the Natural resources Forest are large treasure houses of a huge wealth of
Natural resources. They significantly contain nearly 50% of the terrestrial species
of plants and animals. Right from his emergence an man has been using forests
as his habital and also as a source of food and other basic requirement. Initially,
he lived in the forest as a hunter and a food gatherer, utilizing all the available
natural resources .But later on, he turned to be the main destroyed of forests.

CONTENT
Forests are valuable to us in many ways. They satisfy our needs for timber
and other wood products, favorably influence the climate, atmosphere and water
resources, and protect the soil from wind erosion. The tranquility and the scenic
beauty of the wilderness always arouse our aesthetic imaginations and fine
sentiments. Forests are useful for recreational purpose, such as observation of
wild life and camping, for meeting our cultural requirements.

ECONOMIC OR COMMERCIAL VALUES OF FORESTS RESOURCES

i)

Provide fuel wood for domestic and industrial uses, and timber for

ii)

buildings, furniture, boats, railway sleepers and several other purpose.

Supply raco materials for wood pulp in the manufacture of paper, rayon,

iii)

motion picture films, etc

Provide food items in the form of roots, tubers, leaves, fruits, berries,

iv)

nuts, spices etc

Serve as a source of sustainable income through ecotourism

ECOLOGICAL VALUES OF FOREST RESOURCES

A part from the aesthetic recreational and economical values, forests
have very grate ecological values too.
The major ecological roles of forests are,
i)

Control atmospheres qualities, such as humidity, temperature gas

ii)
iii)
iv)
v)

composition and air circulation

Moderation of climate through transpiration
Oxygenation of atmospheric air through photosynthesis
Increase soil fertility by promoting humus formation and nitrification
Control soil erosion and flood protect top soil and water resources.

In the early historic times , the extent of the lush and green clad forest
cover was far greater over thousands of years , much of the original forest cover

disappeared mainly due to constant use and overexploitation by man. The

common course of deforestation can be summonsed as
i) Shifting cultivation which involves the agricultural practice of practice of
tribals and landless people who clear trees for growing subsistence crops.
ii) Natural calamities , such as volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, floods, acid
rains etc
iii) Urbanization, Industrialization, mining, construction of dams etc

These large-scale destruction of forests will lead to a very serious

situations, reduces the food and space of wild animals, Increases the CO2 and
decreases the O2 levels in atmosphere, decreases humidity reduces soil fertility.

CONCLUSION
Natural resources are the naturally occurring substances of the
biosphere.Forests are large treasure houses of a huge wealth of natural
resources forests are valuable to use in many ways. They provide many
facilities .Forests are also useful wild life and camping, for meeting our natural

requirements. It has many ecological our economical values But now it is in , on

the way of destruction. It causes many problems for both human beings and wild
life animals So conservation of forests is highly essential for the maintenance of
favorable climatic and environmental; conditions for the maintaince of the stability
and dynamic of the forest ecosystem and for keeping up the balance of nature,
Natural resources are our treasure . its conservation is our duty so save natural
resources and save our life.
