The Florence Institute of Design International is to repeat the success of last
years summer architecture course led by Prof. Karin Templin, an authority in Flor entine architecture from Kingston University, London. This year the courses in A rchitecture and Furniture Design will be held in Florence from June 7th to July 2nd 2010. Florence,ITALY - March 11, 2010 -- The short architecture course has very practi cal applications in understanding urban context and historical buildings, with w hich Florence is abundant. Students have the opportunity to experience exclusive guided visits to the world renowned architectural masterpieces, with the course divided into three sections exploring the piazzas, the churches and the palazzo s of Florence. On site sketching and photography sessions develop analysis techni ques and allow for in depth study of the architecture. Discussions on the archi tectural masterpieces dating from the Renaissance to the Modernist period will r ange from their urban and cultural significance to building techniques and mater ials. The professor for the course is Prof. Karin Templin, who currently teaches archi tecture at Kingston University, London. Prof. Templin comments "I have met many practicing architects that have never been to the great cities of Florence or Ro me and I think there is a market for the professional who would like to visit or even revisit Florence with other architects on a guided architectural tour". Th e course emphasis is on providing a practical view for architects who are from v aried backgrounds ranging from urban designers to project designers to historica l preservationists. Student intake at the Florence Institute is totally international, and in the wo rds of one student from Denmark the course was the best course I ve ever taken! . Upon re ceiving a Master in Architecture from Kent State University in the US, Prof Temp lin worked for many years in Florence with various noted architects.
