Thoughts From The Pastor

Dear Friends,
The Session has called a Congregational Meeting for Sunday, Oct. 4 following the 11 AMworship service. There will be two items of business:
1. To elect one elder to the Session, class of 2015. The Nominating Committee will nominate
Dottie Bush. Other nominations may be made from the floor. For reasons of order, we ask you
to secure the nominees permission.
2. To vote on a recommendation from the Session to sell the Wholeness Center to Pathways
Counseling LLC, to one of the current tenants of the property. The contractual sale price is
$125,000, and the church will receive approximately $123,700 after closing costs. The Session
recommends you approve the sale for the following reasons:

a. Central is receiving the full asking price of $125,000, which is also the full value of the
property according to the appraisal done this year.
b. The purchaser Pathways Counseling LLC will continue to operate the Wholeness Center
in the property.
c. The church will retain the parking lot behind Friendship Hall, while making allowances for
parking for staff and clients of the Wholeness Center.
d. The proceeds from the sale will allow us to pay down and re-amortize the mortgage we
have on the bank building and Lincoln Way West parking lot, giving us substantially more
time to come to the right decision concerning the future use or disposition of the bank
building.
You may view the recent presentation on the rental properties by going to the church website.
If you wish a DVD of this presentation, please contact church secretary Roberta Lawyer at 2644113. Of course, there will be time for a full discussion of this motion at the meeting. We ask
you to make every effort to attend.
Grace & Peace,
Pastor Scott

JOY VILLAGE UPDATE

Church Family
Thank you....
Dear Central Family,
We wish to thank everyone who so generously
participated in our mission for the Migrant
Health Kits. We were aiming for 25 and we
received 30! God bless you all!
Centrals Deacons

Dear Friends & Members of Central,

I wish to thank you for the beautiful flowers
given by Jay & Susan Keefer on August 30th.
They brightened up my home and my spirits.
Thank you for thinking of me.
Love, Karen Mann

Thank you so much to the VBS Team for the

lovely card and generous gift you gave me this
past Sunday. I am extremely blessed to be able
to lead VBS and all the other aspects of Childrens Ministry here at Central. I truly love all
the children here. Spending time with them,
sharing the love of Jesus and watching them
grow deeper in their personal faith in Christ
brings great joy! I appreciate everyone who
volunteers their time, their prayers, and lends
their support. Youre the BEST!
With deep gratitude,
Sandy Wilson
Childrens Ministry Director

MEETING: Session has called a Congregational Meeting on Sunday, October 4, following

the 11:00 worship service. The purpose of the meeting is to:

APPLEFEST ~ SATURDAY OCTOBER 17 ~ 9:00 AM 5:00 PM

APPLEFEST will be held throughout downtown Chambersburg. Once
again, Central will be sharing our warmth and hospitality by opening our
church to our neighbors. This allows visitors to use the restrooms, get a cold
drink of water, or just rest for a few minutes. We are looking for volunteers
to serve as greeters in the Lincoln Way West lobby. We will need 2 or 3
people for each 2-hour shift: 9-11,
11-1, 1-3, or 3-5. If you are interested in greeting, please add your name to
the sign up sheet posted in the LWW lobby. Applefest usually draws a lot of
people, especially if the weather is nice. This is a
wonderful opportunity to share in the fun downtown and reach out to the
many folks who participate.

"OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD" The excitement of receiving a

little box of gifts from someone you don't even know can be life changing. Imagine the joy on a child's face when they receive their gifts! In
the LWW lobby you can find a simple empty shoe box. All you have to
do to spread JOY, HOPE and LOVE around the world is fill the little box
with gifts. Each box will be a Missionary from Central bringing a smile to
a child's face. Pick up your box and a "How to pack your shoebox gift"
pamphlet today. Decide if you want to surprise a Boy or Girl, select the
age group, tape the label to the top of the box and fill the box with Happiness. Please include
a Check for $7 in the envelope provided to help pay for shipping and place it in the
box. Checks should be made payable to Samaritan's Purse with Operation Christmas Child
on the memo line. Full Boxes should be returned to the LWW lobby by November 8.

VanLooy Concert
The first of Wilson College's VanLooy concerts will feature Raul Prieto
Ramirez on Sunday October 25 at 3:00 in Thomson Chapel.
Mr. Ramirez is the first Spanish organist in recent times to establish himself among the elites of the international concert scene. He discovered the
organ by chance on the radio at age 11 and taught himself to play. After
studies in Spain and Germany he was appointed the first Organist-inResidence of the Auditorio National de Musica in Madrid - Spain's National Concert Hall at age 27.

Faith
Champions!
A few more
Faith
Champions
are still needed!
We are in need of additional people to volunteer in our Sunday School
rooms and nurseries. We need an extra volunteer person every week, in every
room, in order to fulfill our excellent Safe Church policy, which requires that at least
2 adults be present in each classroom.
We want to fulfill our policy requirements, but we also want our kids to
meet and know the larger community of people in their church!
Volunteering is very easy and low-impact. You basically need to hang out in the room
for the duration of Sunday school and be a calming presence for the kids. You do not
need to do any teaching!

If you are interested in volunteering a few times this year in one of our Sunday school
rooms or nurseries, please email me : kidsmin@centralonthesquare.org and I can
give you ALL the info!
Thank you all for being awesome adults and potential role models!
Joyfully in Jesus,

NEW!

Sandy

Private Room for Nursing Moms

We love and cherish our moms and their babies! New on the third floor, there is
a private room for nursing moms to use on Sunday mornings.
Rm 301 (the MDO office) is quiet, private, and near the church nursery. Please
feel free to use it at any time on Sunday mornings. If you have any questions or
concerns, contact Sandy Wilson at kidsmin@centralonthesquare.org.
