
"The transition from glucose to ketone bodies as an energy source is an ancestrally
conserved adaptation to food deprivation that permits the survival of normal cells during
extreme shifts in nutritional environment. Only those cells with a flexible genome, honed
through millions of years of environmental forcing and variability selection, can transition from
one energy state to another. " - Thomas Seyfried, Ph.D.

A nutrient called Dimethylglycine (DMG) improves oxygen utilization within cells and thereby
reduces lactic acid formation. Supplementing the diet with DMG together with B vitamin
supplementation (folic acid, vitamin B6, and vitamin B12) yields many health benefits
including cancer prevention, inhibition of cancer metastases, improved heart health,
increased energy, improved oxygenation of the tissues, and improved mental functioning.
DMG is very economical and we recommend it for everyone.

Nutritional Support For Cellular Respiration
If you search the Internet for cellular respiration you will learn about glycolysis, the Krebs
cycle (also known as the citric acid cycle) and the electron transport chain. Basically what
happens is that a molecule of glucose is split in half (glycolysis), and then processed by the
Krebs cycle, in preparation for the production of ATP in the electron transport chain of the
mitochondria. Nutritional support for this process can take the form of nutrients, coenzymes
and
antioxidants.
There is a nutritional supplement called "Enzymatic Therapy Krebs Cycle Chelates" that
contains many of the nutrients required. This supplement contains 14 minerals (calcium, iron,
iodine, magnesium, zinc, selenium, copper, manganese, chromium, molybdenum, sodium,
potassium, boron and vanadium) chelated with citrate, fumerate, malate, succinate, and alpha
ketoglutarate.
Also helpful are all the B vitamins (including B12), DMG (Dimethylglycine), Omega 3 essential
fatty acids, L-carnitine, coenzyme Q10 (ubiquinol), alpha lipoic acid, vitamin C, vitamin E and

Causes of Cellular Damage
There are many things that can damage a cell and its mitochondria. These include oxygen
deprivation, nutritional imbalances, physical trauma, toxic chemicals, allergic reactions,
radiation, infections, parasites, and more. Lack of essential fatty acids directly damages cell
membranes because cell membranes are made of these lipids. When the essential fatty acids
are missing from the diet, cells have no choice but to substitute inappropriate fats into their
structure, resulting in type II diabetes and perhaps cancer. If the cellular damage involves
mitochondria, thereby interfering with production of ATP, then this can cause significant
damage to the cell because ATP is needed for important cellular processes such as
membrane transport, lipogenesis and protein synthesis. With damaged mitochondria, for its
very survival the cell has no choice but to revert to the more primitive system of anaerobic
respiration that is characteristic of cancer cells. Sometimes the damage is reversible, in which
case the cell can be healed. Sometimes the damage is irreversible, and a way must be found
to destroy the cell. Also, the causes of harm to the cells must be removed to prevent repeated
damage or damage to additional cells. For more information, do an Internet search for

The Benefit of Intermittent Fasting

to reduce the risk of Alzheimer's disease and cardiovascular disease. This is all linked to the
same basic general phenomenon that too much glucose in the bloodstream is not healthy. It
leads to inflammation. It leads to cardiovascular disease, which is linked to triglyceride
accumulation. It's linked to a lot of things. It's also linked to dysfunctional mitochondria, which

(Intermittent fasting is eating every other day. On the eating day, most people will not eat two
days worth of food, so over two or more days of intermittent fasting the total food consumption
will be reduced.)

Nutrients for Healthy Mitochondria
Oxygen is necessary for cellular respiration and energy production, but it must be carefully
handled within the cell or the mitochondria will be damaged. Five nutrients necessary to
restore and maintain healthy mitochondria are:
L-carnitine - for the proper oxidation of fats within cells
Coenzyme Q10 - is necessary for the synthesis of ATP, and prevents free radical
damage within the cell
Alpha lipoic acid - helps regenerate vitamins E and C after they are oxidized
Vitamin E - protects cell membranes from free radical damage. Try to get nonsynthetic vitamin E with mixed tocopherols and tocotrienols.
Vitamin C - inhibits the oxidation of cholesterol and supports production of the
antioxidant glutathione.
These nutrients should be available in your local health food store. Heart specialist Dr.
Stephen Sinatra frequently writes about these nutrients in his newsletter. His website is
www.DrSinatra.com.
Dr. Sinatra also recommends Earthing and considers Earthing to be the original antiinflammatory and anti-oxidant. By regularly grounding the body to the earth, the body is
provided with a lifetime supply of free electrons that neutralize free radicals.
Dr. Sircus recommends far infrared light for its ability to penetrate the body and stimulate
oxygen consumption by the mitochondria. Dr. Sircus cites research indicating that
mitochondrial dysfunction is a factor in many disease conditions.

L-carnitine is made in the body from the amino acid lysine. Lysine is destroyed by heat, so
you will only get it from raw foods. Cold-processed whey powder is a good source of amino
acids. Coenzyme Q10 is found in sardines, eggs, whole grains, spinach and many other
foods. If you take coenzyme Q10 supplements, look for ubiquinol which is better than
ubiquinone. Food sources of Alpha lipoic acid include spinach, broccoli, tomatoes, peas,
Brussels sprouts, and rice bran. Vitamin E is found in whole grains, nuts, seeds, asparagus,
spinach and other green leafy vegetables. Vitamin C is found in fruits, berries, and tomatoes.
Many drugs deplete coenzyme Q10.

Vitamin C is needed for the synthesis of carnitine, which is required for long-chain fatty acids
to enter mitochondria where they are used for energy production. - Annals of Internal
Medicine 114:909-910, 1991. Most cancer patients are deficient in vitamin C. Without vitamin
C supplementation, nearly every human will experience sub-clinical scurvy.
The conversion of vitamin C into carnitine takes place in the liver. If you have cancer, your
liver is probably not functioning properly. Charlotte Gerson claims that people do not get
cancer until liver function has been reduced to about one third. There are things you can do to
restore liver health.

