"COUNT

YOUR

BLESSINGS"

One hour before midnight on New Year's Eve in the meeting of the
Slavic Church, I started to count the blessings that the Lord bestowed
on me during 1972; but it was almost impossible to do because
there
were so many blessings bestowed on me, my family, and our work for the
Lord.

It is just as impossible to count them now and put them on paper

so that you could read about them, and share our joy, and see what can
be done when we join our hands together in the ministry for the Lord.
THE NUMBER ONE BLESSING was that the good Lord kept me and my fa
mily in good health. Despite the many people that were sick with dif
ferent kinds of flu during the different meetings and rallies, I was
well all the time. There was no cancellation of meetings or gatherings
because of some kind of sickness.

BLESSINQ_NUT^ER TWO was that

I was very busy in the work for the

Lord.^.,,--5uring 1972^^ held 20 succesful Faith Promise Rallies, spoke

at S'^lleges, took part in 3 conventions, brought special messages at
7 Rallies and Retreats, and visited 23 churches. All together, I prea
ched 135 sermons aijd gave 20 special talks.
-

THE THIRD BLESSING was that the Lord opened the door for me to
visit Poland where I was al?le to preach the Gospel without any hind
rance; to have conferences with our preachers, and to see what
was
done for the Lord with your prayers and support through faithful
mi
nisters in Poland.

I was also able to visit Czechoslovakia, Germany, Switzerland, and En

gland with the message.

BLESSING NUMBER FOUR w;^s that with your help, we were

raise $ 78,970.27 and with that money we were able to:
1.

Publish a Polish magazine regularly and sent it to

able

25

to

coun

tries.

2.

3.

Publish songbooks, poem books. Life of Christ, and Book

of
Acts, vis., purchase Bibles in the Polish, Russian, Ukrainian,
Czechoslovakian, Runanian, German, French, and English
lan
guages and send them to thousands of people.
Broadcast the Gospel of Christ in Polish, Russian, and Ukra
inian from two stations.

4. . Support 24 preachers and 4 students.

5. Purchase camp grounds and have the camp in Poland.
6. Send over 400 packages of used clothing and medicine.
Because of this ministry and preaching, many souls responded to the
Gospel invitation.
OUR FIFTH BLESSING was that we had many friends visit our home
and stay with us and share the blessings of our work. I was also able
to stay in many homes across this land and other countries and

have

wonderful Christian fellowship and enjoy great hospitality.

BLESSING NUMBER SIX: with the contributions, we received
many
wonderful letters with the assurance of prayers and concern which was
great encouragement for us and greatly helped us in our wprk.

Once more we would like to express our appreciation

concern and thank you for your p;rayers and support.
Please remember us in 1973 also.

Work Among Foreign Speaking People in the United States of America

Dear Frlendss

Apostle Paul in the letter to Romans, chapter 10 sald "How then shall they
call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believje in
Him of Whom they have not heard? And how shall they preach, except they be
sent? As it is written, how beautiful are the feet of them that preach the
Gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!"
Recently, we, in America are rejoycing because the war in Vietnam
ended
and our POW are returning back to the beloved country with honor. We thank
God for peace and victory.

cBut

in spiritual realm there is no peace, still the war is going on.

With God's help and your faithful assistance we are engaged in such minis

Requests for Bibles, Christian literature, Songbooks, Poem books etc., are
reaching us constantly. Messages through radio penetrate into the
hearts
of people.

Faithful workers on the field labour dilligently winning souls and

We receive hundreds of requests in this country to help, with mission

For last few years we hear these songs at
our worship services, special meetings and gatherings. Many times we hold in
our hands the songbooks* "Heavenly Sunshine" and "One Song", use them
and
think nothing of it.
It is very natural to have them in our hands and that's
that! But we do not dare to think this way. We all have the great debt of
gratitude to the poet and translator - Adela Bajko.
Let these few words of recognition from our side at least partially pay our
debt which we all owe for such useful and great work.
Thanks to this strenuous work we have access to the temporary song which
is
based on new themes, new rhythm and interpretation. We highly treasure this
work knowing its character and use fulness. The youth sings, sings indeed

THE WORD

FROM-'fBRO. WINNIK

I would like to tell you a little ab^ut my~"workwtth'"1;he radio broadcast

and

distribution of literature. Our weekly Monday broadcasts "The Voice of Truth"

are very well received by all people in Poland and bring blessed results.
Since it is not possible to tell you all details, I must restrain myself to a
very condensed picture of that work.

