Video - An educational reenactment takes the in-depth cultural
experience of participating in a reenactment and joins it with the
educational structure of a social studies classroom. Students learn
not only about events, but also about the people and the broader
time period. The goal is to make the life of the student approximate
life in a past time period as much as possible. In a reenactment,
students take on the role of the figures in question. The students
also must understand the conflicts, political issues, and community
problems from the era. This allows for group work, effective
communication, development of social skills, deeper learning and
active engagement.

Main 1: Students are introduced to the 1967 Abortion Act, but must
guess the condition in which an abortion is allowed in the UK.
Students begin to read the leaflet which contains information on the
Act, as well as reasons why abortion is a controversial topic.
Students label pro-choice and Pro-life above each reason for why
abortion is controversial.

Literacy based task - This involves the selection of materials that will

regarding classroom design; and intentional instruction and
facilitation by the teacher because literacy-rich environments can be
individualized to meet student's needs, teachers are able to create
both independent and directed activities to enhance understanding
of concept of print and word, linguistic and phonemic awareness,
and vocabulary development such as a leaflet.

Main 2: Teacher introduces 3 scenarios of women in dilemmas

regarding the option of abortion. Students must discuss with their
partner for 1 minute and explain what they would do/recommend.
Each scenario has an added twist which will allow them to discuss
again for a further minute before feeding back to the class.

Main 3: Students will create a wheel of 3 scenarios each, which

they will use the following lesson as a starter. this task has been
modelled by the teacher to ensure the students understand, as well
as displaying an example from the previous year.

Scenario based learning- Learning scenarios should provide the eLearner with learning that is realistic, engaging and interactive. It
focuses on applied knowledge and causes the learner to reflect on
the content and their understanding of it. Learning scenarios lend
themselves to learning that seeks to understand the principles
underlying everyday problem-solving and decision making. They
provide learners with the opportunity to experiment with different
responses to situations that could be encountered in life or on the
job and gain insights into what determines success and failure.
Because authentic learning scenarios ask the learner to actively
make decisions, they cause the learner to practice retrieving and
transferring information.