Cellular Metabolism is Controlled by Thyroid Hormones
The rate of cellular metabolism and energy production is regulated by thyroid hormones.
These hormones are deficient in many people because their body has insufficient iodine to
produce them. The result is fatigue, depression, overweight, dry skin, cold hands or feet, hair
loss, brittle nails, puffy eyes, constipation, brain damage and a lower IQ. There is a simple
way to correct iodine deficiency that you can read about here.
However, even if you have enough iodine, you may still have insufficient thyroid hormones
due to the presence of iodine blockers in your diet. Chlorine and fluoride are iodine blockers
commonly added to municipal drinking water. Bromide is an iodine blocker used to bleach
white flour for bread. These chemicals compete with the uptake of iodine and slow the
production of essential thyroid hormones. Certain foods have the same effect, such as soy
products that can interfere with the absorption and assimilation of iodine. For healthy cellular
metabolism, you need a healthy thyroid gland producing abundant thyroid hormones.

Oxygen vs. Cancer
Hydrogen peroxide is water with extra oxygen attached. The formula for water is H 2O, and for
hydrogen peroxide is H2O2.

Lack of oxygen and high levels of acidity go together. One reason for this: "In the electron

form water. However, when there is an oxygen deficiency, the loss of electrons can result in
the accumulation of positive hydrogen ions, which lead to blood acidification." - Sandra

People with various degenerative diseases are sometimes found to have low venous oxygen
saturation. With proper care, the venous oxygen saturation level rises and their health &
vitality improve dramatically.
Arterial oxygen saturation should be very high. "High O 2 tensions were lethal to cancer
tissue, 95% being very toxic, whereas in general, normal tissue were not harmed by high
oxygen tensions. Indeed, some tissues were found to require high O 2 tensions...", J.B. Kizer,
quoted in McCabe, page 82. Inexpensive finger "Oximeter" devices to measure your blood
oxygen level are available on the Internet. "Healthy individuals have a blood oxygen level of
between 98 and 100 as measured by a pulse oximeter, but cancer patients routinely show
only 60."
Daily Humming is Good For You
During humming, the gas exchange between the nasal passages and the sinuses is 98
percent, almost a complete exchange. During normal exhalation, without humming, the gas
exchange
rate
is
only
4
percent.
Poor gas exchange and poor circulation in the sinus cavities create a good environment for
bacterial growth. Researchers suggest that daily humming could help reduce the incidence of
sinusitis and upper respiratory infections.
Also, sinuses are major producers of nitric oxide, which helps dilate capillaries and increase
blood flow. When nitric oxide levels are measured during humming, researchers find that they
are 15 times higher than during normal breathing.
Increasing the oxygen saturation of the blood and tissues can be approached from a number
of different directions simultaneously:
1. Fresh air. Increase the amount of oxygen in the air you breathe by allowing fresh air into
every room of your home, office and transportation. Open the windows. Install a Heat
Recovery Ventilation System (HRVS) or Energy Recovery Ventilation System. By connecting
the HRVS into your furnace ducts, you can provide temperature moderated fresh air to the
entire home economically in every season.

2. Breathe slowly and deeply. Improper breathing causes oxygen deficiency. Use the full
capacity of your lungs by expanding both the chest and abdomen. Practice deep breathing for
a few minutes every day. Learn Pranayama (comfortable breathing exercise) and practice for
a few minutes before meditating. There are devices to train and strengthen your breathing
muscles 1, 2. If you choose Frolov's Respiration Training Device and purchase it here, they
will include a free copy of Frolov's book. Frolov reportedly used his device to cure himself of
colon cancer. See Frolov's device on youtube.com. In our opinion, pranayama will also
strengthen the breathing muscles and should be as effective as the mechanical devices
providing it is practiced for a similar length of time.
3. Aerobic exercise increases the capacity of the heart to pump blood and increases the
capacity of the lungs.
4. Eat smaller nutrient-dense meals (no empty-calorie junk food). Overeating causes
oxygen deficiency. Do you feel tired after a big meal? Vitamin F (Omega-3 essential fatty acid)
increases the oxygen carrying capacity of hemoglobin (red blood cells), and restores cell
membranes to proper functioning. Eat fresh foods and avoid decomposing (rotten) foods. Eat
an alkaline diet and create an alkaline condition in the body.
5. Follow Dr. Dean Ornish's 4 step program to clean out your arteries (low fat vegetarian diet,
exercise, non-smoking, meditation). Clean arteries will maximize the amount of oxygen-rich
blood reaching the tissues. See our Healthy Heart page. Daily exercise is essential to move
the lymph, which carries nutrients to your cells and waste products away. Acidic waste
products will build up in your tissues in the absense of regular exercise. When these acids
crystalize and the sharp crystals start chewing up your muscles, tendons and joints you will
become increasingly stiff and sore as time goes by.
6. Antioxidants help the body use oxygen more efficiently. Antioxidants include MAK, Raja's
Cup coffee substitute, Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) which is found in the greenest plants, coenzyme Q10, organic germanium (a trace mineral), thioctic acid, taheebo/pau d'arco, vitamin
C, natural source vitamin E, vitamin A, retin-A (a form of vitamin A), ginseng. Wheat germ is a
good source of vitamin E. Oxy-Powder contains organic germanium as one of its ingredients.
Earthing.
7. Avoid carbon monoxide (vehicle exhaust, fumes from gas stoves & heaters) that reduces
the oxygen carrying capacity of the blood. Fluoride also interferes with oxygen uptake
(Donsbach, page 30). Alcohol and drugs rob the body of oxygen because the body must
oxidize these substances during the process of their removal (McCabe, pages 86-87).
8. Consume supplementary oxygen from other sources such as oxygenated/ozonated
drinking water, fresh foods and juices, magnesium oxide, magnesium dioxide, magnesium
peroxide, magnesium hydroxide ("milk of magnesia"). "We also know that when H2O2 is
taken into the body (orally or intravenously) the oxygen content of the blood and body tissues
increases dramatically." - Dr. David Williams.
9. Bathe in oxygenated water. Add one pint to one quart of 3% hydrogen peroxide to your
bath water and soak in it. Be sure your bath water is free of chlorine (chlorine causes cancer).
You can remove the chlorine by putting a filter on the shower head and fill the tub via the
shower. Pet stores sell a product to remove chlorine and chloramine from water. KDF shower
filters do not remove chloramine, so phone your municipal water supplier to find out if they
use chlorine or chloramine. Do a youtube search for "kdf chloramine".
10. Practice EWOT therapy. Exercise With Oxygen Therapy (EWOT) is doing light exercise,