Since June 1972 I supply a local station in Conn, with some spiritual
mate
rials, and sice October 1972 I am sending my complete programs to a radio sta
tion in Portugal, which are on the air to Poland every Thursday and Saturday
at 7.45 p.m. In the past year I sent 20 such programs, and this year 15. That
project came as result of Bro. Bajko's last trip to Europe and the
necessity
to help the brethren overseas with their work.
The distribution of Christian literature continues all the time. I am

sending

packages with such to many countries, but mostly to Easten Europe, where

the

hunger for the Word of God does not diminish, but on the contrary grows
all
the time exceeding our publishing possibilities. Our songs are being sung by
hundreds of young people all over Poland in various churches, including the Ro
man-Catholic church.

w:. jf , ;ri

Many of our Christian friends heard about

"^my heart ailment. Since April 1969

till

August 1972 I had three serious heart at

tacks and had to spend in the

hospital
all together 65 days. But after my
last
heart attack I was in the hospital only
16 days and after returning home I
was
able already after one week to resume my
work preparing the radio programs, answe
ring letters ans carefully packing packa
ges with literature for Europe. Although
according to the doctors I was very
se
riously ill, I am still able to do my
work although a little slower and
with
different tactics. 1 am

thankful

that

there are some good results from my work,

and from the many letters I know
that
there were souls won to Christ through
Radio Listeners in Poland

that work.
-

It is only through the grace of God

and thanks to the prayers of my ma
ny Christian friends
here
and
abroad, that I am still able to work
for the glory of God,

I want to thank you all for

your
prayerful support, and please

Beloved In Christs

Time is flying fast.

Each day is busier and there Is so much to do in the
Lord's Kingdom and His great mission field.

In March I had two Faith Promise Rallies and in April, except for one trip
to New England area mission emphasis day, I spent almost the whole
month
with the Slavic Church of Christ, where I preached and taught Sunday School
during the absence of the minister Adam Korenczuk, who was on a tour

with

the Concert Choir of Eastern Christian College.

Much of my time was occupied with writing articles to our Polish magazine,
visitations, answering hundreds of letters, sending support to Poland
and
teaching at the College,
We are very happy to inform our friends that the work in Poland Is prog
ressing. Our preachers preach the Gospel freely, souls are baptized
into
Christ, young ministers and workers are preparing for 6 weeks of Christian
Service Camp and several

Rallies.

Literature which we publish here and send to Poland is reaching destination ^

without any interference.

Each week the Gospel of Christ reaches many hearts throuhg radio Monte Car
lo and WBMD In Baltimore.

We receive many letters of thanks and with requests for more spiritual food.
In our Church in Baltimore we are now in pteparatlon for a great

The work is going on because of your prayers and strong support.

"Dear Friends!

It is not so long ago since I started to listen to your

that

time I have listened to every one. From time to time I cannot hear well
because there is interference. My parents are R.C. I have two sisters

and one brother. We are religious people. I am a student but religion

does not give me the answer to life and I have so many problems.
How
can I have this faith in God which you preach about over the radio? It
is difficult to have this faith. It is difficult to get good Christian
literature in our country. The Bible costs 400 zloty and it is nece ssary to work two weeks to get a Bible. I do not know one family
who
has a Bible, I don't have any either. It is very sad that R.C. has no
contact with the Holy Scripture. It is a shame. I write to you please
s-ind me a Bible in Russian language and other Christian literature for
which I shall be grateful.
In my next letter I will write more.

