Judas Priest
By John Miller

Note: Actually I think Priest uses more chorus and I a little less distortion than this
patch. Try this if you want. On the chorus, set the depth to 10 and increase the
mix/bal/mode to the level you desire. Then, decrease the gain on the distortion a bit.

Metal rhythm + lead patch

By John Miller

I made this one as a Metal lead patch, but it ended up being useful for a lot of things. It's
got a Dokken (George Lynch) sound to it, works for a Scorpions sound too, if you kill
the delay, by turning off B2 Eff2, it's got an older type Metallica sound. The pedal is set
for a slight pitch bend.

Metal Crunch
By John Miller

I was going for a Pantera/Sepultura/Testament type of crunch tone with this one, it's
pretty versatile, by using B4 EQ2 you can hone in on the sound you're looking for. The
"Metal Shred EQ trick", from the 3030 Tips and tricks page, really enhances this patch,
try it!

This patch sounds especially killer with a high output pickup (of course ;)Great crunch
sound and especially good for all sorts of general riffing. Equipment used:Guitar used:
Jackson King V Standard :))))))))))) Pickups used: Stock pickups
NOTE: A 3030 user sent me a tip concering this patch, they said it was for all you
Metallica fans :) This is the tip: Use an EMG 81 pickup with this patch and you will
almost have Hetfield's sound.

New!
Marilyn
By John Miller

I don't want to go as far as saying this is a Marilyn Manson patch, but that's what I was
going for. It sounds pretty good I think. I didn't run it through an amp, just straight out
through headphones. It has a stereo effect on it, the 'Stereo Spread 2' patch (adjusted just
a bit) from the 'Miscellaneous 3030 effect settings' page. If you're running through an
amp in mono you'll probably want to turn it off. You need a fairly hot humbucker to
make this one sound decent. Try playing Manson's "Beautiful People", that's the song I
had in mind when I created this patch. Use drop D tuning (Tune the low E string to D,
finger the E and A string on the same fret to make E bar chords) on this one for it to
sound right. Below is the soundfile for this patch. It's quite large, 1 meg, I figured unless
it was in high quality stereo, there would be no point in posting it here. I didn't use the
stereo effect on this recording, I just used 2 guitar tracks, and panned one to the left
channel, and one to the right. I recorded straight out of the 3030 into my 4-Track.
Here's the soundfile Marilyn wave

Pink Floyd Lead

By Giovanni Ilardo

This patch was sent in by an ex-3030 user. It sounds so much like Floyd, that I'm
amazed. If you kill the delay, or use the pedal to control the delay (like with the "Run
Like Hell Patch"), it is a Floyd rythm sound to a tee (like the one used in "Dirty
Woman"). Thanks to Giovanni Ilardo for this most excelent patch. I tried this patch with
a humbucker, although it would probly sound better with 1 or 2 single coils.

Brian May Lead

By Giovanni Ilardo

Another great patch sent in by Giovanni Ilardo. Brian May is the lead guitarist of the
70's era band Queen. If you are familiar with Queen's music, you will recognize this
lead sound. The long delay is something Brian utilizes at times for a nice repeat effect.
Play a short phrase and the delay will repeat it, or, If you play 1/16 notes, with fast
alternate picking, like an E minor blues scale, you'll have a nice effect, just as you've got
two guitar playing together. Also, if you play in tempo a descendant blues scale
(without stop), you'll have the same effect as a harmonist. If you'd like to know what
exactly is possible with that effect, try to listen "brighton rock" from the Queen album
"Live Killers". Giovanni says It's best to set your amp's treble at 10, middle at 7, bass at
2, reverb at 2
More advice>>>If you use a Les Paul use the rear pick up, and turn the volume and tone
full up . If you have the reproduction of Brian's guitar made by Guild, the "BM900" set
the rear pick up on, leaving the other two off, volume at 10 and tone at 8.
Note: The pedal controls the volume of this patch. Oops!! I forgot to mention that this
patch is meant to be played with a coin. Try it with a penny for starters.

New
Guns & Roses 'Don't Cry'
By Matkovitch

These two patches were created according to the song 'Don't Cry' by Guns & Roses, the
first one is for rythm/lead, the second for the clean part. If you are using an amp these
6

configurations are recommended: Bass 8-9, Treble 5-6. The equipment used to make
this patch were a Gibson LP Standard, and a Park by Marshall 30W amp.
'Don't Cry' Lead/Rythm
By Matkovitch

Note: Matkovitch says to Play Rythm using the bridge pickup on your guitar. For lead
change the guitar's pickup switch to mid Position and turn treble switch off. Thats how
slash does it.

AC/DC
By Antstheaxeman

This one kinda sounds like Angus Young. Try Highway to hell or Back in black. Might
need tweeking for the amount of distortion. I use an ibanez with Pearly gates on the
bridge and Alnice Pro II on the Neck. The bridge pick up sounds like angus and the
Neck sounds good for grunge rhythms. My guitar sound is slightly on the treble side. So
you may need to tweek the Eq for you guitar. Sound good with headphones, with amp
simulator on. Here we go

Clean Patches
Clean Patch 1
By John Miller

A clean patch for strumming, I was going for a modern clean sound. If you get any
background fuzz with this patch, try turning the EQ level down a bit (parm 5 on EQ2). I
have the compressor up high for recording purposes, you might want to change the
sense to 5, and the attack to 2 or so, for a less sterile sound. I still get a little background
fuzz on this patch anyway, mainly on the low E string, and I tried everything to get rid
of it, but on the recording I made, you really couldn't hear it. I'm still working on the ins
and outs of the 3030 clean sounds. This is optional, if you turn the distortion effect on, it
adds a slight overdrive to the patch, kind of gives it a boost, and more thickness.

Clean Harmony
By John Miller

This patch is a little like the 12 string from the preset patches, but the harmony is
different. The harmony I have it set to sounds good with minor chords, like A minor, E
minor and D minor. You can use the B1 parm2 setting to change the harmony. A setting
of 12, is going to be a whole octave up, and tuned like a 12 string. A setting of 5, or 3,
are the only other usefull ones I could find, for some interesting variations.
