Shaving Gel

M-0016(LA)

This soft lathering shaving gel allows the razor to slide across your face. Its rich creamy texture and ease of application is provided by Carbopol* Ultrez 20
polymer. Glucam* E-20 humectant leaves your skin feeling soft and supple. The mild surfactant package enables the shaving gel to rinse easily from your
face as well as the razor.

** This formulation was developed using regionally supplied surfactants. The specific surfactants used may
impact formulation properties.

Procedure:
1.

PART A: Sprinkle Carbopol* Ultrez 20 polymer onto the surface of


Deionized Water (25 40 C). Wait until the polymer has completely wet
out. Begin gentle agitation (200 rpm), mixing for 5 minutes.

2.

Pre-neutralize dispersion with Sodium Hydroxide (18%) to pH 4.5 to 5.5.

3.

Heat batch to 60C with slow agitation.

4.

Heat PEG-150 Distearate to 60C and add to PART A with mixing. Mix until
uniform at 300 rpm.

5.

Add PART C ingredients to batch one at a time in order with mixing. Mix for
10 minutes or until uniform.

6.

Neutralize batch with Sodium Hydroxide (18%) with mixing. Mix until uniform.

7.

Cool batch to 40-45 C with slow agitation (200 rpm).

8.

When temperature of batch is between 40-45C, add PART E ingredients one


at a time in order with mixing.

9.

Mix batch until uniform and batch cools to 30C.
