Chapter 2
2) When the product was end of life, please do not throw it away, to deal with
according to the relevant state laws and regulations, or to sent it to our company, for
fear to pollute the environment!
Keep dustless and clean during the chassis installation and after installation;
Put the tools into the place that not easily be touched down;
Do not wear loose clothing to avoid tripping the chassis, fasten your tie or scarf
and roll up your sleeves;
If that environment maybe damage the eyes, please be sure to wear protective
glasses;
Do not carry out the operations that may cause personal injury or damage to
device.
-6-
Only the qualified personnel can install or replace the EPON access device;
Before operating on chassis or working near the power supply, please unplug
the AC power plug and disconnect the DC connection;
The final configuration of the products must comply with all applicable state laws
and regulations.
Before the operation of electrical device, remove the jewelry (such as: rings,
necklaces, watches, bracelets etc.). If the metal goods contact with "Power" and
"land", it may cause a short circuit to damage components and parts;
Before operating on chassis or working near the power supply, please unplug
the AC power plug and disconnect the DC power supply;
When the device connected to power, do not touch the power, beware of
Electrical shock;
The wrong connection between the device and power outlet may cause
dangerous situation;
Only the training of qualified personnel can operate and maintain the device;
Before the system connect the power, please read the installation guide
carefully.
Warning:
1)
Check the potential danger carefully: the wet floors, ungrounded power
extension cord, worn power cord;
2)
Put the emergency switch in the workplace, in order to quickly cut off the power
when the accident happens;
3)
Before installing/unloading the chassis or working near the power supply, must
disconnect the power switch of EPON access device, and unplug the power
cord;

2.3.1Environment
PTC04-II can be installed in desktop or rack. Chassis placement, rack layout and room
layout are very important for normal system operation. Equipment too close, bad
ventilation and difficult to access control panel, will cause maintenance problems or
system failure and broken.
When planning place layout and equipment placement, we should remember to
discuss preventive measure "prevention of workplace configuration." If the device is
often crashed or error, these preventive information can help you isolate the
breakdown to prevent recurrence of the problems.
Ensure that the workplace ventilation, Electrical device has a good heat
dissipation; If do not have enough air circulation, it can not provide a good
cooling environment for the device;
The placement of the chassis is best to let the cold air often blow chassis.
Ensure that the seal of chassis is closed, the open chassis will destroy the air
circulation within the chassis, which will interrupt the air flow or divert the flow of
cold air that has cooled the internal heat components.
-8-
2.3.3Rack configuration
Each device on the rack will be hot work, so the closed rack must have vents
and cooling fans, and device can not put too dense to ensure good ventilation;
Install the chassis on an open rack, attention that the framework of rack does not
block the ventilation hole of EPON access device chassis. Therefore, after
installing the chassis, please check the location of the chassis carefully to
prevent above happening;
Make sure that you have already provided effective ventilation for the equipment
at the bottom of rack;
Clapboard can help separate the exhaust and intake air, while helping the cold
air flow in the box, the best position of clapboard depends on the airflow pattern
within the rack. This position can be measured by the different way.
2.3.4Power supply
Check the power supply to ensure power system is grounded well; the input power of
PTC04-II is stable and reliable, if necessary it can install the voltage to regulate the
device. Protection measures of building short-circuit should ensure that there is a 240V,
10A fuse or circuit breaker in the phase line.
Warning:
If the power supply system is not grounded well, or the input power jitter is too large,
also is over-pulse, will lead to increase the BER of communications equipment, and
even hardware damage!

3.3.1Connection monitoring port
PTC04-II has one monitoring port (Console port).
Data rate 1200bps~115200bps, RJ45. Connect to PC via monitoring cable, use
terminal emulation software (e.g., Windows supper terminal) to configure and monitor
PTC04-II. Cable is provided with host. Terminal serial port communication parameters
setting as: data rate -9600bps, eight-bit, one stop bit, no parity and no fluid control.

3.4Post-installation review
When finish installation, make following check before power start:
If EPON connects on rack, please check whether install angle iron is stable; If
connects on table, please check whether there is enough space for heat
dissipation and stable.
- 16 -
Make sure you have release all static before open the cover, and turn off the
power supply. Before you execute any step of Appendix B, please read Safety
Suggest;
2)
When operate near power supply or chassis, please turn off power supply switch
and un-plug power supply cord.
4.1Open chassis
This part describes how to open equipment cover, tools and operation methods.
Warning:
Do not touch power supply when the power supply cord is connected.
When open the chassis, you may need the following tools which are not included in
standard configuration:
Cross Screwdriver
Steps:
(1)
(2)
(3)
Remark:
Chassis consists with cover and bottom.
(4)
(5)
You can see the system main board when remove the cover.
Remark:
- 17 -
Put the cover stable, in case of extrusion and collide. Otherwise, its hard to re-install
the cover.
(2)
(3)
When the cover and bottom is clung, slide the chassis to the slot;
(4)
(5)
(6)
- 18 -
Check environment condition, dont over heat. Check whether the intake and
vent are clean. Review Average Environment Requirement. PTC04-II working
temperature requires -40 to 85.
If PTC04-II can not start and indicator dimmed, please check the power supply.
If PTC04-II port could not LINK, check whether cable connection is correct and
peer connection is normal;
If Console port does not work when system start, please confirm Console port is
9600 baud rate, 8 data bit, no parity check bits, 1 stop bit, no fluid control.
