Aids: We all know it, but do you know what it is?

AIDS its an infectious disease, caused by the human immunodeficiency virus.

The HIV is a lentivirus that causes the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, a
condition in humans in which progressive failure of the immune system allows lifethreatening opportunistic infections and cancers to thrive.
There are three ways of transmission:
By sexual relations:
It is transmitted by vaginal, anal or oral sexual relations without protection. The pass of
the virus on the sexual relations goes through lessons or microscopic wounds that are
produced during the penetration and other sexual practices.
By blood:
By sharing syringes for the use of drugs, or any other sharp or piercing elements.
It can also be through the no controlled blood transfusion.

By perinatal transmition: from the mother to the child during the pregnancy, the
childbirth and the nursing.
It is NOT transmitted by Sneezes, tears, saliva, sweat, air or water. Neither it happens
through sports, kisses, or hugs. Those who have aids contract infections for the
weakness of their immunologic system.Thats why they can have diarrhea, prolonged
fever, marks on the skin, and certain kinds of cancer.
The specific analysis are the Elisa Test and the Western Blot Test. It may happen that
someone who has tested too soon,
It may be that if a person takes a test early, once the virus entered his body, it might not
have generated detectable amount of antibody levels and the result will be negative.
That is is called as a window period.
When there was a particular risk, although the result of the first analysis is negative it is
recommended to repeat the exam the next month of the first sample. Some people with
risk situations should be frequently retested periodically (eg, every 6 months).
HVI test must be absolutely voluntary, and the person must be adviced before and after
being tested.
That or HIV antibodies in the blood.
o Being has the HIV virus, not having AIDS.

o That can infect another person by holding unprotected sex (without a condom) or by
direct contact of blood with blood.
o That must always be protected during sex to avoid the risk of re-infection. This means
you must keep HIV from re-entering your body, as this increases the chance of
contracting AIDS.
That or can continue with their daily activities.
That or if you become pregnant can infect your baby before birth, during birth or
breastfeed. But if it is controlled properly can prevent transmission from mom to baby
in 98 percent of cases.
The gangliosides are the molecules responsible of the hiv propagation
Differtent countries are investigating vaccine, yet it has not been discovered one that is
effective to avoid this disease, distintos pases se estn investigando vacunas, pero an