such as on a treadmill or stationary bicycle, while breathing pure oxygen. EWOT produces the
benefits of intravenous hydrogen peroxide therapy and you can do it at home. Set the O 2 flow
at 6 liters per minute, hook the little tube to your nose, and exercise at a moderate pace for 15
minutes while breathing pure oxygen. As part of your cancer prevention and health
maintenance program, you can do this once a month. If you are ill with any disease, do
EWOT more frequently. In particular, do EWOT after operations, chemotherapy, radiation
treatment, x-rays, and burns. - Dr. William Campbell Douglass.
Bottled oxygen is generally a prescription item. However, you can purchase for home use an
"oxygen concentrator" such as is used in "oxygen bars".
11. Practice hyperthermia. Hyperthermia increases circulation and removes toxins from the
body via excessive sweating. One way carcinogens cause cancer is by attaching to cell
membranes, thereby suffocating the cell even when adequate oxygen is otherwise available.
12. Intravenous hydrogen peroxide is inexpensive, safe and easy for a physician to
administer (Altman, page 2). Also, with the help of a physician, you might try UBI (ultraviolet
blood irradiation) therapy, which can produce a 50% increase in venous oxygenation within
10 minutes. This oxygenation is in the blood plasma, as there is no change in the number of

Using Diluted 35% Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide Internally
Mix a few drops of 35% H2O2 into a glass of water. Take on an empty stomach (the oxygen
will react with the food in the stomach), one hour before a meal or at least 3 hours after a
meal.
Start with one drop of hydrogen peroxide 3 times per day. On the second day, increase to two
drops 3 times per day. On the third day, increase to three drops three times per day. Increase
in this manner each day until you reach 25 drops 3 times per day or the limit of your comfort.
If your stomach gets upset at any level, go back one level. Hydrogen peroxide has an
obnoxious taste and few people reach 25 drops.
When free of your health complaints, taper off by reducing your daily dosage. A good
maintenance dose is a total of 1 - 2 drops per day.

Using Magnesium Peroxide Internally
For oral ingestion, however, I now believe the product of choice to be magnesium peroxide,
and it may have even more to offer. The oxygen content is more stable than that in hydrogen

market. Some are simply peroxide that has been flavored and mixed with sea minerals, aloe

simple hydrogen peroxide (Aerox, Anti-Oxid-10, Di-Oxychloride, Aerobic 07, Aqua Pure, etc.).
Basically you'll end up paying a small fortune and at best achieving the same results you can

3% H2O2 can be used full strength as a foot bath for athlete's foot. Diabetics have found
relief from circulation problems by soaking their feet in 1 pint of 3% peroxide mixed with 1

Hydrogen peroxide has been used in the treatment of heart and blood vessel diseases
(including arrhythmias, stoppage, heart disease, stroke and memory loss, angina, gangrene,
inflammation, vascular and cluster headaches), pulmonary diseases (asthma, bronchitis,

The 3% hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) available in grocery stores and drug stores contains
stabilizers (such as phenol, acetanilide, sodium stanate and Tetrasodium phosphate). This
hydrogen peroxide is for external use only, not for internal consumption. It is OK for brushing
the teeth, gargling and as a mouth wash, providing you rinse your mouth after.
The 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide is for internal consumption and can be diluted for
intravenous application.
Other grades of hydrogen peroxide include 6% used by beauticians and contains bleach, 3032% electronic grade used for washing electronic parts, 35% technical grade which contains
a small amount of phosphorous, and 90% used as a source of oxygen in rocket fuel.
Hydrogen Peroxide and Ozone in Nature
The earth's atmosphere is surrounded by the "ozone layer". Ozone (O 3) is created when
radiation from outer space interacts with oxygen in the atmosphere.
O3 is heavier than O2 and tends to fall toward the earth. As it enters lower levels of the
atmosphere it encounters water vapor and forms hydrogen peroxide (H 2O2). Rain water
contains a small percentage of hydrogen peroxide and this acts as a natural disinfectant in
rivers and lakes. All living things are adapted to take in a small quantity of hydrogen peroxide
in their diet, and even produce hydrogen peroxide as part of their immune functioning.
However, it requires energy for the body to create hydrogen peroxide and so a sick person
may be deficient. Liquid crystal water is H3O2.
Hydrogen peroxide in water is very stable and as the rain water flows into the ocean the
hydrogen peroxide ends up in the ocean. As water evaporates, hydrogen peroxide evaporates
and will survive steam distillation. In this manner, hydrogen peroxide travels around the
natural hydrological cycle, acting as a natural disinfectant in the ecosphere. However, with
increased pollution, the levels of oxygen and hydrogen peroxide in the air and rainwater are

decreasing.
Fermentation and Cancer
The ideal task of cancer therapy is to restore the function of the oxidizing systems in the
entire organism. This, of course, is difficult to accomplish. It involves the following: 1)
detoxification of the whole body, 2) providing the essential mineral contents of the potassium
group, 3) adding oxidizing enzymes continuously as long as they are not reactivated and built
in the body...This will create a near normal condition of the oxidizing system in the body, to
which malignant cells with the fermentation system cannot adapt. - Dr. Max Gerson, page 7.

