WEEKLY
PRAY FOR
GERRY
AND
DONNA
Please continue to pray for the Rochester and Howard
families as they are in Chicago after Debbies second
surgery in 7 days on her back. The doctors believe
that what has been done will make a huge impact of
her quality of life.

Today, September 22nd, Gerry and

Donna Smith will be making the
BIG final move to Plainfield,
Illinois. Gerry and Donna have
been members of CEFCM for 20
years and we wish them great
blessings in the next leg of their
incredible adventure in Christ!

Greater than the gifts doctors possess, is the power

of prayer, and imagine the two working together! Pray
right now, those same strong unrelenting prayers you
prayed for John and Julie that broke down walls and
brought forth the recent adoption of the girls.
Also, praise God for He is so good and in His great
love has brought great healing in Debbie. In the
coming weeks we will need a cadre of folks willing to
bring meals and help out as Debbie heals.

Will you help?

As many of you have already seen via Facebook,

email, and at church on Sunday the nursery
construction is progressing along. If you havent
had a chance to see it stop in because its exciting!
Dont forget to continue to pray for the ways that
the space will bring Glory to God as they grow in
grace. With over 98 kids in AWANA and new
families in the church with children I believe that
God is giving us a taste, just a taste, of what is to
What is the full scope of the project?
- We will be adding glass doors between the
foyer and the worship center. The reason is
two-fold. First it will make a huge visual impact,
but more importantly it is for safety as the solid
metal doors have caused quite a few accidents.
- We will be re-carpeting the worship center in 2
weeks. This will make a major difference as our
carpeting is 20 years old and starting to show
heavy wear.
- The nursery area is becoming a bright,
transparent, safe environment for kids to learn
about Jesus. Some additions are:
- Appealing and visible foyer area to safe
dedicated kid check-in.
- Lots of windows and bright colors!
- New door to an outside play yard.
- Cry room with windows to allow parents to
stay in service with a crying infant.
- New heavy padded carpeting.
- Flatscreen TVs mounted in the rooms.
- New hallway upstairs to adult classrooms.
Changes Due to Construction:
- Bruces Christian Ed Class will be meeting in the
worship area.
- The interim nursery area will be upstairs. This
week the Nursery stairway will be unavailable.
next week you will get to the Nursery by taking the
kitchen stairs through the senior high room.

Thanks to all the great volunteers who

came out Friday and Saturday to serve in
the Nursery remodel. Bruce Henrikson,
Josh DeYoung, George Williams, Larry
Bunting, Mac Burberry, Vic Christman, Mike
Piasecki, Skip Dovel, Tasha Schifo,
Amanda Krutsinger, David and Gretchen
Eichstedt, Jim Sackett, Don Ramsey, and
Pastor Jason.

Our weekly newsletter that comes out

on Tuesday contains a copy of
sermon scripture outline along with
any quotes and references.
It is my hope that this helps you in
reflection on the work that God did
through his Word.

Starting on September 23rd, 40 Days For Life will

be peacefully praying outside the Champaign/
Urbana Planned Parenthood facility. Through this
ministry many, many lives have been saved as God
opens doors for conversations with those going into
the clinic for abortions.
It may seem uncomfortable, but we need to
challenge our comfort zone and save a life!

This next installment of Conversations

Matters promises to be very interesting as
Bob walks everyone though the end times
as laid out in Quran and compares it to the
Biblical text. In addition the Crescent
Project will be on hand sharing about their
upcoming Bridges class that we will be
hosting in October at CEFCM (see page 6).

LIFE BANQUET
Once again this year Community Evangelical Free Church is a table
host for this event. That means that we want to host and fill tables
with people who are pro-life and passionate about coming out to
celebrate Living Alternatives 30th anniversary with them!
The special Speaker this year is pro-life actress Shari Rigby.

Why? "
"
"

Because we believe that abortion is one of the great

issues of our time and we want to fight it wherever,
and however we can. Therefore, every member and
attender of CEFCM is invited to attend this event!

Bridges is a curriculum developed by Crescent

Project that is meant to introduce Christians to
Islam and pave the way for building
relationships with the Muslims in your
community.
Christians have responded to Muslims in many
ways, but all too often, without the compassion
that characterized Jesus.Bridges seeks to
replace fear and intimidation with love and
gentle boldness, reshaping the way Christians
view and respond to their Muslim neighbors.
Bridges is one-of-a-kind because it focuses on
similarities, not differences. Christianity and
Islam are not the same, but they are similar.

You can learn how to take similar concepts in

Christianity and Islam, and build a bridge.
Bridges meets you where you are. The
teaching found in Bridges is easy to
understand even if you dont have much prior
knowledge of Islam. The material is also
valuable to those seeking to build on what they
already know about Muslims.
Bridges is practical and biblical. Bridges allows
you to gain biblical insight into Islamic history
and Muslim beliefs, while providing useful next
steps and stories that help you put the
teaching into practice.
