Blackseed(Nigellasativa)isafloweringplant,nativetosouthwestAsia.Theplanthasbeenused
primarilyincandiesandliquors.InmanyArabian,Asian,andAfricancountries,blackseedoilisused
asanaturalremedyforawiderangeofdiseases.
Goodscientificevidencesuggeststhatblackseedmaybeeffectiveinthetreatmentoflungdisorders.It
isunclearwhetherblackseedmaybeeffectiveinthetreatmentofotherconditions,suchasallergies,
diabetes,andhighbloodpressure.

threetimesdaily.

Blackseedmayincreasetheriskofbleedingwhentakenwithdrugsthatincreasetheriskofbleeding.

Blackseedmayinterferewiththewaythebodyprocessescertaindrugsusingtheliver'scytochrome
P450enzymesystem.Asaresult,thelevelsofthesedrugsmaybeincreasedordecreasedinthe
bloodandmaycauseincreasedordecreasedeffectsorpotentiallyseriousadversereactions.Patients
usinganymedicationsshouldcheckthepackageinsertandspeakwithaqualifiedhealthcare
professional,includingapharmacist,aboutpossibleinteractions.
Blackseedmayincreasetheamountofdrowsinesscausedbysomedrugs,includingcentralnervous
