How does social media affect leadership?
Media is the most powerful tool to express views as the size of audience listening is tremendous. Social media has
revolutionised the world because people now judge person's credibility by its Twitter followers, Facebook friends and LinkedIn
contacts and recommendations. In this growing corporate world, leaders have no choice left but to be active on social media.
These contacts help them in getting business. Imagine an enterpreneur who wants funds for its new idea but is not active on
any social media. Even if its idea is very good,, the chances of him getting funds are less. Thats the power of social media.I can
recall recent two speeches delivered by very famous leaders of the country. One is Narayana Murthy and the other by Shashi
Tharoor.The speech of Shashi Tharoor got more than 2 million views and a lot of appreciation. Even Prime Minister applaided
him. On the other hand, the speech by Narayana Murthy was not liked by the audience and they expressed their views on
Social Media. So Socail Media has become a platform to share view. What a leader says, the first judgement comes on social
media So in thsi networked environment, a leader has to manage his communication so well that he gets an appreciation first
from social media, may be then comes the persons whom he is actually delivering the speech.
