Dear Friend,
Warm Christian greetings to you from everyone at the Full
Gospel Lighthouse Church in Torrington, CT. We trust you’re doing
well. The Lord is wonderful and so gracious towards us! He said, “Draw nigh to God,
and He will draw nigh to you” (James 4:8). There are no if’s, and’s, or but’s about it.
He positively will draw near to you when you draw near to Him! He didn’t say,
“Everyone but you!” He didn’t put difficult conditions on that statement. He said,
“Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you.” He has made every provision
possible to meet you at your point of need, but He will not go over your will. He will
not force His will over yours. It is a matter of you asking Him to come into your heart
and forgiving you of every sin. If you do, He will come into your life and begin to lead
and guide you into all truth!
We have been experiencing a wonderful move of the Spirit of God at our church.
Recently, a woman came to church burdened down with the cares of life. Without going
into details, her circumstances drained her of her joy and peace. It had been a long time
since she experienced the peace of God in the fullness that the Word of God promises
His people. She has tried to do all she could to help her family but in the process has
been bogged down and discouraged. But she came to church one Wednesday evening
and heard the blessed Word of God and received prayer at our altar. The next day she
called first thing in the morning to tell me she listened to what the minister spoke and
took it to heart. She went over the Scripture verses that were given in the message and
she said she closed her eyes and for the first time in a long time she felt peace. She was
very happy she came to church! She had a good night’s sleep and awoke the next
morning with that peace of God that passes all understanding!
One of the verses of Scripture given in the message that night is found in I Kings
8:56, where it says, “Blessed be the Lord, that hath given rest unto His people
Israel, according to all that He promised: there hath not failed one word of all His
good promise, which He promised by the hand of Moses His servant.” I know the
people of Israel won’t mind me quoting this verse for our day, because the Lord has
more than an abundance of peace and rest for all who call upon the name of the Lord at
any time and in any day! He is gracious to all who call upon Him in sincerity. Whoever
is humbled by the cares of life, and troubled by the things that have come upon the face
of the earth, the Lord is compassionate and with lovingkindness and tender mercies He
lifts up those who are bowed down and satisfies the thirsty soul! What He has promised
He has never, ever failed: not one word of a promise. Not one “i” is undotted, and not
one “t” is uncrossed! He takes care of every bit of His promises to man! If you and I
will take the time to find out what the promises of God are, there would never be a
problem too big for us to handle because the Lord will help us through them all!
But it’s not just the natural things that keep us from obtaining the rest the Lord
promises us. Usually the battles are spiritual in nature and we tend to think we can work
through these things on our own. But we can’t: it’s as simple as that. This is why the
Lord designed the church. We are told to pray one for the other, by love serve one
another, and care one for the other. Sometimes the spiritual battles we face are too big
for us alone so we need others to pray through on our behalf. The great Apostle Paul
asked the churches to pray for him many times. There were many adversaries, just as
there are today, and he desired the saints, those of like precious faith, to pray through on
his behalf and the Gospel’s. God opened many doors for him and the Lord is still at
work today for those of us who will pray. Our country and our young people especially
need the prayers of the people of God. The promises of God are for them but there are
many adversaries. And we know that not one promise of God shall fail, for it is
impossible for God to lie. What He said He would do, He will do!
I hope this letter is a source of arousing the gift of God in you to the surface and
that you will take advantage of the opportunities God gives you to pray for others.
When you sense the presence of God as you pray, please consider us in your prayers.
We certainly will be praying for you and your family. He is nigh unto all who call upon
Him in truth.
