Prayer Guide for Jerusalem and Israel

(not a comprehensive list – compiled for JAMHOP March, 2010)

1. Prayer for God to empower the Church with grace and revelation to be a witness to the Jewish community.

…You have said, ‘I know you by name, and you have also found grace in My sight.’ Now therefore, I pray, if I have
found grace in Your sight, SHOW ME NOW YOUR WAY, that I may know You and that I may find grace in Your
sight. AND CONSIDER THAT THIS NATION IS YOUR PEOPLE.” And [the Lord] said, “My Presence will go with
you, and I will give you rest.” (Exodus 33:12-14)

2. Prayer for the Lord to release the power of salvation to Israel and look upon her with favor..

And now, I pray, LET THE POWER OF MY LORD BE GREAT, just as You have spoken, saying, ‘THE LORD IS
LONGSUFFERING AND ABUNDANT IN MERCY, forgiving iniquity and transgression...PARDON THE INIQUITY
OF THIS PEOPLE, I pray, according to the greatness of Your mercy, just as You have forgiven this people, from
Egypt even until now.” (Numbers 14:17-19)

3. Prayer for the 24/7 houses of prayer in Jerusalem.

...regard the prayer of Your servant and his supplication, O LORD my God, and listen to the cry and the prayer
which Your servant is praying before You today: THAT YOUR EYES MAY BE OPEN TOWARD THIS TEMPLE
night and day, toward the place of which You said, ‘My name shall be there,’ that You may hear the prayer which
Your servant makes toward this place. And MAY YOU HEAR THE SUPPLICATION OF…YOUR PEOPLE ISRAEL,
when they pray [in] this place. Hear in heaven Your dwelling place (1 Kings 8:28-30)

4. Prayer for the peace of Jerusalem.

O Lord, according to all Your righteousness, I pray, let YOUR ANGER AND YOUR FURY BE TURNED AWAY
FROM YOUR CITY JERUSALEM, Your holy mountain; because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers,
Jerusalem and Your people are a reproach to all those around us. Now therefore, our God, hear the prayer of Your
servant, and his supplications, and for the Lord’s sake CAUSE YOUR FACE TO SHINE ON YOUR SANCTUARY,
which is desolate. (Daniel 9:16-17)

5. Prayer for God to return to Israel.

…You, O LORD, shall endure forever, and the remembrance of Your name to all generations. You will ARISE AND
HAVE MERCY ON ZION; for the time to favor her, yes, the set time, has come. For Your servants take pleasure in
her stones, and show favor to her dust. So THE NATIONS SHALL FEAR THE NAME OF THE LORD, and all the
kings of the earth Your glory. For the LORD SHALL BUILD UP ZION; HE SHALL APPEAR IN HIS GLORY.
(Psalm 102:12-16)

6. Prayer for the Aliyah (return) of the Jewish people to Israel and God from your nation/continent .

Save us, O LORD our God, and GATHER US FROM AMONG THE GENTILES, to give thanks to Your holy name,
to triumph in Your praise.. (Psalm 106:47)

Fear not, for I AM WITH YOU; I WILL BRING YOUR DESCENDANTS from the east, and gather you from the
west; I will say to the north, ‘Give them up!’ and to the south, ‘Do not keep them back!’ Bring My sons from afar,
and My daughters from the ends of the earth. (Isaiah 43:5-6)

7. Pray for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on Messianic Jews with prophecy, dreams, and visions.

"And it shall come to pass afterward that I WILL POUR OUT MY SPIRIT ON ALL FLESH; your sons and your
daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions. And also on My
menservants and on My maidservants I WILL POUR OUT MY SPIRIT IN THOSE DAYS." (Joel 2:28-29)

8. Pray that Israel would have a revelation of the Jesus as their Bridegroom King.

...your Maker is your husband— THE LORD ALMIGHTY IS HIS NAME— the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer;
he is called the God of all the earth. The LORD WILL CALL YOU BACK AS IF YOU WERE A WIFE deserted and
distressed in spirit—a wife who married young, only to be rejected," says your God. "For a brief moment I
abandoned you but WITH DEEP COMPASSION I WILL BRING YOU BACK. (Isaiah 54:5-7)

9. Pray that God would raise up Messianic ministers who shepherd according to His heart.

"But I WILL GATHER THE REMNANT OF MY FLOCK out of all countries where I have driven them, and bring
them back to their folds; and THEY SHALL BE FRUITFUL AND INCREASE. I will SET UP SHEPHERDS OVER
THEM who will feed them; and THEY SHALL FEAR NO MORE, NOR BE DISMAYED, NOR SHALL THEY BE
LACKING,” says the LORD. (Jeremiah 23:3-4)

And I WILL GIVE YOU SHEPHERDS ACCORDING TO MY HEART, who will feed you with knowledge and
understanding.. (Jeremiah 3:15)

10. Pray that the Jewish people would be united under the governmental authority of Jesus.

‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “Surely I will take the children of Israel from among the nations, wherever they have
gone, and will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land; I WILL MAKE THEM ONE NATION
IN THE LAND, on the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king over them all; THEY SHALL NO LONGER
BE TWO NATIONS, NOR SHALL THEY EVER BE DIVIDED into two kingdoms again. (2 Thes. 1:11-12)

11. Pray for God to raise up Messianic forerunners to intercede for reconciliation in Jewish families.

But to you who fear My name THE SUN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS SHALL ARISE WITH HEALING IN HIS
WINGS...Behold, I WILL SEND YOU ELIJAH the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the
LORD. And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers lest I
come and strike the earth with a curse.” (Malachi 4:2,5-6)

12. Pray that the Jewish people would corporately welcome Jesus as their Messiah ("Baruch Ha'Ba B'Shem
Adonai).

"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather
your children together…you will not see me again until you say, 'BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME
OF THE LORD’.” (Matthew 23:37-39)

BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD! We have blessed you from the house of the LORD.
(Psalm 118:26)
