August, 2015 Reeves - Trujillo Peru

The middle of July, we had the privilege of hosting a team from the First United Methodist Church of
Portales, NM. As long time partners with us in ministry, it was great to have the group from Portales
come and see what we are doing and join in some hands-on-ministry. The team was comprised of eleven
members from Portales and "add on" members from as far away as Wisconsin.

The team worked hard on construction of the Church and Christian Family Development Center. In the
afternoons, they held VBS and healing services at five different churches. While a few team members
worked on laying tile in the bathrooms, others worked on painting the first floor. Hundreds of children
participated in VBS where they learned the story of the good Samaritan, made colorful salvation
bracelets, decorated gift bags, and played games.
The healing services following VBS were times of a pouring out of
Christ's love and the Holy Spirit. Many of our Peruvian leaders shared
with me what a tremendous blessing it was for them to join in with the
team in praying for the needs of the Peruvian people. At each service,
many tears were shed as our Peruvian church leaders paired up with
various team members to pray for those that came forward. The vast
majority of those who participated in the healing services came
forward to receive prayer - in some churches, there was a 100%
response to the invitation. Many people prayed for physical healing,
others wanted prayers for family problems, and most importantly, at
least five people prayed to receive Christ as their Savior.
Our van got put through the paces, hauling heavy tile and transporting
people all week. At one point, the sliding side door fell off (the van
was stopped). But that turned out to be a blessing. The mechanic who
re-attached the door did such a good job that it works better than
before. (We shouldn't be losing any team members or materials from
the side door any time soon.)

We have great funding needs for construction, continuing ministries, etc; but the purchase of new vehicles
has become a high priority. The pickup truck was in the shop for eight weeks before the team arrived. It
lasted three weeks out of the shop before it died again while a team from Frazer UMC was here. The van
is too small and has some mechanical problems (it died again this week). Please consider a one-time
donation to help us replace our two 20 year old vehicles. They have been faithful vehicles that have
fought the good fight, but the end of the race is definitely in sight. We have found a new 16 passenger
Renault Master mini-bus for $39,000 - 2014 model and a 5-yr. old Nissan truck for $18,000. We have
$27,500 in gifts and pledges. Thank you again for your prayers and your gifts.
