AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING P10M AS MAY BE NECESSARY TO IMPLEMENT THE BIRTHDAY
PRESENTS GIVING PROGRAM FOR SENIOR CITIZENS OF TAGUIG CITY PERSUANT TO R.A 9257
WHICH AMOUNT SHALL BE INCLUDED I THE OFFICE OF SENIOR CITIZENS AFFAIRS (OSCA)
BUDGET FOR CY 2009 AND EVERY YEAR THEREAFTER, SUBJECT TO APPLICABLE LAWS,
ACOUNTING AND AUDITING RULES AND PROCEDURE.

WHEREAS, the City Government of Taguig, in compliance with Republic Act No.
9257
Entitled AN ACT GRANTING ADDITIONAL BENEFITS TO SENIOR CITIZENS AMENDING FOR
THE PURPOSE REPUBLIC ACT NO. 7432, recognizes the entitlement of Senior Citizens to
rights/privileges that befit their disabled and handicapped status in society;
WHEREAS, the City Government of Taguig, adhering to the valued Filipino tradition
of caring for the elderly, enacted Ordinance No. 11, Series of 2004, granting privileges to
the Senior Citizens of Taguig City.
WHEREAS, the City wishes to provide its Senior Citizens additional benefits
specially during their birthday;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the Sangguniang Panglungsod of Taguig , in
session assembled that:
SECTION 1. Bona fide Senior Citizens of Taguig City shall be provided with or
entitled to presents during their birthdays every year.
SECTION 2. DEFINITION OF TERMS For purposes of this Ordinance, the
following terms are defined as follows:
a. Senior Citizen or Elderly means any resident of Taguig City who is at least
Sixty (60) years of age.
b. Bona fide means a Senior Citizen who is duly registered as such with the
Office of Senior Citizen Affairs (OSCA)
SECTION 3. RESPONSIBILITY The OSCA, tasked with the strict implementation
of this ordinance, shall determine, through the accomplished registration forms
submitted to it by its members, their respective birthdays and addresses.

SECTION 4. APPROPRIATION- The necessary appropriation for the implementation of

this Ordinance shall be obtained by the City Government of Taguig out of the citys OSCA fund.
SECTION 5. SCOPE This Ordinance shall apply to all members of the Senior Citizens of
Taguig City on their birthdays, provide, such Senior Citizens of Taguig City on their birthdays,
provide, such Senior Citizens are duly registered and holders of identification (ID) cards as such
issued by the City Government through its office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA)
SECTION 6. SEPARABILITY CLAUSE Any provision of this Ordinace found to be invalid
or unconditonal shall not affect the order sections and provisions which shall remain valid and in
effect.
SECTION 7. REPEALING CLAUSE- Any and all resolutions, ordinance and allied
issuances with provisions inconsistent or in conflict with those in this ordinance are hereby
deemed repealed or modified accordingly.
SECTION 8. EFFECTIVITY This Ordinance shal take effect on January 2009 after being
provided with budget appropriations and funding requirements for its implementaion. Let a copy
of this ordinance be furnished the City Treasurers Office, the City Budget Office, Accounting
Office, OSCA and other concerned offices for their information, guidance and references.
