Maintenance

Maintenance - Greasing
Working tool lubrication should be carried out every two hours
(Maximum permissible duration)
Depending upon the site condition, temperature and quality of
grease the lubrication should be carried out more frequently.

If ContiLube II is fitted on your machine, check if the greasing is

OK on shank.

Maintenance - Greasing
Grease gets accumulated between working
tool and piston is the greasing is carried
out with the working tool hanging

Maintenance - Greasing
Chisel should be always pressed against
the ground during greasing

Maintenance - Greasing

ALWAYS USE ATLAS COPCO CHISEL PASTE

Maintenance Chisel Paste

Advantage:

-the solids content act as

a ball bearing
- considerable less wear

Grease Technical Specification

ALWAYS USE ATLAS COPCO CHISEL PASTE

Maintenance

Always remove the working tool for inspection of all wear

parts every week (40 - 50 working hours)

Maintenance Wear Bush

Keep a tab on the wear
bush limit. Always look at
the log book for rate of
wear.
If the wear limit exceeds,
replace immediately.
See the operators
instruction for the limit
Always remove the working tool for inspection of all wear
parts every week (40 - 50 working hours)

Maintenance Wear Bush

Worn out wear bush can

damage the piston,
cylinder, other wear
bush, etc.
Cost of replacement of
these parts shall be very
expensive

Maintenance wear bush

Please inspect the wear bush
and buffer condition every
week. Please take note of
diameter, any galling, pitting,
etc

Replace if the wear is

excessive see operating
manual.
Replace if any damage was
observed
Checking of inner components
to be done with inner calipers

Maintenance Retainer Bars

Please carefully inspect the retainer bars whenever the
working tool is dismantled for inspection.
Burring should be smoothed off carefully.
Replace if the wear is excessive see operating manual.

Maintenance Working Tool

Please carefully inspect the wear on the working tool.

Also inspect for galling, pitting, etc
Please look at the quality of grease / greasing if
damaged.
Replace if the wear is excessive diameter at bushing
area has come down beyond permissible limit see
operating manual.

Maintenance Hydraulic Oil

All the oil brands prescribed by the excavator
manufacturer is suitable
However the viscosity should be HLP 32
and above.
In summer and higher operating
temperature, the higher viscosity grade oil
should be used.
Max oil temperature should be : 80 degree
centigrade
Filter inspection / replacement suggested :
500 hours

Maintenance Hydrauli Oil

Maintenance daily
Check the tensioning bolts visibly from the hole provided in CS Box
/ through inspection window. Check if the color marking has shifted.
Any shift in color marking is due to loosening bolts. Immediately
tighten them after opening the adapter plate.
Check all the visible plastic parts elastic pad, etc for proper
condition.
Check the condition of the working tool
Check that the chisel paste is always available on the shank area of
the working tool
Greasing - as explained earlier should be done regularly
maximum two hours.

Maintenance daily

Check hose connections for leakage. Tighten if required.

Check nipples for hose connections for leakage. Tighten if required.
Check fasteners on pipe clamps, flow divider mounting, etc
Check all the visible fasteners on the excavator for any slackness,
Check adapter plate bolts for slackness
Check that hydraulic hoses are not vibrating during operation vibrating
hoses indicate punctured diaphragm.

Maintenance Weekly
Check the working tool for wear and tear. Replace if necessary.
Check the other items such as piston, wear bush, buffer ring, retainer
bars, other dust protector components. Take necessary preca
Check screw couplings and all hose connections. Check all nipples.
Check piston accumulator gas once / twice every week. 40 working
hours approximately.
Check the tensioning bolts visibly from the hole provided in CS Box
check if the color marking has shifted. Any shift in color marking is
due to loosening bolts. Immediately tighten them after opening the
adapter plate

Maintenance Weekly
Tighten adapter plate bolts
Check all fasteners on the hydraulic breaker and installation kit for
any slackness. Loose ones to be tightened.
Check for any vibrations on the hydraulic hoses. Hoses indicate low
high pressure accumulator pressure.
Check that the grease lines are Ok and grease is reaching both the
bushes. And also check that the greasing frequency is OK or not.
Check condition of the plastic parts visually.
Record all the wear readings in the logbook.

Maintenance general
Inspect the set of plastic parts after opening the
adapter plates if excessive movement of impact
mechanism is observed, tensioning bolt found
loosened, etc.
Thorough inspection of working tool, upper & lower
wear bush, retainer bar, buffer ring, piston striking
surface to be done if some unusually excessive play,
metal partials on wear bush area, overheating of
working tool and lower part, etc is observed.

Maintenance general
Check all rubber parts for any damage.
High pressure accumulator pressure - when the
vibration on the hydraulic hose increases
considerable - See special instructions.
Inspect the adapter bolts thoroughly.
Inspect the damaged hoses. Replace if required.
Take additional care when the hammer is being
stored for longer period - See special instructions.