Gaston Naessens invented an incredible microscope that allows living tissue to be seen at
much higher levels of magnification (30,000X, compared to 1,800X with a classical
microscope). His microscope uses light with a very short wavelength to illuminate the object,
and then this light is converted to frequencies visible to the human eye.
Hidden within the blood plasma he found tiny bodies he named "somatids". These somatids
are observed to change from one form to another in a regular cycle. In a healthy person the
somatids have a three stage cycle. In an unhealthy person the somatids have a 16 stage
cycle.
The critical impetus between stages three and four that starts the unhealthy cycle is
fermentation. This fermentation is the result of sub-cellular trauma that can be produced in
many ways including exposure to chemical pollution, radiation, accidents, shocks, depressed
psychological states, etc.
The 13 unhealthy somatid stages include forms identical to bacteria, yeast (fungus), and
fibrous material (scar tissue). Therefore, bacteria can come from the outside or be internally
generated and are not necessarily the cause of disease. Rather the bacteria are the result of
disease, and the disease actually exists on a more subtle level, on the level of the somatids
and the biological imbalance that permits the unhealthy forms of somatids to thrive.
By studying the blood of healthy people and people with various diseases, Naessens found
that he could predict diseases the healthy people were going to get based on the condition of
their somatids.
In traumatized animals, the somatids become highly active and begin to destroy the bodies of
their hosts.

Gaston Naessens invented an incredible microscope that allows living tissue to be seen at
much higher levels of magnification (30,000X, compared to 1,800X with a classical
microscope). His microscope uses light with a very short wavelength to illuminate the object,
and then this light is converted to frequencies visible to the human eye.
Hidden within the blood plasma he found tiny bodies he named "somatids". These somatids
are observed to change from one form to another in a regular cycle. In a healthy person the
somatids have a three stage cycle. In an unhealthy person the somatids have a 16 stage
cycle.
The critical impetus between stages three and four that starts the unhealthy cycle is
fermentation. This fermentation is the result of sub-cellular trauma that can be produced in
many ways including exposure to chemical pollution, radiation, accidents, shocks, depressed
psychological states, etc.
The 13 unhealthy somatid stages include forms identical to bacteria, yeast (fungus), and
fibrous material (scar tissue). Therefore, bacteria can come from the outside or be internally
generated and are not necessarily the cause of disease. Rather the bacteria are the result of
disease, and the disease actually exists on a more subtle level, on the level of the somatids
and the biological imbalance that permits the unhealthy forms of somatids to thrive.
By studying the blood of healthy people and people with various diseases, Naessens found
that he could predict diseases the healthy people were going to get based on the condition of
their somatids.
In traumatized animals, the somatids become highly active and begin to destroy the bodies of
their hosts.

A connection between under active thyroid (hypothyroidism) and cancer is that the lymph fluid
becomes "thicker" and other tissues also thicken. This makes it more difficult for the fluid to
flow, resulting in cellular oxygen starvation, nutrient starvation, buildup of acidic waste
products, and edema (swelling). Some doctors suggest that increased viscosity of the lymph
due to hypothyroidism is a factor in all chronic illness. For example, see Solved: The Riddle of

Alkalinity and Aging

"Deficiency of K-base [potassium] in the diet increases the net systemic acid load imposed by
the diet. We know that clinically-recognized chronic metabolic acidosis has deleterious effects
on the body, including growth retardation in children, decreased muscle and bone mass in
adults, and kidney stone formation, and that correction of acidosis can ameliorate those
conditions. Is it possible that a lifetime of eating diets that deliver evolutionarily superphysiologic
loads of acid to the body contribute to the decrease in bone and muscle mass, and growth
hormone secretion, which occur normally with age? That is, are contemporary humans suffering
from the consequences of chronic, diet induced low-grade systemic metabolic acidosis?

Our group has shown that contemporary net acid-producing diets do indeed characteristically
produce a low-grade systemic metabolic acidosis in otherwise healthy adult subjects, and that
the degree of acidosis increases with age, in relation to the normally occurring age-related
decline in renal functional capacity. We also found that neutralization of the diet net acid load
with dietary supplements of potassium bicarbonate (KHCO3) improved calcium and phosphorus
balances, reduced bone resorption rates, improved nitrogen balance, and mitigated the normally
occurring age-related decline in growth hormone secretion - all without restricting dietary NaCl.
Moreover, we found that coadministration of an alkalinizing salt of potassium (potassium citrate)
with NaCl prevented NaCl from increasing urinary calcium excretion and bone resorption, as

In Hunza, the drinking and irrigation water for farming flows from the melting glacial ice sheets.
Clouded by the mineral rich glacial silt, it is revered as the "milk of the mountains" (38). On the
average, a Hunzakut will drink 4 liters a day. A missionary chemist who was there some years
ago analyzed this glacial water for cesium and found it to be abundant. The diet of the
Hunzakuts appears to be rich in the minerals and transport enhancement nitriles which would be

There are five isolated areas in the world where people live to a great age. Dr. Henri Coanda
concluded after studying them that the only factor they shared in common was the quality of
their drinking water. This water has an abundance of alkaline minerals, a negative
electrical charge (so it acts as an anti-oxidant), and a small cluster size which helps it to
penetrate body tissues to rehydrate the body and transport nutrients.

Human Growth Hormone


The hormone called Human Growth Hormone (HGH) is associated with a youthful physiology,
including reduced body fat, increased lean muscle mass, thicker and more youthful looking
skin, improved energy and sex drive. Experiments with increasing the level of HGH in the
body produced many damaging results. Recent research indicates that the body's production
of HGH does not decline with age. Rather, it is our ability to utilize HGH efficiently that is

- Eat more vegetables, fruits, legumes, nuts and seeds. Eat less animal products - meat and
milk.
- Increase your dietary potassium relative to sodium. Processed foods almost always have
more sodium than potassium (read the labels), so avoid them. Eat a diet of fresh whole foods.

Chronic inflammation can cause cancer. In fact, it may be the ONLY cause of cancer, with all
the other factors involved with cancer simply contributing to chronic inflammation.

Inflammation is the body's response to injury or infection. Inflammation results in the destruction
of badly damaged cells and the healing of less damaged cells. As we age and health declines,
the body responds with a chronic low level of inflammation. Aging is a kind of autoimmune
disease. As time passes and health continues to decline, the immune system has to fight harder
and harder until finally our internal resources are exhausted and we die. Scientists now speak of
"inflammaging".

