From Room 14
The most important aspect of getting an assembly together is to have some fun! We
chose a play so that everybody could be involved and try their acting abilities. Who knows, we could have a future
Oscar winner in our midst! Dan Valley has some wonderful poems that help us with our reading fluency and
imagination. Making props is always an interesting experience and we all got involved to some degree to help make
our set. Mums, Dad and Nans were brilliant in helping us get our costumes together and Mr Creed, the Gardener,
helped put together our fire engine.
We have had a busy year so far in Room 14. Apart from all getting taller, weve done woodwork (all fingers still
present), lots of cooking, built a worm farm for the school garden, weeded and planted fruit trees and vegetables. It
has been a great learning experience and fun to get dirty at school!
In the classroom we have all been working hard on our learning. The Year 6s come and lead our reading groups
3 mornings a week and its great to work with the older kids. In Grammar we have been practicing syllables,
vowels, verbs, nouns and adjectives through a class story that Mrs Walsh wrote that we are all a part of. We
have used this work to improve our writing where we have been getting very creative. In Maths we have been
focussing recently on getting better at our times tables as well as learning about money, place value, number
sequences and symmetry. We cut a photo of our faces in half and tried to draw the missing half which we really
did a fantastic job at. We work hard each day and if we finish early theres always our Wizard Challenges to
complete.

Hats
With the days warming up rapidly, please be
reminded that in Term 4 we have a no hat,
no play policy all students need to have a
broad brimmed hat or legionnaire cap when
playing outside.
Children not attending Yakamia Primary
School in 2016
If you know that your child(ren) will not be
attending Yakamia PS in 2016, as you are moving
and changing schools, please let the office know
as soon as possible as it will help us to more
accurately staff the school and organise classes.

Desk Donation
Our sincere thanks goes to local farm, business
and strata insurer, WFI, for recently donating a
number of spare office desks to the school. WFIs
Albany branch is currently undergoing
renovations and the team were keen to show their
commitment to the local community through the
donation. For more information about WFI, call
their friendly team on 1300 934 934 or visit

P&C Jogathon
A big thanks to the P&C helpers, the students, teachers and
parents for all your support and help with the Jogathon.
A special thanks to Belinda Stonehouse for coordinating,
collating orders, counting money and cooking for the Sausage
Sizzle, which was a big hit with students and staff. A special
thanks also to Catherine Bramley for coordinating the Jogathon
set up.
Thanks also to Louise Fazio for collecting the money before
school in the hall. Money and forms are still coming in but so far
a whopping $7,424.70 has been raised for the school. Please
remember to send all forms in to the office to enable us to
account for all money collected.
