Management of broilers &breeders :

Based on following factors

1- Feed
2- Water
3- Environment
4- Litter.

1- Feed:
depend on
1- availability
2- distribution
3- quality.
Uptill 14 day age give adlitum feed
14day onward give 1 clean up time.

In powdered feed increases concentration of salts & metabolized energy.

But powdered feeds are due manufactured fault.
14 day logic of adlitum feed?
birds cannot reach the depth of plates. flock depend on 14 day
feed for wt gain.
Texture of feed
1- Good feeds have decreased powdered
contents
2- Crumb size equal 2-5 mm
3- Dark color feed have increased
metabolized energy.
4- In hot weather increased temperature,
then decreased metabolized energy in feeds otherwise birds will
experience flip overs
Premix feed :
contain
1- antiobiotics
2- coccidiostatis
3- vitamins
2-Drinking
also depend on
1-availability
2-distribution
one nipple for 13 birds
one drinkers for 80 birds in breeders
one drinkers for 68 birds in broilers

How to check water level ?

Nostrils of birds does not sink in water.

120ml/ min drop of water from nipples .

we cant wash the feeding lines so chlorination is done with sodium

hypochorite
pH of water should be 5.5-6.5
How chlorination kills bacteria?
1-bubling effect
2- un stables oxygen
chlorinated water must be stated from 1st day
up till end with intervals of vaccinations.
Stop chlorinated water 24hrs before and 24
hrs after vaccination.
Because live vaccine is itself a type of
microbe and may be destroyed by
chlorination.
Enviroment:
BASED ON FOLLOWING COMPONENTS.
1-Ventilation
2-Temperature
3-Humidity
4-Space
5-Light
6-Litter quantity
1- temperature:
1st 5 to 7days birds are cold blooded and onwards they
become warm blooded
Temperature in incubator is 40c
Temperature in setter is 38c
Temperature of d.o.c is 35c
Standard is 32-33c each and every week decrease
Temperarure of 5F

LIVING THINGS NEEDS OXYGEN

1- aerobic ( needs oxygen)
2- anerobic ( does not needs oxygenbut deosnot harm)
IN CONTROLLED FARMING
We needs ventilation to supply oxygen to birds and in turn
remove the dangerous gases like ammonia , carbon dioxide, carbon
monoxide and many other gases due to litter and birds itself and produced
during combustion of fuel in brooder and in turn removes the excessive
temperature and humidity also removal of humidity helps in drying off litter.
Phases of ventilation:
Ventilation is futher divided into 3 phases
1- minimum ventilation
2- transitional ventilation
3- maxumium / tunnel ventilation

1-Minimum ventilation :
least quantity of ventilation to meet objectives
that is 0.588 cfm/ kg body live wt.is the least requirements of birds
without the concern of coldest season
EXAMPLES OF MINIMUM VENTILATION
CALCULATION FOR FANS REQUIREMENT AT SHEDS
NO . OF FANS =cross section * desired velocity/cfm of one fan.
Cross section = w*h
Desired velocity= 600- 650 fpm

Width = 40sq ft
Height= 10sq ft
Length= 380 sq ft
NO. OF FANS = W*H*D.V/CFM OF ONE FAN
= 40*10*650/18000
= 14FANS
AIR CHANGE time= L*W*H/ NO OF FANS *CFM OF ONE FAN
= 40*10*380/14*18000
=0.60* 60 SEC
= 36 SEC

MINIMUM VENTILATION
= TOTAL BIRDS * WTS IN GMS
= 20000* 40gms
= 800000gms
conversion in kgs
= 800000/ 10000
= 800
= 800*.588 cfm
= 470cfm
= cfm of fan 470/ 9000
= .05* 60= 3 sec

CALCULATIONS FOR VENTS :

40% OF OF MAX. VENTILATION IS UPPER LEVEL OF MIN
VENTS= NO. OF FANS * CFM OF ONE FAN *40%
= 13*18000*40%
= 93600 CFM
ACROSS THE VENT=700FPM
= 93600/700
= 133 Sq.feet
area of one vent 44*7 (sq.inches)= 308/144= 2.13sqft
total no. of vents = 133/ 2.13= 62 vents
CALCULATION FOR PADS:
NO OF PADS = NO OF FANS * CFM OF ONE FAN /350
350 IS ACROSS PADS VELOCITY.
= 13* 18000/350
= 668.5Sq.ft
= 668.5/ 12
= 55 pieces
ONE BOX CONTAINS 4 PADS.
2- TRANSITIONAL VENTILATION :
In between mimium and maximum
ventilation 2-4 cfm /kg live wt
1- 3- MAXIMUM / TUNNEL VENILATION:
Uptill 5cfm/ kg live wt. 4.7 cfm/ kg live wt.
Heat stress index:
H.S.I= temp in F + humidity in %
= 150- 160
if more than 160 then heat stress will occur and if less than
150than cause chilling effect .

VACCINATION PRACTICE :
1- Stop chlorinated water 24 hrs prior to vaccination .
2- Wash the main water tank of house and scrub it in rinse.
3- Drain lines (nipples) with water
4- Stop drinking 2hrs prior to vaccination
5- Half an hour prior to vaccination start preparation of vaccination of
vaccination .
1- wash your hands up to elbow.
2- Take half filled tub of water.
3- Mix skimmed milk or vaccine stabilizer( 1 tablet) into tub of
water.
4- Now take the vials of vaccines
5- carefully read the date of expiry
6- take a vial and break the seal and remove the rubber seal under
level of water and mix it thoroughly
7- now calculate the water required of that day. So that it may be
enough for 2 hrs
8- now pour the solution into water tank
9- now inspect the level of nipples lines and remove air bubbles
from the system if any.
Water required = days * total no . of birds/1000
Skimmed milk required = 2.5 gms per liter of water.s
