Update Procedure
Download the update files
The AT40x system software update files and Release Notes can be downloaded from the following locations
Note: AT401 Software V 2.1 Update is valid for both AT401 and AT402:

It will be necessary to login or register for the download website. Once registered, the same username
and password can be used for future updates and releases.

Prepare System for Update Extremely Important


1. The AT40x Tracker needs to be powered by mains. It is not possible to update the system running on
battery power!
2. Make sure system is on and booted.
3. Sensor connected via LAN cable
4. The update can be done regardless which previous firmware version had been installed on the system.

Installation Procedure
Note:
Both Tracker Pilot Software and Sensor Firmware will be updated using this procedure
The installation will take approx. 1.5 to 2.5 hours. During this time it will not be possible to use the
instrument for measurement.
1. Start Tracker Pilot and connect to sensor using the Point to Point (P2P) Connection

(If Tracker Pilot was not installed previously, execute Setup TrackerPilot.exe and follow the installation
instructions)

2. Login as Advanced User

On starting up Tracker Pilot the User Level is by default showing Standard User

To change press

Select Advanced and type in the Password:

on the bottom toolbar

Password is case sensitive!

3. Navigate to the Support Center and select an Update Option.

If the Leica Update Manager was previously installed and the update file downloaded automatically then the
option start update will be available.

If the Leica Update Manager is not installed or file is not, then it is necessary to select Open an Existing Upgrade
file, and browse to the downloaded

If upgrading from tracker pilot version 1 it will be necessary to go to support center and select Update System

4. Browse to the downloaded *.update file and select open. (Alternatively the Update file can just be
dragged and dropped from a Windows Explorer anywhere onto the window of the Support Center.)
5. Tracker Pilot software and Leica Update Manager will be updated first. The message below will appear
before the firmware on the sensor is update.
To start the sensor update click on

Once the update process is running, it must not be stopped! To avoid an unintended interruption, the
Windows control to close the Tracker Pilot is disabled.

The system update will now start. A progress bar informs about the progress of the update and the
remaining time.

Please refer to the Tracker Pilot Reference Manual, Chapter 7.1.3 Update System for more information
on how to update the system.
Note: Once Tracker Pilot has been installed the Reference Manual can be access through the Help

Email Support File


Email a report of the update status result to Leica Support so that the files can be analyzed to confirm the
system has been updated correctly.
Procedure when PC is connected to internet
Click Yes, Send Support File in the Quality Feedback Assistant at the end of each update process. This
will transfer the Update Support file which has been automatically created, to our ftp server.

Procedure when PC is offline


An update support file will be located in the following folder:
o C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\TrackerPilot\Support\Tracker SN

o
Simply transfer the support update file to another computer which is connected to the internet and
attach the file to an email going to the following address: support.ims@leica-geosystems.com
