1.0 SCOPE
This procedure outlines the methods to be followed for the installation of
cable tray.

5.0 MATERIAL CABLE TRAY INSTALLATION


As per attached Project Schedule and Project Drawings Pertaining to the Electrical
Scope.

6.0 DESCRIPTION OF WORK METHOD


The work method to install the above mentioned Cable Tray shall be in the following
sequence.
A.

Pre-Installation Checks

Verification of Cable Tray installation from relevant Approved for Construction


Drawings.
Check if drawings are of current revised status.
Site released for Cable Tray Installation.
Conform if area is ready for installation or workable.
Layout of exact location of cable tray installation should be determined.
Review Construction Drawings for general notes/details and familiarize the installation
method recommended by the Client.
Exposed areas for erection shall be cordoned by means of hazard identifying tape /
barricade.
Confirm that all Tools & Tackles required for installation are available. As a minimum
the following shall be made available.

Slings
D-Shackles
Pulley
Welding Machine
Abrasive Cutting Machine
Drill Machine
Grinding Machine
Electrician ToolBox
Check adequate place for Unloading the cable trays.
Personnel involved in the activity are made aware of the risks and the steps to be taken
to mitigate any hazard or unsafe situation.
B.

Material withdrawn from Warehouse

Material inspection will be carried out by QC Engineer to ascertain that no damage has
occurred to the cable trays. Incase of any damages common inspection and report will
be issued.
Store material requisition shall be made.
The cable tray shall be transported in their Original packing to location.
The Crane shall be positioned in such a way that there is no obstruction to movement
of vehicles or hindrance to works of other contractor.
C.

Support prefabrication

The supports required, if any, for the installation of the cable tray will
be prefabricated by contractor in accordance with the drawings and client
recommendations.
For Frame type supports it shall be placed in position aligned and ensure that correct
level has been achieved.
For the cable tray identification,remove any oxidation that may be on the be tray by
using a non-metallic adhesive pad prior to stenciling the tray number.
D.

Description of sequence
Cable Trays ready for installation shall be unloaded near the working area.
Shortages or damages if any shall be brought to the attention of the Client immediately.
Each and every loose item shall be properly identified before installation.
Cable Tray and supports shall be lifted by the Crane for heavy load or pulley for lighter
loads and off-loaded on the platform for elevated areas.
Layout Cable trays according to Approved Construction drawings.
Clearance between top of cable trays and beams or piping shall be observed as per
Clients specification.
Ensure that hold-down clamps,bolts and etc are well tightened.
After tray installation,each tray tray shall be mark with tray number for identification
prior to cable installation.
After Complete Installation of cable tray,inspect for sharp edges that point towards the
inside of the tray that might damage the cable. These areas shall be smoothen or
remove accordingly.
Inspection of QC Engineer in the installation and punch list.
As-Built mark-up drawings certified by Client.

HSSE Seminar : Contractor will conduct seminar about Safety,Health and


Environment on site.
Tool Box Meeting : Will be held daily before Job Starting.

Use of P.P.E.

All the workers shall be provided with safety equipments and ensure that they are
using them in proper way.
The staff and other co-workers has the responsibility to check workmen wearing proper
PPE at site daily.
If same worker will be found not wearing proper PPE, the supervisor will stop him and
provide for those immediately.
The item issued to the worker must be periodically inspected and changed in case that
they are found damaged or they do not meet the specified conditions.

Items of personal use shall be inspected regularly and maintained in serviceable and sanitary
condition and before reissuing to another person or returned to storage shall be cleaned,
disinfected, inspected, and repaired. Employees shall wear clothing suitable for weather and
work conditions.
