TERRY E.

SOILEAU

My name is Terry Soileau. I am a Senior Electrical Designer with over 35 years of Petro-Chemical
and Nuclear related experience. I also have 4 years experience in an earlier career in
Architecture.
The personal attributes I possess that I believe will benefit an employer most, in addition to my
vast experience in the electrical field, are my attention to details as well as my communication and
organizational skills. My primary electrical experience has been in low to medium voltage power
systems. I am also quite proficient in a multitude of computer programs associated with this field
and general office work such as Microsoft Office applications and various image editing software.
I am considered to be very dependable and a team player that works exceptionally well with other
members of a project group. When I dont know the answer to a particular question I have no
trouble admitting this and seeking out the best answer from any source available. While primarily
a design leader for 23 of the last 27 years, I have remained very active in the actual
design/drafting efforts to keep my skill levels up to date. This has even served to minimize the
number of designers needed on the projects that I have been assigned to work on.
Over the years I have been involved in many grassroots projects as well as retrofit work of existing
units in various facilities across the country. I have been involved in all phases of project
development from front-end estimation to supporting the construction efforts. Design and layout of
electrical substations were a regular part of many of the projects I have worked on. Work share
supervision of two different India office electrical design teams over the years was part of my
ongoing responsibilities on several projects with Jacobs Engineering.
The creation of One Line Diagrams, Elementary and Wiring Diagrams, Physical Plans, Details,
Schedules, and written Scopes of Work are the responsibilities I regularly have had over the
years. Also included in my knowledge base are cable tray sizing, voltage drop and lighting
calculations, along with complete familiarity with NFPA 70 (National Electric Code) and applicable
NEMA Standards.
I am well versed in the use of 3D design tools such as Intergraph PDS Electrical Raceway and
Equipment Modeling, Smart Plant Review, LFM Server, and Bentley Navigator V8i. I look forward
to becoming a valuable asset to a company that utilizes these and other tools for a better and
more cost-effective design effort.
Over the years I have also developed an expertise in Microstation, while still being proficient in
AutoCAD, and have created a very extensive Microstation Electrical users menu and cell libraries,
which help to streamline any design effort. Efficiency in design is one of my particular focuses. I
have the reputation of being the go-to guy for less experienced Microstation and PDS users as
well as electrical design in general for more junior designers. Willingly helping others is one of my
strong attributes.
My objective is to obtain employment with a stable and forward thinking company where my
talents and expertise can be utilized to help the companys reputation for excellent work grow in
the eyes of both its current and future client base.

Education:

Architectural Technology, 1975-1976, Southeastern Louisiana University

Design Software Use:

AutoCAD (Have used for 30 years off and on up to Version 2014)
Microstation (Have used 90% of the time in the last 27 years - up to Version V8 XM)
Intergraph PDS Electrical Raceway and Equipment Modeling (21 years total use)
Intergraph SmartPlant Electrical (1 year)
I also have extensive experience with various other supportive computer programs such as: Crouse-Hinds
Luxicon Lighting Design, LaserGen Prism, LFM 3D Laser Imaging, Intergraph SmartPlant Review and
Navigator, NavisWorks. I am very comfortable utilizing any type of 3D design tools, being eager and willing
to learn new ones as well.
As an Electrical Design Leader at Jacobs Engineering for over 23 years, I have had the ongoing
responsibility of complete project electrical design team supervision of up to 6 designers and coordination
with other disciplines and offices on a variety of Petro-Chemical Projects. This included continuous handson design efforts as well, such as preparing wiring and physical drawing deliverables, equipment selection,
substation layouts, cable and conduit sizing, voltage drop calculations, cable routing and tray fill
calculations, equipment location plans, ductbank design and routing, conduit stub-ups, lighting calculations,
developing One Lines, schematics and wiring diagrams, grounding and lightning protection layouts, related
details and bill of materials, motor lists, and cable schedules. The physical aspects of design involved
extensive Intergraph PDS 3D modeling of cable trays and other electrical equipment, lighting, and
ductbanks. Some examples of these projects are listed below.
Representative assignments include:

As an Electrical Designer VI, I lead a design team for a grassroots project for Methanex in which two
Methanol units in southern Chile were relocated to Louisiana. The first phase was a $450M project
consisting of the main facilities infrastructure including a new Administration Building, a new 13.8KV
Switchgear Building, as well as a new unit MCC Building, Control Building, and the relocated Process
Unit. The second phase included another new MCC Building and relocated Process Unit. This project
entailed extensive Intergraph PDS Raceway design as well as the typical Electrical systems. It was a
workshare project with one of Jacobs India offices as well as several other offices in the US and Europe.

As an Electrical Designer 3 for Shaw Power, I worked on the Vogtle Nuclear Power Plant Expansion
project located near Waynesboro, Georgia. My main responsibilities were the physical design of AP1000
Class 1E power systems and included extensive Intergraph PDS 3D design as well as physical drawings
preparation.

While at CB&I, Inc. I was a Principal Electrical Designer for the offsites part of the FEED Phase of the
REFICAR refinery expansion project in Cartegena, Columbia using Intergraph PDS and AutoCAD
2010. This was a multiple office effort that more than doubled the size of the existing refinery and
included preliminary design of many grassroots units, medium voltage substations, cable tray
installations, roadway lighting, and complete one-line development for power distribution across the
entire project. This also involved extensive 3D modeling of cable trays and equipment and preparation
of one-line drawings.

Electrical Design Leader for the ExxonMobil Refinery, Chalmette, LA project team including multiple
projects such as a grassroots Flare Gas Management project, a grassroots ULSD project, and various
upgrades to the FCC Unit. The Flare Gas project included a new Substation with 480V & 5KV
systems, (3) 1500 HP 4160V compressors, area lighting, and extensive cable tray and underground
ductbank design, all utilizing Intergraph PDS.

Electrical Design Leader for the ConocoPhillips Refinery Low Sulfur Gasoline project in Belle Chasse,
LA that included the use of Intergraph SmartPlant Electrical. This program provided an ability to utilize
a database to produce and manage a Plant Electrical Distribution Network that would later be

expanded to include the entire plant facility by the client. This was a grassroots unit with extensive
power, cable tray, lighting and grounding systems and also included a new High Voltage Substation.

Electrical Design Leader for a VALERO Refinery project in Paulsboro, NJ that included Intergraph
PDS 3D design. Extensive underground electrical/instrument ductbanks were coordinated with other
disciplines efforts as well as 3D modeling of structure lighting.