POLAND,

"Dear Friends? Thank you very much for the package with such precious

It was above my expectation to receive such great litera
ture which portraits the Life of Jezus in such a wonderful way.
Thank you very much for the song books, Cantata and the records. It is beau

renew our spirit and direct our thoughts to God. Thank you also for the book
of Poems written by Mrs. Bajko, Could you send me more of them. Yours, J.Cz."
POLAND.

"Dear Sirs? Thank you very much for all packages with literature which I re
ceived few days ago. Each package received from you has great value, it is a
real treasure for us.

I talked to many people and found that all of them are listening to your ra dio programs. Your messages are heard by all monks and nuns in all monaste ries and I am afraid it will be for you even hard to understand what

great

impression and influence the Word of God, you preach, has on all people.
Especially your literature is making great impression upon all - young
and
old, child and longhaired boys. As soon as they take it into their hands &
start to read you can see how God's love is reaching them.
May the Lord reward you and give you more strength to work for Him.

Under this theme and main thought

CHURCH

OF

The Slavic Church of Christ which was started by the Department of Missions
in i960 had a great day on May 27t It was the first aniversary in the new

The history of Slavic Church is very unique.
In i960 there were not more then 6 people meeting in a private home, then in
rented facilities of a Methodist Church and when we incorporated the Church
in May 1961 with 12 members, we purchased our own building the same year.
People gave sacrificially toward the building payments and at the same time
toward the Church program.
The progress of
the
Church was slow

was sold with a great profit. No wonder there were many tears of Joy
and
thanksgiving during the Note Burning Ceremony.
The Slavic Church is unique also because of its unity. The Church consists
of people of different nationalities^ Polish, Russian, Ukrainian & American.

The services are in different languages. Each Lord's Day the Gospel is prea

service

at least 4 songs are sung and each is sung in a different language. At

We satrted our special services on Satur

day evening during which Brother George Bajenski, one of the original char
tered members who recently arrived from Warsaw, Poland, was the featured
speaker. On Sunday morning, our choir and orchestra participated and we
had many special numbers. J.T. Segroves, president of Eastern Christian
College, brought a challenging message "To Walk Hand in Hand With God".
We had a marvelous time of fellowship and great food at lunch as our
ladies prepared an opulent lunch for everyone.
At 3iOO we had many more guests that came for the Note Burning Cere
mony.

Brother Bajko told the story of our congregation and how it came to

this poinx. in her history. He recalled the sacrificial spirit and the in
domitable desire to be free of debt. This, coupled with the blessing from
the Lord and the Sacrificial giving of our American brethren who gave gen
erously through the Department of Missions, brought us to this glorious day
of burning the note which represented our indebtedness. He called the El
ders and Deacons to the front and we proceeded to bum the "note". Follow
ing the "note burning" we prayed in Polish, Russian, Ukrainian and English,
thanking God for His great help and asking Him to help us bring others to
Him. I was a very touching ceremony which brought tears to many eyes. Fol
lowing the Note Burning Ceremony, we took up a special offering to be taken

to Poland by Brother Bajko to help build a Christian Service Camp. Brother

Arnold, from Frederick, Maryland, brought the concluding sermon commending
us for such an accomplishment and challenging us to do yet greater things
for God.

In the name of the congregation, I would like to oake this opportimity

to thank all those who gave us their financia"! help for the building through
the Department of Missions. May the Lord bless you richly in your endeavors

to serve Him.

TRIP

On June

POIAND

20th, Dela and I departed to Poland for a 15 day visit. For

us it was a very exciting trip. We flew TWA from Philadelphia

to Frankfurt

and from Frankfurt to Warsaw on a Polish Air Line.

Due to

the air controllers strike In Germany, our plane was two hours late, but
In spite of this there were niany precious Christian friends at the War
saw airport to welcome us with their smiles, tears of joy, kisses and
beautiful flowers.

The welcoming dinner which was prepared for us at 4 P.M. had to be post
poned till 10 P.M. because we had less than 30 minutes before the first
service where I had to preach. Although I did not close my eyes all

night

during the flight due to the change in time /5 hours difference/,

God gave me strength to bring the message of Good News. After the ser
vice there were more talks and welcomes and then, almost dragged away

from the crowd of friendly people, we went to enjoy our dinner /a late,
late supper/. Till late that night we still talked to people.
The next day, after a few hours of sleep,we paid a visit to some govern
ment officials and establishments and then Dela departed to her home city where she had a royal welcome, while I remained in Warsaw in order to
preach at a Revival Meeting.