The fact that our immune system reacts to the "normal" effects of aging as if they were injuries
is a clue that age-related degeneration is, in fact, not normal.

A biological marker of inflammation is called "C-reactive protein" (CRP). CRP is elevated by

injuries, infections, inflammatory diseases (with names ending in "itis"), and cancer. To keep
your CRP down you need to minimize the amount of inflammation in your body. The normal
level of CRP in the blood of healthy people is below 1 mg/L. When inflammation is present, CRP
can increase to 200 mg/L or more. Your CRP level can be used to measure your response to
treatment. The above list of anti-inflammatories and pro-inflammatories should help you reduce
inflammation in your body and lower your CRP level. You will also need to deal with any health
problems that may exist in your body.

Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs)

Within the body, an advanced glycation end product is the result of an unhealthy chemical reaction
between sugar and protein or lipids in the absence of enzymes. AGEs can affect nearly every type of
molecule and cell in the body. AGEs cause "cross-linking", which is a scientific way of saying that they
gum things up. AGEs are proinflammatory and associated with various inflammatory diseases. AGEs
cause the production of free radicals, which in turn create more damage. High blood glucose promotes
the formation of AGEs. Fructose in the blood produces ten times more AGEs compared to glucose.

The formation and accumulation of AGEs contribute to the creation of plaques in the body. AGEs are
associated with Alzheimer's Disease, arthritis, asthma, atherosclerosis, cardiovascular disease, cataracts
in the eyes, diabetes mellitus, kidney damage, myocardial infarction, nephropathy, neuropathy,
periodontitis, reduced muscle function, retinopathy, and stroke. The cross-links created by AGEs cause
problems in both microcirculation and macrocirculation. Cross-linking reduces flexibility and increases
stiffness throughout the body. The AGEs and free radicals contribute to the general decline in health
associated with "aging".

AGEs are also absorbed into the body from food and cause AGE-related tissue injury. When food is
exposed to heat during cooking, it is the formation of AGEs that cause the cooked food to turn brown.
The browning is associated with denaturation and cross-linking of proteins, particularly lysine and
arginine. Higher cooking temperatures and longer cooking times cause increased formation of AGEs.
Dietary AGE restriction reduces serum AGE levels.

Healthy kidneys will excrete AGEs in the urine. However, when kidneys become damaged by AGEs then
the kidneys become less able to excrete AGEs and a vicious circle ensues, with more AGEs in the blood
causing increasing damage to the kidneys.

Nutrients that may help prevent damage caused by AGEs include enzymes, vitamin C, benfotiamine,
alpha-lipoic acid, carnosine, and resveratrol. Raw foods offer enzymes, plus they do not contain the
AGEs created by cooking. We suggest that at least half of what you eat should be raw. Plus, stop eating
sugar.

Transcendental Meditation (TM)


The practice of Transcendental Meditation as taught by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi has been

Question: Can this state of suspension be prolonged indefinitely and if so, what is the effect on the brain cells?
Maharishi: Yes, it can be prolonged indefinitely. If it is held for a very long time, the body will become alkaline. Because, not to decay is the quality of alkaline
body. And as long as the individual mind gets to that universal consciousness, the body has to be intact.. In order that it remains intact, it becomes alkaline.
If the body is acidic, more of acid in the system, then the oxygen going in becomes carbon dioxide. If the body is acidic, more carbon dioxide is produced. To throw it
out, the exhalations become deeper, heavier. When the exhalations become heavier, inhalations become correspondingly heavier also. So the breath grows heavy
when the system is acidic.
Opposite to this, when the acidity becomes less then the breath becomes slow. That is why during meditation the breath becomes slow, the body becomes less acidic,
more alkaline.
This is the reason why the body lasts longer for those who meditate, long life. With meditation the blood chemistry changes, becomes less acidic, more alkaline...

Man is very lucky. We have a very long life span for a mammal. In the Bible it says seventy
years in one place and 120 in another. I wrote a whole book on this once, but to summarize. If
you drift, eat as the masses eat, do not exercise and have a bad attitude, your chances of
making it to seventy are not that bad. This is sort of a given age. The systems most prone to
break down and cause death, will keep going until this age most of the time. If a person is
unlucky, has a genetic weakness, smokes or does other things this can be shortened. On the
other hand if you do it all right. If you are born into a strict living foods vegan household,
exercise, do yoga and think right all your life, at age 120 you should be in the same physical
shape as those born at the same time who do not care for their health, were at seventy. The
difference is not only that your potential life span is fifty years longer. You will very likely have
had a much better quality of life. As I said earlier, I had a (heart) valve that was making my life
much less enjoyable six years ago. I could not run. Playing with my kids was difficult. The
defect in my heart affected the quality of my life. This is also very true of smokers, overweight
people, etc. They all have a lower quality of life as well as quantity. If you live perfectly, your life
is not just longer, it is longer and better. A 100-year-old that can climb mountains, and is lucid
and contributing to life has a better life than a 50-year-old with emphysema and oxygen
starvation to the brain. Living well is not just a matter of living longer it is living better. Part of
that living better and longer is reducing the chances of developing cancer.

Choline stabilized orthosilicic acid is an effective chelator of heavy metals including lead, mercury, arsenic, and
aluminum. Choline stabilized orthosilicic acid is the most absorbable form of dietary silica, and offers many
additional health benefits including better hair, skin and nails, plus stronger bones and collagen. Choline

The bottom line for extending your long and healthy life is understanding that hardly anybody
dies of old age. Nearly everyone dies of disease or the failure of a particular part of the body.
Putting one's attention on maintaining good health by giving the body what it needs: good
fuel, moderate exercise, adequate rest, and practicing a technique to dissolve stress, people
can reasonably expect to live far longer than is generally the case at present. Our anti-aging
program is really a pro-health program. Similarly, our healthy heart and anti-cancer
programs are really pro-health programs with different starting points. All pro-health
programs are likely to have much in common, with certain points emphasized a little more
depending on the health situation you are starting from.

