CAID Rules

Hello
Firstly wed like welcome you to the Kerry School of Irish Dance and thank you for choosing us!
The school was established by Michelle Tebbutt (our mum who youll no doubt come across in
your time with the school) around 14 years ago. Whilst Michelle was teaching the school
achieved some fantastic results including many National championship titles. Sam took the
school over in 2007 after several years of competitive dancing, then Melissa gave up
competitive dancing and started teaching alongside Sam in 2011. Since then, the school has
achieved some fantastic achievements from dancing in front of thousands at local and national
sporting events and placing at the World Championships every year since 2010. We have also
performed various times with Britains Got Talent 2009 finalists Stavros Flatley!
The School is affiliated to Celtic Association of Irish Dance (C.A.I.D) and attends regular
competitions (feis) which all dancers are encouraged to attend once ready. All dancers MUST
be registered with CAID and a registration form can be found in this pack. Dancers who have
moved from other schools will face a 3 month feis ban to allow them to pick up new steps.
If you are new to Irish dancing there are a few things you may be unsure of but everyone at the
school will help you along the way. One of the first things you may want to do after a month or so
is buy some dancing shoes. Please be careful with this as many suppliers size shoes up
incorrectly and then the shoes become too big after a few weeks. As dancers soft shoes stretch
a huge amount it is recommended that you go for 1.5/2 sizes SMALLER than regular shoes.
These may feel small but trust us they will stretch. Its always worth asking around the school as
many people have bits and pieces 2nd hand to sell. Here is the link to the website we
recommend: www.antoniopacelli.com
Could we please ask that you familiarise yourself with the content of this welcome pack and
complete the registration form, Contact details and sign the rules and regulations and return to
us as soon as possible.
No doubt youll have lots youd like to ask us so please do not hesitate to contact us or speak to
us at the end of one of the lessons.
Once again, on behalf of everyone at the Kerry School, welcome! We hope you enjoy it as much
as we do and have as much success as all the other boys and girls here.
Thanks,
Sam and Melissa.