On June 23rd, from early morning, I met with a group of Polish preachers

and workers and after a prolonged prayer meeting we discussed the work
and progress of the Christian Service Camp, I was glad to find that all
our ministers are redeeming the time preaching the Gospel and, al
though not without problems and difficulties, with the help of God move
on.

I was very happy to hear that all help given from this side is used wise
ly and helps them greatly in the ministry. They are very appreciative
and thank God for Christian love and concern.

It thrilled my heart to hear reports and to see the zeal and desire to
serve the Lord,especially since it was mostly a group of young preachers}
preachers with burning hearts and enthusiasm for the work in the Kingdom
of God.

I learned from them and later from our travels, that all our publications^
songbooks, Polish magazine, Life of Christ, poem books, etc. are received
with thankful hearts and do a great service. There was only one complaint

It was our desire to visit the

areas of Poland, so we were able to visit a

few places* It la liard to describe the Joy of those whom we visited, who

for years have listened to our broadcast each Hondayi whom we never met
before. They opened their hearts and homes. The planned visits were
too short* Few hours of visitation with each family were appreciated,
but at the same time heartbreaking, because those people were expecting
us to stay with them 2 3 days at least. There were genuine tears In
their eyes when we were leaving and they asked us to come again or to
send somebody to them to tell them more about Jesus. Each day we visit
ed at least three homes and then had a service in the evening and some
times even two services during the working day.
For some of those people the Christian broadcast is the only time when
they can hear the Word of God, so they are waiting anxiously till 5 P.M.
when they can meet again around the radio receivers and listen to the
Word of God.

During almost every service we heard the songs sung from our songbooks
by choirs, qijartets, etc., poems recited from our poem book, articles
were read from our magazine.
While we were in Poland we celebrated the 10th anniversary of a church
which was started by Bro. Wlnnik, and X also took part in the ordination
service of a young preacher.

But the most exciting moments of the trip were when we went to the Chris-

h.f-

tlan Service Camp where we met dedicated teachers and 70 youngsters who
came to leam about Jesus and to find Christ as their personal Saviour.
We went with them for a special 13 hour trip by boat on the beautiful
lakes. During that trip we heard them singing from memory many choru

ses translated by Oela, and I was able to preach to them, and

Dela

her testimony. The next day it was hard to depart from them. We wish we
had another 15 days to stay In Poland, but our time was limited due to
our commitments here and a load of work which we have to carry In order
to help In the preaching of the Gospel in Poland and to win many souls
for Christ.

It was also our privilege to leave with the brethren $ 1,350.00

camp and over $ 1,000.00 for Polish New Testaments.

After 15 days in Poland, which were the greatest days in our ministry,
and two days in Czechoslovakia, three days in East Germany, and few days

in West Germany, on July 18th we landed isack in our great and

beloved

country of America to be welcomed by our children and then in a few days

by our Slavic congragation where I was able to lead the first
prayer
meeting after our return and to tell them about the trip.

We thank all Christians for your prayers and help and ask you to pray
constantly about Christians in Poland, about our ministry in building the
Church of Jesus Christ, Christian Youth in Poland and children
anxious to leam about Jesus and radio listeners.

Dear Friendss

As we are approaching the Thanksgiving Season and then Christinas our hearts
are lifted up with thanks and adoration to our Heavenly Father,
Just a week ago at our Slavic Church of Christ we celebrated the Feast of
Harvest. It was great! We preached in Polish, Russian, Ukrainian and En

glish. Every one who was present thanked God for spiritual and
physical
blessings bestowed upon us by God in abundance here in the great country of
America.

Our thoughts were also directed to the people in Poland and other countries,
who tnay have much less of material posessions as we do but who share
the
same spiritual blessings because of many praying and contributing Christians
in this country.

