ECS-Software lnstallation
lnstallation Guide
This installation guide will assist the user in installing the ECS-Software on a MOP unit. This
document includes both, installation on a Windows 2000 operating system as well as a Windows
XP Embedded operating system. If installing the ECS-Software on a Windows XP Embedded
operating system the section "lnstallation on Windows 2000" is irrelevant and the same goes for
the "lnstallation on Windows XP Embedded" section when installing the ECS-Software on
Windows 2000.

lnstallation on Windows 2000

This section starts with a brief introduction that will hopefully assist the user in case of installation
failure. But the bulk of the section is dedicated to the main installation procedure that should
typically succeed.

Introduction
This procedure will install the ECS-Software on the local hard drive of the MOP. The installation
script will go through the following sequence:
lnstallation of MySQL: MySQL is the database engine used by the MOP application for
recording incoming events from the connected control system.
lnstallation of MOP application: The MOP application is installed to the 'Program Files'
folder of the local machine. Beyond merely copying the files, the installation script will
update the registry with a number of keys required by the MOP application. Note that the
MOP application also contains the programs for the MPC units in the system.
MOP user account creation: The MOP application will be executed from an isolated
separate MOP user account: 'mop-user' (password: 'mop-user'). When the ECS-Software
has been properly installed, logging on to this user account will cause the MOP application
to be started automatically. The installation script will create this MOP user account and
configure it for automatic start of the MOP application.
lnstallation of administrative tools: The installation script will create a shortcut on the
Desktop of installing user account. This shortcut will reference a folder with miscellaneous
administrative tools, e.g. enabling and disabling of auto-logon as 'mop-user'.
The ECS-Software is installed using either the install mopA W2K. b a t or
i n s t a l l mopB W2iCw. b a t file. These batch files will call the installation script and install a MOPA or MOP-B respectively.

Preconditions
The procedure is based on a MOP unit that has been prepared with a restored OS Ghost image
and is thus running Windows 2000.
The ECS-Software itself may any kind of media, but typically it will be located on a CD-ROM. In
such cases, it is required that the PC unit has a CD-ROM drive attached.

Measurements for earth fault must be made, with multi-meter on all cable con~~ections.
All cables mounted on plugs for MPC must be marked with plug ilunlber and tein~inal
number, and all cables mounted according to actual plant electrical diagram.
All cables/plugs to be mounted on MPC-print must be disconnected.
Battery mounted on MPC board (See chapter 2.1.1)
Tools according to appendix 1 1.3
1. Power Supply Check

On all MPC units check polarity and voltage on plug J1: (A power): A
(B power): A = - / C= +, the voltage must be in the range 20-30Vdc.

=- 1B=+

On Main Operating Panel (MOP A), check the polarity and voltage. The voltage must be in
the range 20-30Vdc.
On Main Qperating Pallel (MOP B), check that the 22011 1OVAC switch is set according to
the power supply.
If Main Operating Panel (MOP B) is for 24 volt (type PCM 4) check the polarity and
voItage.

The voltage must be in the range 20-30Vdc.

power supply B.
1.1 MPC fuse- and plug-specification

In Appendix 11-4 explanation of MPC fbse specification and MPC plugs function.
2. ID-key Boot Loader Program
The co~ltrolnetwork on the ME Engine contains several MPC units called nodes. Each MPC
has a corresponding ID-key attached to it(se page xxxx). This ID-key contains a unique ID.
which identifies what type of controller it is associated with. When the ID-key is plugged
illto its corresponding sub-D connector (5206) on the MPC, the controller reads the ID-key,
ID lumber to determine what type of software it should contain. Each ID-key, ID number is
matched to specific coiltroller software. If the MPC determines that it does not contain the
correct software image it will not boot. The ID-key, ID is also used by the MPC to determine
what type of software it should upload from the MOP.

Network status on the MOP screen

The nehvork status screen contains information on the accessibility of the nodes on the
nettvork and on the status of the cabling of the individual nodes.

The nehvork connection can also be checked using a service terminal, i.e. portable PC with
Windows HyperTerminal program that is connected to the service terminal plug J67 on an
MPC using a zero modem cable.