There are thousands of diseases but only one health. Modern medicine studies disease and
places very little attention on health. Then it attempts to remove disease without
simultaneously creating health. In fact, medical treatments often further destroy health.
Without health, the disease-free state has a very weak foundation. To increase your lifespan
you need to work on your "health span".
Plus, who wants to live longer without good health? Lacking physical and mental health, long
life can become a nightmare of pain, disease and loneliness. Extending healthspan is a better
goal. One's healthspan is something that everyone can impact, beginning at any age, and the
result should be a longer and better life.
In the ancient Vedic civilization, the time of "retirement" had a profound purpose - the
attainment of ever higher levels of enlightenment. Retired people have time to meditate, and if
they are wise enough to do this then their wisdom may grow without bounds, and society will
begin to find in them the enlightened leadership that is so sorely lacking today. Enlightenment

The Eight Essential Sugars
Nutritional science has long identified the eight essential amino acids (proteins) that serve
as the building blocks for the body. These are leucine, isoleucine, lysine, valine, methionine,
phenylalanine, threonine and tryptophan. Getting all of these eight essential amino acids is
the reason for understanding the principles of protein complementarity (eating both grains and
legumes at each meal). These amino acids are called "essential" because the body cannot
produce them and they MUST be obtained from diet.
Less well known but equally important for good health are the so-called "eight essential
sugars". These are glucose, galactose, mannose, fucose, xylose, N-acetylglucosamine, Nacetylgalactosamine, and N-acetylneuraminic acid. These eight sugars combine with proteins
and fats to form a code that resides on the membrane of every cell. This code identifies the
cell and helps the body recognize self and non-self. Differences in this code identify the
different blood types. The code also serves many other purposes and is an important part of
the body's internal communication system. The sugars combined with proteins are called
glycoproteins, and combined with fats are called glycolipids.
Glycoproteins are used by the body for many other purposes including building enzymes,
hormones, immunoglobulins and antibodies. Glycoproteins are found inside every cell.
Glycolipids help build the brain and nervous system. Fucose and mannose can provide
significant cancer tumor suppression. The sugars are important for a strong immune system,
and this also helps fight cancer.
Principal sources of sugars in the human diet are fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, and
dairy. The fruits, vegetables, grains, and legumes provide starches that are broken down by
enzymes in the body to form glucose. Glucose can be transformed in the body by enzymes
to form xylose, mannose, fucose, N-acetylglucosamine, N-acetylgalactosamine and Nacetylneuraminic acid. Dairy provides the milk sugar lactose that is broken down by
enzymes to form glucose and galactose. Dairy is important in the human diet because it is a
source of galactose. The six sugars that the body can produce from glucose cannot be

properly called "essential" in the same sense that the 8 amino acids mentioned above are
called "essential". Nevertheless, your body requires all 8 of these sugars and if your body is
not able to produce them due to a genetic defect or for other reasons, then you will be
deficient.
The transformation of these sugars from one form to another by the body requires both
enzymes and energy. Generally, these transformations involve many intermediate steps and
each step requires specific enzymes and more energy in the form of ATP molecules. As we
saw in our discussion of oxygen, aerobic metabolism produces an abundance of ATP
molecules and anerobic metabolism produces very few ATP molecules. Also, we have
discussed in many places on the Alkalize For Health web site how a diet of cooked and
"prepared" foods is deficient in enzymes and leads to an enzyme deficiency in the body. Only
fresh foods contain enzymes. Therefore, the presence of sufficient ATP molecules and
enzymes in the body to convert the sugars cannot be taken for granted. A deficiency in ATP or
enzymes will lead directly to a deficiency in the sugars and a consequent breakdown in the
body's communication system, that contributes to many diseases. The conversion process
also requires vitamins and time. Obtaining the sugars from diet is more reliable and efficient.
However, the sugars are largely missing from the modern diet due to green harvesting, over
processing, cooking, and preserving.
Research in the area of glyconutrition is very new and more information should appear in the
coming years. We particularly look forward to a list of foods that contain these sugars when
the food is organically grown and fully ripened on the plant, vine, or tree. Obtaining these
sugars may be an excellent reason to have your own garden.

An Open Letter to Mankind
In the last twenty years, a huge and growing body of research has been carried out into the
role of the sugars that are an essential part of glycoproteins. These sugar-protein
complexes are the building blocks of our immune system, and are the method by
which cells "talk" to each other. Research now runs to over 80,000 papers in many
established medical journals. The accompanying papers in this pack discuss various aspects
of sugar metabolism, from the scientific research to case histories, along with doctors own
experience with the amazing healing qualities of these glyconutrients.
It has been conclusively shown that there are 8 essential sugars, and 6 are missing from
our modern Western diet. This lack is caused by soil depletion, early picking of vegetables
and fruits, processing of foods, and pollution. We all now face a very toxic environment, and
we now lack the very things we need to cope with the toxic load.
When these sugars are missing, the cells either cannot "talk", or they miscommunicate. The result is disease. Yes it is true, our cells can make these sugars from
glucose, but this is a very metabolically expensive process. It has been shown that dietary

examples of an over reactive immune system. An under reactive immune system could result

thinking, as deep a shift as that which occurred when bacteria were first shown to be the
agents of infectious diseases.
As doctors, I believe we need to move from a "curative" view to a "wellness" view of what we
do. Whilst modern medicine has made great strides in many areas, doctors, myself
included, feel somewhat helpless when attempting to deal with the flood of
degenerative disease and chronic illness that are the mark of our generation. All we
can offer are drugs with very serious, and in some cases, life threatening side effects.
In the year 2000, more than 100,000 people died from the effects of properly prescribed,
properly administered pharmaceutical agents in the United States alone. This does not count
the tragic accidents of improperly used medication.
Are these sugars safe? Well, they are food, not drugs. They have NO toxic or side effects.
Five of the eight are found in human breast milk, (one of the reasons why babies are
protected from disease by breast feeding). The sugars are not pharmaceutical agents, and
do not cure anything. They simply restore basic cellular functions to normal, and then
the body can fend for itself. The killer cells will work to identify and destroy diseased
or cancerous cells. The immune system can be restored to normal to modulate itself in
response to attack.
I believe that we are going to see this profound change in medical practice over the next few
years. As usual, I predict that the medical profession will be dragged kicking and screaming
into this change. Every major medical advance, from simple hand washing between patients,
to using limes to treat scurvy, to smallpox vaccination, the introduction of anesthesia, and
surgical asepsis, has been first ridiculed, then opposed, until finally acceptance came when
the truth became totally self evident. This is happening today with glyconutrition. There are

