RESEARCHSTATEMENT

Whenwewereassignedtobrainstormforresearchtopics,Iwasfascinatedwithour
abilitytodream,andtheactofbeingabletocontrolonesdream.Theideaofbeingableto
controlthethereality,oratleasthowyouperceiveit,excitesme.However,itwasdifficultfor
metocomeupwithasolidresearchstatementaboutdreamingfurthermore,itwasalsohardfor
metofindareferencetodreamingthroughtheSubjectLibraryGuides.
Comingfromthesameideaofalteringhowweperceivereality,ichosetohavemy
secondtopicaboutmarijuana.Thistopicgavememultipleaspectsonwhattofocusononhowto
framemyresearch.Ichosetofocusonthemedicinalaspectofmarijuanaandthelegalizationof
recreationaluse.Legalizationofrecreationaluseofmarijuanahasbeenareoccurringtopicin
todaysnews,soitseemedperfecttowritearesearchpaperaboutit.

RESEARCHSUMMARY
InitiallyIwantedtowritesomethingaboutdreamingsinceiwasreallyfascinatedwith
theideaofpercievingtheworlddifferently.However,itwasdifficulttofindsupporting
documentsforanideathatwassovague.Itforcedmetowriteaboutdrugs,andmarijuanatobe
exact,somethingsimilartomyfirstidea.Icameupwitharesearchquestion,notknowingifIam
goingtostickwithit,orchageitalongtheway.Myothertopicgavememoreleewaytocomeup
withasomewhatstrongresearchquestion.Followingmyinitialresearchquestion,Idiscovered
moreliteraturesthatdiscussedsomethingdifferentthanmyfirstquestion,buttheseevidences
seemedalotstrongertherefore,Itweekedmyresearchquestionsothattheseevidencesfitthe
criteria.Iwouldhavelikedtocomeupwithastrongresearchideawayearlierthanidid.
Overall,theresearchprocesswentsmoothly.Comparedtohowmyresearchpaperwas
whenIwasinhighschool,thisresearchprocesshadstrongerevidences.Backthen,mostofmy
sourceswhereonlinebased.Thehardestpartabouttheresearchwasgettingusedtotheprocess
ofutilizingthelibrarysitetoaccessdifferentdatabasesandfiguringouthowtoproperlycite
differentliteraturesindifferentformats.Onceitwasclearinmyheadofwhatmypaperwould
beabout,itwaseasyenoughtousethosedatabasestofindsourcesthatsupportsmyargument.
Goingthroughthepasthomeworksalsohelpedalotinwritingthefinalpapertrail.Ifoundthe
AcademicSearchCompletethemostusefultoolthatilearnedthroughoutthecourse.Oncei
figuredouthowtousethisdatabase,itbecameeasyformetofindinformationthroughother
databases.Learningaboutthebooleantechniquessolidifiedmysearchskillstoanotherlevel.As
foranadvice,again,goingthrougheachassignmentandactuallydoingitsinceintheend,it
reallyhelpsyoufinishthepapertrail,andyougettolearnsomeusefulskillsalongtheway!
