Business Context & Programme Overview

The pressures on todays frontline managers in Operations, Manufacturing and in Services are
relentless in terms of expectations from customers, senior managers and external suppliers. The
major challenge for them today is the ability to deliver quality products/services in an efficient, cost
effective and sustainable basis. Many believe that Efficiency of a business has overtaken Growth
in todays business environment.
It is in this context that Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA), as a leading business
solutions provider, is offering a Programme on Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. The Lean Six Sigma Green
Belt Certification Programme is designed to meet the needs of busy professionals in both
manufacturing and services sectors. Participants will experience an introduction to the use of tools
and methodologies that will empower them to lead as well as participate in Lean Six Sigma projects
in their organizations. Upon successful completion of the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, the participant
will have tools at the ready for participating as a Green Belt on a Six Sigma project. They will also be
qualified to lead teams in a six sigma project.
Programme Coverage
This programme covers the concepts of Lean and Six Sigma for both manufacturing and the services
businesses. Participants are provided an overview of Lean, Six Sigma and the Define, Measure,
Analyze, Improve and Control (DMAIC) problem solving methodology. The programme will detail
and deliver both statistical and non-statistical techniques used for continuous process improvement
such as process definition, process flow diagrams, data collection techniques, measurement
techniques, causes of process variation, pareto diagrams, histograms, cause and effect diagrams,
control charts and process capability analysis.

Who should attend?
Those responsible for, or are looking to contribute to, high impact
projects by incorporating Lean Six Sigma methodology. Participants will
be process owners or leaders, who are well versed in the technical
aspects of their jobs and would have worked in project teams. They
will normally be from Manufacturing, Production or Operations
functions of a business.

Pedagogy & Project Work


The programme will be delivered through a mix of lectures, presentations, case studies and team
based exercises. The interactive classroom experience will focus on strategic thinking, flexibility,
teamwork and communication skills.
As part of the programme, each participant will be required to create specific plans for their
organizations using the Lean Six Sigma concepts. Participants should plan on working in teams on
projects outside of the formal programme. This will entail spending close to 4-5 hours a week
outside of the scheduled class time.
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certificate:
To earn the LIBA Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certificate, the
programme requires the participants to meet the minimum standard
of 80% in programme attendance and completion of all project and
course work to satisfactory levels.
There will be a formal evaluation at the end of the course and on
successfully qualifying in the assessment, participants will be
certified as Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Professional.
Faculty for the Programme
The programme will be led by Prof. Kidambi Srinivasan (Ex. General Manager, Brakes India). He has
over thirty five years of industry experience and his specialism, includes practice of lean Six Sigma,
SCM, Discrete Manufacturing and Business Process Re-engineering.
He is himself a Six Sigma Master Black Belt and a Visiting Faculty at LIBA.
