Dear Mother

I now win inform you mat we are well at this tune and hope these lines will find you well we reed yours of
August 2nd which gave me pleasure unspeakable I would be so glad to see you that I cannot express it in
words sometimes I mink I will come and see you but it is so hard to get ready. WllBaro has been unable to
work for three years out of four and it is hard scuffling to get a long in that way for the last year be has
been able to work and we have recovered very much in mat tune we did intend to move to me Bannenr last
fall but James going to Mexico prevented us now perhaps we will move to Jefferson City near Louisville
we have gottoratingcigars and makes all we get out of the store in that way we now havefouran more
acres of ground intobaccoand that will afford us work for a long time and we make two thousand per day
and at this time get one dollar andfiftycts per thousand when you write again if you can find out what they
are worm in mat county and if we could make our expences perhaps we will come and bring some and see
you. James started to Mexico from Louisville on the first day of Nov. last as a privet soldier when they
got to Vericus he was appinted ordeiy sergant and when they got to die City he met with his uncle James
Vaughn and he gave him an office in the quarter masters department that brought him fifty eight per
month in adition to his other wages which give him 65 dollars per month he got home on the 22nd of July
last well and harry he is now at work at 20 dollars per month and talks of coming to that country he says he
will come with me to see you in the fall and perhaps we will come and see you Jane moved to Indianna
last Dec was a year and I have not seen her sence she hasfourchildren none of the rest is married when
you receive this write again to me and let us keep up a corrispondance with each other as long as we boath
live if we cannot see each other we can conversetogetherand if we do not see each other in mis world let
us endeavor to meet where our joys win be complect and longtogetherdwell we all that is grown belongs
to die Baptist Church and I hope all is pressing on die road to Canaan land where all our joys will be
complete in a wourld where sorrow and siging is no more we reed a letter from George Preston and they
was well perhaps you have not hard that A. V. Farmer awl his wife is dead we got this from George we
have had an uncommon wet summer crops looks fine we have good corn the rain is not falling we have at
thistimepeace in society but a cold and witny time in things of religion but we hope die good Lord will
smile upon us and save us with an ever leasting salvation die children that is here sends their best love to
you and say they would be glad to see you Madison says he will come and see you Direct yours to the
same place we live in about a mile of that office Janes told us he saw 2 of John Fremans sons in Mexico
tell our relations to write to us I have nothing strange to write to you and so I will concude by subscribing