Thanks to you we constantly supply people in Poland with song books, Chris
tian literature and Bibles? we send the message of Christ through two radio
stations. By us supported preachers are able to preach and win
souls for
Christ. Children and young people were able to learn about Jesus and over
50 souls this past summer accepted Christ as personal Saviour In the Chris
tian Service Camp,

It is great!

We just received good news that the government approved the plans of buil
ding the new home for aged people on the beautiful 12 acres of the
camp
grounds.

A young, dedicated Christian man entered into a special Bible training

course. He will be the manager of the Home for Aged People and in
charge
of
the Christian Service Camp.
Here at our home Sept. 6th the Guidance Committee of the Department
of
Missions consisting of Kenneth Meade, Adam Korenczuk, Ivan Odor,
Warren
Robblns, Charles Steele, J.T, Segroves, William Wa Iker, Paul Bajko /absent
Edmund L. John, Paul Porter, Desmond Tease/ met in a glorious meeting.
Reports were heard, recommendations were made, budget was approved,! never

saw such wonderful and harmonious group of people who are completely dedica
ted to the cause of missions.

Bro. Wlnnik, our radio minister, also was present at the meeting and

gave

report of great achivements through radio.

Our hearts rejoice and we thank God for all victories. We also thank
you,
dear Friends, for your vital interest in the work of the Department
of
Missions and

your support.

joy
and deep impression left in my heart upon listening to you speak to us here
at Debraff /Florida University/. The Lord does work in wonderous ways! Pre
vious to your arrival here, I had been going through various trials, parti cularly in School and how I was in a sense "shoving the Lord" to one side.
Thank you for sharing your great discipline and dedication to our Lord Jesus
Christ with us. Thank you for being a vivid example of what we all should be
as true Christians. A.J.F,"

TRIP

TO

POLAND

BY DELA BAJKO

Our summer trip to Poland was beautiful and at the same time heartbreaking.
Beautiful- because we could meet so many old friends and make so many
new

friends, and heartbreaking - because we did not have enough time

to spend

with them, or even to see everybody we wanted to see.

I shall never forget the time I spent In my home town, with my childhood

friends, in my old home church. As my husband mentioned in his previous re

port, my home congregation prepared for me a truly "royal welcome". On Sa
turday night they had a special informal reception in the church when I
could talk with everybody and get aqiulnted with all the new people, with the
choir singing several numbers, and the youth group singing from the chorus

books that we published.

On Sunday during the worship service

the

young

people prepared a special programs they were reciting my poems and singing

more songs that I translated with the accompaniement of the piano

guitar.

They wanted to show me their appreciation for our work, and

useful it is.

and

a
how

It made me so happy to see that our work is not in vain, just

the opposite - it's very, very useful and needed. I was so thankful that
God gave me the Joy to see the results and the usefulness of our work.

During this trip we did not have much time to spend with old friends
and
churches because we wanted to visit our radio listeners and people with
whom we correspond for a long time, not knowing them personally. These were
unforgettable experiences. As I Just mentioned, we knew all those
people
only from letters and we really did not expect such warm and sincere welcome,
It was beautiful! They were so happy to see us. They gathered their whole

families from near and far to meet us.

But - we did not have enough time for

them! All those people listen to our radio broadcast, they read our

litera

ture, we witness to them in our letters, but they need personal contact with
Christians, and we could give them only few hours of our time! They could not
believe that we were really leaving, when time for departure came.
This was
heartbreaking!... Our only comfort was that we brought along some of our Po
lish brethren who got acquainted with them and who will be able to visit them
again and tell them the Words of Life.

The time with the children in the camp was also great. But here we faced the
same situation: we just got a little a<quainted with the young people, got into

the swing of things, and - had to leave again to go on to our next appoint ment.

We came back home with the ^verhelming conciousness of the vast work that has
to be done: so many people got to hear the Good News! Somebody has to go and
tell them, somebody has to prepare the tapes and broadcast them, somebody has

to publish and

send out [the printed Word, somebody has to do millions of

other things in the Lord's vineyard, and this somebody is nobody but you and
I!
