USF Peace Corps Internship Positions for Fall 2015

The mission of USFs Peace Corps Recruiting Office is to promote Peace Corps to USF students. Peace
Corps Volunteers serve in one of 76 countries in the broad areas of education, health, environment,
agriculture, business, or community/youth development. It is the offices intent to recruit the most
qualified USF students to these positions.
USF Peace Corps Recruiting Office in the University of South Floridas Patel Center for Global Solutions is
seeking dedicated students to fill leadership roles in the continuous development of this office. The roles
below include 2 unpaid internship positions: Office Assistant and Events Promoter. These positions are
designed to assist USFs Peace Corps Recruiter in her recruiting efforts. Please read all of the positions
available before continuing on to the application.
Interns will be held to a high standard and are expected to take their positions seriously. Preference is
given to students with previous experience in similar positions but these posts are meant to be learning
experiences. Thus, applicants are not expected to be proficient in the skills requested. Applicants MUST
express a strong desire to dedicate the time and energy needed to learn these skills, understand how
Peace Corps operates, and fulfill their responsibilities.

Requirements:

Strong interest in learning about and promoting Peace Corps

Strong writing skills and ability to interface effectively with public

Positive attitude and customer service-oriented

Self-starter and highly motivated

Well-organized, dependable, and hardworking with a strong commitment to PC Recruiter

Attend bi-weekly intern meetings (to be set once interns are selected)

Available for allotted weekly office hours (to be determined in conjunction with intern availability
and class schedule); be punctual

Able to think creatively, learn quickly, and be willing to bring ideas to the table

Strong communication skills with Recruiter

Fulfill the responsibilities of your specific position and be able to support other interns when
requested

Benefits

Successful interns will be able to list their skills and experience on official resumes.
Successful interns may receive a supportive letter of recommendation letter from the Peace Corps
Recruiter, be it for Peace Corps or other post-graduate endeavors

**All interns may list their experience on their Peace Corps application, but it does NOT guarantee a
Peace Corps Nomination**

Internship Position Descriptions

Office Assistant
This person is responsible for the following:
1. Identify classes to target for class talks; schedule appointments w/ professors based on recruiters
schedule
2. Liaise with student organizations to create volunteer opportunities for students
3. Organize and inventory office materials
4. Attend career fairs/set-up & breakdown of events
5. Attend Globe Talks in charge of front lobby monitoring and greeting students, assist with Q&As
Events Promoter
This person is responsible for the following:
1. Distributing flyers/posters created
2. Sidewalk chalking for events
3. Coordinating times for events with student organizations
4. Booking events and rooms
5. Aiding in set-up and breakdown of events
6. Attend Globe Talks assist Office Assistant with front lobby monitoring and greeting students
**All interns are expected to assist each other when needed.**

Applications are due by November 9th by 5pm via email to peacecorps@usf.edu or in


person at Patel Center for Global Solutions in CGS 110B, ATTN: Jacque Demko.
Personal interviews will be granted once your application has been reviewed. Interviews will be
held from October20th-23rd, and will take into account finals schedules and class conflicts. You
must turn in a completed application before you will be considered for an interview. Applicants
will be notified of their status the fourth week of November. If you have any questions or need