now over 1000 medical practitioners in the USA who regularly use
glyconutrients in their practices. The AMA in Australia has just release a paper
acknowledging the patient's right to use complimentary medicine. That statement allows such
things as acupuncture and yoga, techniques that may have benefit, but have no scientific
validation. Compare that to the huge body of literature on glycoscience, including the 1999
Nobel Prize in Medicine. The case history data is growing into the tens of thousands of
patients whose disease states have been improved, or in many cases eradicated, by the
simple act of adding these sugars to the diet. This evidence will, in time, be overwhelming,
and those who are skeptical and critical will be won over, by evidence that cannot be refuted.
When you have CAT scan evidence of the lesions of multiple sclerosis disappearing, of
metastatic carcinoma resolving, of the reversal of Alzhiemer's and Parkinson's disease, of
increase in IQ of Down's syndrome children, along with positive effects in arthritis, infections,
chronic fatigue syndrome, fibro-myalgia, what can you say? These are case histories
presented by medical professionals, not snake oil salesmen. They are medically verifiable.

MAGNESIUM CHLORIDE IN ACUTE AND CHRONIC


DISEASES

Back in 1915, a French surgeon, Prof. Pierre Delbet, M.D., was looking for a solution to cleanse
wounds, because he had found out that the traditional antiseptic solutions actually mortified tissues and
facilitated the infection instead of preventing it.
He tested several mineral solutions and discovered that a Magnesium Chloride solution was not only
harmless for tissues, but it had also a great effect over leucocytic activity and phagocytosis; so it was
perfect for external wounds treatment.
Dr. Delbet performed a lot of in vitro and in vivo experiments with this solution and he became aware
that it was good not only for external applications, but it was also a powerful immuno-stimulant if
taken by injections or even by mouth. He called this effect "cytophilaxis". In some in vivo experiments
it was able to increase phagocytosis rate up to 300%. Dr. Delbet serendipitously discovered that this
oral solution had also a tonic effect on many people and so became aware that the Magnesium Chloride
had an effect on the whole organism.
In a brief time, he received communications of very good therapeutics effects of this "therapy" from
people that were taking Magnesium Chloride for its tonic properties and who were suffering from
various ailments.
Prof. Delbet began to closely study the subject and verified that the Magnesium Chloride solution was
a very good therapy for a long list of diseases.
He obtained very good results in: colitis, angiocholitis and cholecystitis in the digestive apparatus;
Parkinson's Disease, senile tremors and muscular cramps in the nervous system; acne, eczema,
psoriasis, warts, itch of various origins and chilblains in the skin. There was a strengthening of hair and
nails, a good effect on diseases typical of the aged (impotency, prostatic hypertrophy, cerebral and
circulatory troubles) and on diseases of allergic origin (hay-fever, asthma, urticaria and anaphylactic
reactions).
Then Prof. Delbet began to investigate the relationship between Magnesium and Cancer. After a lot of
clinical and experimental studies, he found that Magnesium Chloride had a very good effect on
prevention of cancer and that it was able to cure several precancerous conditions: leucoplasia,
hyperkeratosis, chronic mastitis, etc.
Epidemiological studies confirmed Delbet's views and demonstrated that the regions with soil more
rich in magnesium had less cancer incidence, and vice versa.
In experimental studies, the Magnesium Chloride solution was also able to slow down the course of
cancer in laboratory animals.
Prof. Delbet wrote two books, Politique Preventive du Cancer (1944) and L'Agriculture et la Sant

(1945), in which he stated his ideas about cancer prevention and a better living. The first is a well
documented report of all his studies on Magnesium Chloride.
In 1943 another French doctor, A. Neveu, M.D., used the Magnesium Chloride solution in a case of
diphteria to reduce the risks of anaphylactic reaction due to the anti-diphteric serum that he was ready
to administer.
To his great surprise, when the next day the laboratory results confirmed the diagnosis of diphteria, the
little girl was completely cured, before he could use the serum.
He credited the immuno-stimulant activity to the solution for this result, and he tested it in some other
diphteric patients. All the patients were cured in a very short time (24-48 hours), with no after-effects.
As Magnesium Chloride has no direct effect on bacteria (i.e.it is not an antibiotic ), Neveu thought that
its action was aspecific, immuno-enhancing, so it could be useful, in the same manner, also against
viral diseases.
So he began to treat some cases of poliomyelitis, and had the same wonderful results. He was very
excited and tried to divulge the therapy, but he ran into a wall of hostility and obstructionism from
"Official Medicine". Neither Neveu or Delbet (who was a member of the Academy of Medicine) was
able to diffuse Neveu's extraordinary results. The opposition was total: Professors of Medicine, Medical
Peer-Reviews, the Academy itself, all were against the two doctors. "Official Medicine" saw in
Magnesium Chloride Therapy a threat to its new and growing business: vaccinations.
Dr. Neveu wasn't discouraged by this and continued to test this therapy in a wide range of diseases. He
obtained very good results in: pharyngitis, tonsillitis, hoarseness, common cold, influenza, asthma,
bronchitis, broncho-pneumonia, pulmonary emphysema, "children diseases" (whooping-cough,
measles, rubella, mumps, scarlet fever...), alimentary and professional poisonings, gastroenteritis, boils,
abscesses, erysipelas, whitlow, septic pricks (wounds), puerperal fever and osteomyelitis. But the
indications for Magnesium Chloride therapy don't end here.
In more recent years other physicians (and I among these) have verified many of Delbet's and Neveu's
applications and have tried the therapy in other pathologies: asthmatic acute attack, shock, tetanus (for
these the solution is administered by intravenous injection); herpes zoster, acute and chronic
conjunctivitis, optic neuritis, rheumatic diseases, many allergic diseases, spring-asthenia and Chronic
Fatigue Syndrome (even in cancer it can be an useful adjuvant).
The preceding lists of ailments are by no means exhaustive; maybe other illnesses can be treated with
this therapy but, as this is a relatively "young" treatment, we are pioneers, and we need the help of all
physicians of good will to definitely establish all the true possibilities of this wonderful therapy.
From a practical standpoint, please remember that only Magnesium CHLORIDE has this
"cytophylactic" activity, and no other magnesium salt; probably it's a molecular, and not a merely ionic,
matter.
The solution to be used is a 2.5% Magnesium Chloride hexahydrate (MgCl2-6H2O) solution (i.e.: 25
grams / 1 liter of water).
Dosages are as follows:
- Adults and children over 5 years old....................125 cc
- 4 year old children..............................................100 cc
- 3 year old children................................................80 cc
- 1-2 year old children.............................................60 cc
- over 6 months old children....................................30 cc
- under 6 months old children..................................15 cc

