Intumescenceisacomplexprocessinwhichchemicalreactionstakeplacetoconvertthecoatingtoaviscousliquid.Atthe
sametime,gasesareproducedandtrappedwithintheliquid.Thiscausestheswellingandformationoftheinsulatingchar.
Theintumescentmechanismandsubsequentcharformationabsorbsheatfromthefirehelpingtokeepthetemperatureof
