Pleasereadthemailcompletely.Ithasimportantmessageforyou.

TheScience,EngineeringandTechnology(SET)projectregisteredbyyouinthissemesterisof2creditsunderyour
curriculum.Thisregistration(SET001)isalreadymadebytheAcademicsOfficeasadefaultregistrationandcanbe
viewedunderyourCourseRegistrationlink,insideyourstudentlogin.Youareexpectedtocarryoutthisproject
relatedtoyourprogrammeofstudyortotheextentpossible,relatedtoanyofthecoursesthatyouarecurrently
studyinginthissemester.Thisprojectcanbeexperimental,designoriented,modelling&simulation,fieldsurvey&
analysis,productdevelopment,etc.Projectcanbeinterdisciplinaryalso.BeingaPostGraduatelevelproject,itis
expectedtobehighqualityandshouldreflectyourinterestintheareachosenbyyou.ItisexpectedthatallyourSET
projectsshouldendupasajournalpaper(preferably,Scopusindexed).

Youmaydothisprojectasagroupofthree(maximum)ortwoorasanindividual.Oneofyoucanregisterusingthe
linkthatisalreadymadeavailableunderyourloginandindicatewhoaretheothermembersofyourgroup.Oncea
groupiscreated,itisnotpossibletochangeanymember(neitheraddnordelete).Hencebeforeyoucreateagroup,
pleasediscussamongthemembersandthenenterthedetailsinthesoftware.Onlyonememberofthegroupneeds
toregister/enterthedetailsinthelink.Oncetheregisternumberofothermembersofthegroupareenteredinto
thesoftware,theycannotcreateanothergrouporcannotbemembersofanyothergroup.

YouneedtoidentifyafacultyfromanySchool/Programmeacrossthecampus,underwhomyouwishtodotheSET
projectwork.Youmaytalktotheidentifiedfacultyfirstandgettheirconcurrence.Oncethefacultyagrees,indicate
thefacultyinyourlink.Onceaguideisindicatedinthesoftware,itisnotpossibletochangetheguidebyyou.A
correspondinglinkwillappearundertheguidesFacultyloginforacceptanceofyourrequest.Subsequently,you
mayinformtheguidethatyouhavemadetheSETregistrationandaskhim/hertoacceptthesame.Onlywhenthe
guideacceptsyourrequest,yourSETregistrationiscomplete.Incasetheguiderejectsyourrequest,theguide
needstodothesameusingtheirFacultylogin.Onlythen,yourgroupcanchangetheguideusingtheyourStudent
loginandrepeattheprocedureindicatedabovetillyouaresettledwithaguide.Failuretoidentifyatopicorguide
by10thAugust2015(Monday)mayresultinanNgradeintheSET001course(CourseIncomplete).

ItmaybenotedthattheoutcomeoftheprojectwillbecontinuouslyevaluatedbytheGuideandbyateamof
facultymembersatSchoollevel.Aminimumofthreeevaluationswillbecarriedout.Youwillbeassessed
individuallyandreceivemarksfortheprogressyouhavemadeintheproject,individually(notthesamemarkforall
membersofthegroup).Towardstheend,youareexpectedtomakeaposteronyourworkandpresentthesame
beforeateamofexpertsvisitingyourposterpresentation.Itwillalsocarrymarksseparately.Aspartofthe
evaluation,youneedtowriteapaper(inastandardjournalformat)andpresentthesameduringtheSET
Conference,whichalsocarriesmarks.PlagiarismwillbeviewedseriouslyandmayresultinanFgrade.Student
whoreceivesanForNgradeneedtoregisteranextraProgrammeElectivecourseinasubsequentsemesterto
meettheirgraduationcreditrequirements,asperUniversityregulations.

Youareexpectedtoindicatethetitleofyourprojectworkduringyourregistration.Thiscanbeedited/alteredby
youatalaterdatealso.Detailedevaluationmetricsfollowed,weightagesatdifferentstages,keydatesforvarious
projectmilestones,etc.willbeseparatelycommunicatedtoyouormadeavailablethroughyourstudentlogin.

YourcoursesareofferedunderRBLmode(ResearchBasedLearning)andhenceyoumaynothaveCATexamswhen
allUGstudentsarehavingtheirCATIandCATIIexams.Sinceyouwillnothaveregularclassesonthosedays,you
areexpectedtodevotetheentireCATweeksfortheprojectwork(CATperiodsarenotholidaysforPGstudents).
PleasenotethatyourguidewillalsoberelativelyfreetodiscusswithyouontheprojectduringtheCATperiods.

TheSETConferencewillbeheldon3rd&4thNovember2015(Tuesday&Wednesday).Students/ResearchScholars
otherthanthosedoingtheSET001projectworkcanalsoparticipateintheSETConferencedirectlyandpublisha
paper.Detailsonthiswillbecommunicatedseparately.