These doses must be administered BY MOUTH. The only contraindication to Magnesium Chloride
Therapy is a severe renal insufficiency. As the magnesium chloride has a mild laxative effect, diarrhea
sometimes appears on the first days of therapy, especially when high dosages (i.e. three doses a day)
are taken; but this is not a reason to stop the therapy.
The taste of the solution is not very good (it has a bitter-saltish flavor) so a little of fruit juice
(grapefruit, orange, lemon) can be added to the solution, or it can be even used in the place of water to
make the solution itself.
Grapefruit juice masks the bitter taste very well (especially if cold).
For CHRONIC diseases the standard treatment is one dose morning and evening for a long period
(several months at least, but it can be continued for years).
In ACUTE diseases the dose is administered every 6 hours (every 3 hours the first two doses if the
case is serious); then space every 8 hours and then 12 hours as improvement goes on. After recovery it's
better going on with a dose every 12 hours for some days.
As a PREVENTIVE measure, and as a magnesium supplement, one dose a day can be taken
indefinitely. Magnesium Chloride, even if it's an inorganic salt, is very well absorbed and it's a very
good supplemental magnesium source.
For INTRAVENOUS injection, the formula is:
Magnesium Chloride hexahydrate........................25 grams
Distilled Water...................................................100 cc
Make injections of 10-20cc (very slowly, over 10-20 minutes) once or twice a day. Of course the
solution must be sterilized.
This therapy gives very good results also in Veterinary Medicine, at the appropriate dosages depending
upon the size and kind of animals.

Though it kills 90 percent of bacteria on the skin within 90 seconds, its use as an antibiotic has been
tragically ignored. Iodine exhibits activity against bacteria, molds, yeasts, protozoa, and many viruses;

difference between using an antibiotican anti-life substanceand an antibiotic, antiviral and
antifungal substance like iodine, which is life-serving because it is a basic and most necessary
nutritional substance.

Studies have shown that the chances of dying from hospital pneumonia or septicaemia (blood
poisoning) are twice as high if the bacteria are drug-resistant, rising in the case of pneumonia from 2030% to 40-60%.
Dr. David Derry wrote, Iodine was the most effective agent for killing viruses, especially influenza
viruses. Aerosol iodine was found to kill viruses in sprayed mists, and solutions of iodine were equally
effective. In 1945, Burnet and Stone found that putting iodine on mice snouts prevented the mice
from being infected with live influenza virus in mists. They suggested that impregnating masks with
iodine would help stop viral spread. They also recommended that medical personnel have iodineaerosol-treated rooms for examination and treatment of highly infected patients.

Arm & Hammer 1926


A half teaspoon full of Bicarbonate of Soda is in a glass of cold water, and repeated if necessary in one
or two hours, will often ward off a cold in its early stages. In addition a hot Soda Bath is very
beneficial. Use half pound to one pound of Bicarbonate of Soda in as hot a bath as can be borne.
Remain immersed in the water for about fifteen minutes. It is important to go to bed at once after this
bath in order to avoid exposure.
A bath taken in this way causes the Alkali to penetrate the system and is a material aid to the human
system in throwing off the germs of Grippe. In 1918 and 1919 while fighting the Flu with the U.S.
Public Health Service it was brought to my attention that rarely anyone who had been thoroughly
alkalinized with bicarbonate of soda contracted the disease, and those who did contract it, if alkalinized
early, would invariably have mild attacks. I have since that time treated all cases of Cold, Influenza
and La Gripe by first giving generous doses of Bicarbonate of Soda, and in many, many instances
within 36 hours the symptoms would have entirely abated.
During the first day take six doses of half teaspoonful of Arm & Hammer Bicarbonate of Soda in glass
of cool water, at about two hour intervals. During the second day take four doses of half teaspoonful of
Arm & Hammer Bicarbonate of Soda in glass of cool water, at the same intervals. During the third day
take two doses of half teaspoonful of Arm & Hammer Bicarbonate of Soda in glass of cool water
morning and evening, and thereafter half teaspoonful in glass of cool water each morning until cold is
cured.

Cancer Bugs
In 2007 Scientific American said, Researchers have for the first time shown that as many as 1.3
million cases of cancer a year may one day be successfully treated or even prevented by targeting and
destroying the viruses that cause them. Scientists at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva
University in New York City say the finding could pave the way for conquering human cancers that are
linked to preexisting viral infections, among them liver cancer (caused by the hepatitis B and C
viruses), cervical cancer (from human papillomavirus) and lymphomas caused by the Epstein-Barr
virus. They key, they say, is to find and destroy the viruses before they turn cancerous.
The same protocol for infections, when expanded with the introduction of cannabinoid medicine, is
effective for cancer and the numerous infections that cause or accompany it.
