Installing a serial number to activate the license for your

Bloomberg Professional Service

The Bloomberg Professional Service software installation is now complete. In order for you to activate
your license and connect to the Bloomberg network you will need to register a Bloomberg Serial Number
(SN) on this computer. If at any point during this process you need help, please contact Bloomberg
Support.

Preparation

If a valid Serial Number is already installed on this computer

If you simply re-ran the software installation on the top of a previous installation, without changing or
removing registry keys, then no further action is necessary, unless you want to CHANGE the Serial
Number; in this case proceed to the section If a Serial Number was previously installed but now expired
or invalid.

If a Serial Number was previously installed but now expired or invalid

If you installed the Bloomberg software on a computer that previously had Bloomberg at some point in the
past, but is now no longer active, then you will receive a popup informing that the Serial Number is invalid.

In order to remove the previous SN you will need to have administrative access to the computers registry,
to be able to remove the relevant keys. If you do not, you will need to contact your System Administrator.
If you do, proceed as follows:

Go to Start Settings Control Panel Add/Remove Programs

Choose Bloomberg Professional Service

Choose Remove

Choose Next for Automatic

Click Finish

Restart the computer.

You have now removed all trace of the previous SN and its associations. You will need to re-run the
installer (file name starting sotrt) to install the software again.

Once that is complete, you are in the position to install a new SN. Please proceed to the section If this is
the first installation of Bloomberg on this computer.

If this is the first installation of Bloomberg on this computer

If this is the first time installing Bloomberg on this computer or you have fully wiped the previous
installation and then reinstalled, simply double-click the Bloomberg icon
or go to Start Programs
Bloomberg. The Connection Wizard will launch. Now you are ready to install a new, appropriate Serial
Number for the account/subscription type you intend to use it with. Please proceed to Subscription Type.

Subscription Type

What you do next depends on your subscription type it will affect which users can and cannot log into
the terminal once completed. If you do not know which type you have then please contact your Bloomberg
Representative.

Bloomberg Anywhere
In order to register an appropriate, valid SN on this computer, you will need to click on the Access Point
tab on the Connection Wizard. This will initiate a connect attempt to the Bloomberg network. You will
need to ensure you have access to the Internet or Bloomberg Private IP network. Please proceed to the
Connecting section.

Connecting

If you have difficulty connecting to the Internet or the Bloomberg Private IP network, you should first
contact your Network Administrator or Internet Service Provider, and/or follow the network specifications
given in the Appendix.

Bloomberg Private IP
If you know you should be connected to the Bloomberg Private IP (PIP) Network then this is the right
connection method to choose on the Settings tab of the Connection Wizard. If you are unsure then please
contact your Network or System Administrator, or your Bloomberg Representative.

After clicking the Access Point tab youll have the option of entering a Customer Service Record number
which you or your System Administrator or Market Data team can use to keep a track of Access Point
installations at your firm. If you have not been instructed to do so then this can be left blank.

On successfully connecting you will be informed of your new SN by a popup. Note it down if you wish to,
but it is not necessary to complete the installation. Please proceed to the Completion section.

Internet
If you have difficulty connecting to the Internet (e.g. you are unable to access any website), you will need
to contact your Network Administrator or Internet Service Provider before proceeding further.

If you are prompted by your security software to allow or deny Bloomberg access to your computer and/or
network, you will need to ALLOW it for the Bloomberg Professional software to connect and function
correctly.

You will need to have the B-unit

ready to hand. Lets begin.

that you registered with your Bloomberg Anywhere login

Login authentication

After clicking on the Access Point tab, you will be prompted to enter your Bloomberg login and password.
Next you will be prompted to validate your login using the registered B-unit just the same as if you were

LCD screen. A 4-digit number will then be displayed, which you need to enter in the box on the computer
screen. Press enter and you will then see a popup announcing your new SN. Note it down if you wish to,
but it is not necessary to Complete the Installation.

After a few moments the two Bloomberg windows will appear, showing your SN in the bottom left corner
of Screen-1, and the command line asking you to log in. The Serial Number activation and installation is
now complete. You are now able to log in. You can return to this state every time now by going to Start
Programs Bloomberg or double-clicking the green Bloomberg icon

on the Desktop.

I dont see the Access Point tab

You have an outdated version of the software or there was an error on installation. You will need to
download the full software again and install it from the start.

I get the message failed to connect to Bloomberg.

This means the Bloomberg software cannot reach the server when trying to create an Access Point either
because of a connection problem or it is being blocked by security software. Please see your System or
Network Administrator and/or follow the network specifications given in the Appendix, or call Bloomberg

Private Bloomberg Network

For a private connection, the Client PC must be able to connect to the following Bloomberg
subnets:
208.134.161.0 using the subnet mask of 255.255.255.0
205.183.246.0 using the subnet mask of 255.255.255.0

The above network prefixes are advertised using RIP v2 from the Ethernet ports of the
Bloomberg Access Routers installed at the Client Site. Alternatively, clients wishing not to
receive RIP can configure their networks to route statically to the above prefixes through the
Ethernet ports of the Bloomberg Access Routers.

Internet

For Internet connections, the Client PC must have Internet connectivity and the ability to
resolve the following DNS names:
Additionally, the Client PC must be able to connect to the following Bloomberg subnets:

Socks5 Proxy Server

For customers utilizing a SOCKS5 Proxy Server, the Client PC will communicate only with the
proxy server and the proxy server will in turn communicate to the Bloomberg servers. If at any point
during this process you need help, please contact Bloomberg Support.

Virtual Private Network (VPN)

Customers may choose to use a VPN for traveling users which allows users to connect to the
Client Network using an Internet connection. In order for the application software to connect over
a VPN connection, type CONN <GO> within the Bloomberg application to open the connection
box. Under the settings tab, check the Connect to Bloomberg using a Private IP Network and
Use any local IP address boxes. The VPN server must be configured to forward the network
traffic to the Bloomberg Access Routers. In some cases, the VPN connection must also pass
through a proxy server; therefore, the proxy settings need to be configured as well. If at any point during
this process you need help, please contact Bloomberg Support.
