British manufacturing group Rolls-Royce offers hot young engineers two graduate schemes

Completing an internship during university is a great way to gain valuable
work experience before entering into the real world.
Besides gaining useful experience, it is also a great way to distinguish ones
self in the graduate application process, as well as identify key areas of
interest to build ones career.
Graduate schemes are also a good first step to a fruitful career, with many
leading on from internships.
1.BAE Systems
BAE Systems is a British multinational defence and aerospace engineering
company headquartered in London, UK. Its US unit is one of the six largest
suppliers to the US Department of Defence.
BAE operates a number of programs for engineering students and graduates
across fields including civil, aeronautics and aerospace. They include:
The Engineering Graduate Development Framework (GDF): Its a twoyear scheme for graduates who are passionate about their fields of
engineering.
Requirement: 2:1 undergraduate degree in engineering, numerical or
scientific subject.
Perks:Assigned mentor; attendance of graduate conference after
completion of first year; starting salary of between 25,000 28,000; 2000
welcome payment; discounted healthcare; car lease; share schemes; 25 days
holidays per annum; and up to 20% of annual salary available upfront as
optional advance.

2.Rolls-Royce
Rolls-Royce was founded in 1906 by Charles Stewart Rolls and Sir Frederick
Henry Royce. It is mostly known worldwide for its luxury automobiles, but
lesser known for its arguably more important role of producing aircraft
engines that are used in powering most airliners that cross the world today.
In the same manner in which many associate Rolls-Royce as the gold
standard in luxury cars, the same can be said of its engineering program; it
is still one of the most coveted schemes out there.

3.Jaguar Land Rover
The Jaguar Land rover automotive company has a long and complex history
which dates as far back as 1968. It has since 2008 been a subsidiary of TATA
Motors of India, but remains a staple of British engineering and still designs
and produces desirable and highly sought-after automobiles.
Being one of the larger and more prominent engineering firms in the UK,
they are an obvious choice for keen engineering graduates.
Internships:There are four program areas from engineering to product
design and transportation.
Requirement: A predicted 2:2 degree.

The worlds leading search engine, Google is multinational technology
corporation specialising in internet-related products and services. It was
founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin in 1998.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is the US
government agency for aeronautics and aerospace research, and the civilian
space program.
Founded in 1958 by President Dwight Eisenhower in response to the soviet
launch of Sputnik 1, the worlds first artificial satellite, NASA went on to
capture the minds of a generation with the Apollo program and the moon
landings.
NASA still boasts of one of the best engineering programs for graduates in
the world, with multiple entry programs.

scientific and technical.
Requirement: Position specific requirements; must be a US citizen.

Requirement: 2.9 GPA; must be a US citizen.

8.Boeing:
Boeing was founded in 1916 by William Boeing, who wanted to build planes
after an earlier stint in the timber industry.
His ties to timber helped in the design of his early planes and also to weather
the oversupply of planes after WW I that led to the closure of most other
plane companies.
Boeing has since gone on to become the biggest aeronautics firm in the US,
with 747 commercial passenger jets. Its engineering program is thus one of
the best and most enviable out there.
Graduate Schemes: The Boeing Engineering Career Foundation Program.
Requirement:Completion of a relevant bachelors degree.
Internships: The company offers an internship program in engineering.
Annual Intake: 500+
Requirement:Availability for 10 to 12 weeks, and must be enrolled in a
relevant program.
Deadline: Opens August/September 2015, for entry in 2016.

9.Lockheed Martin
Lockheed Martin is an aerospace, defence, security and advanced technology
company. Founded by the merger of Lockheed Corporation and Martin
Marietta in 1995, the company is based in Bethesda, Maryland (US).
It is one of the world's largest defence contractors. It goes without saying
that an engineering program with Lockheed Martin represents one of the
best opportunities to work with next generation technologies, and is
accordingly highly sought-after.
Graduate Schemes:The engineering graduate program covers systems,
software and mechanical engineering.
Requirement:Degree in a relevant subject.

Arup is a multinational firm of consulting engineers, designers, consultants
and technical specialists. It was founded by Sir Ove Arup in 1946.
Arup is responsible for a lot of the most exceptional design structures known

Requirements:2:1 in any relevant degree.

Requirements:Must be on track to achieve a 2:1 in your degree.
